What does a presidential hopeful do on his way to a rally?
Work out, of course.
U.S. Sen. Barack Obama showed up practically unannounced at Planet Fitness in Palm Beach Gardens today, an hour before his speech at Palm Beach Community College.
“I saw the motorcade pull up and I thought: Wow!,” said manager Grady Hinchman. “The Secret Service guys showed up a few minutes earlier and said something about a high-profile person coming. But I didn’t think it’d be Obama.”
Believe it or not, Obama actually paid a full day-rate for his 30-minute workout, $10 – even if Hinchman was about to let him in free.
“He’s a real cool person, very respectful. He did some cardio on the treadmill, some dumbbell work and some leg press. It looked like a maintenance workout.”
Obama overnighted at the $300-a-night The Resort at Singer Island. No word on whether he stayed in the presidential suite – although if the polls aren’t lying, he might as well have.
I am so glad soooo many people want to vote for change.
If anyone saw the motorcade to transport him to this 30 min work out. At least 50 - 75 motorcycle police officers 4 FHP cruziers and 1 -2 unmarked cars. Shutting down of PGA. The costs alone had to be HUGE. But let’s vote for change and less spending because that is the example he is showing.

You’re so silly…it’s not his idea to have that security. He’d obvously rather not have it since he went to Planet Fitness instead of Gold’s Gym and wanted to keep a low profile. But I’m sure we can thank the McPalin ticket for requiring additonal security be added since they keep trying to link him to thinks that aren’t true.

Yes, I too was inconvenienced by his GIGANTIC, tax-wasting motorcade this morning! But I suppose it’s necessary to keep him safe from harm! Wait till you see just how much his protection services will cost us should he become the next President! Afterall, nobody wants Senator Biden to step-into his shoes should something happen!
By-the-way, as a solo-practice physician and one who needs to purchase his own medical benefits in the open market, I am NOT impressed by Senator Obama’s Health Care Plan For America! The PEOPLE will NEVER have the deluxe coverage plan that the good Senator and his friends in Washington now enjoy! At best, his plan could only offer the people something akin to a socialist form of health care!
Don’t be fooled by his impossible promises!

In a TV ad, McCain says Obama “lied” about his association with William Ayers, a former bomb-setting, anti-war radical from the 1960s and ’70s. We find McCain’s claim to be groundless. New details have recently come to light, but nothing Obama said previously has been shown to be false.
In a Web ad and in repeated attacks from the stump, McCain describes the two as associates, and Palin claims they “pal around” together. But so far as is known, their relationship was never very close. An Obama spokesman says they last saw each other in a chance encounter on the street more than a year ago.
McCain says in an Internet ad that the two “ran a radical ‘education’ foundation” in Chicago. But the supposedly “radical” group was supported by a Republican governor and included on its board prominent local civic leaders, including one former Nixon administration official who has given $1,500 to McCain’s campaign this year. I don’t think much of Obama’s OR McCain’s health care plan. I make way more money keeping things as they are. If it were up to me I’d vote Bush back in for 8 more years. That way I could work for 2-3 more years and retire wealthy at 40.

5 - Guess we forgot about the total refusal to accept a GOP led legislative finding that she abused power and broke the ethics law in Alaska with Troopergate. She said she was glad she was cleared of any legal or ethical wrongdoing, when the report CLEARLY STATED that she was within legal rights to fire the guy, but SHE ABUSED HER POWER and VIOLATED THE ETHICS ACT in her and Todd’s pressure on the Public Safety director. Which part of denial of the truth is not understood? Can you imagine what she would do in the White House in denying what is right there in black and white and done in accordance with law? And she said the VP should have MORE POWER! Does this not frighten you?
6 - McCain said in numerous fora that he voted with Bush 90% of the time. Why has he not said what he would do different if elected? He just keeps ptting out catch lines like “you should have run 4 years ago” or “I’m a maverick - even my own party members dislike me” If he voted with Bush so much, he HAS to say what he would do differently, otherwise it is fair to say he will be more of the same. If he purports to be different, he has to say what it is. He has not. I don’t know why, but unles he does, what is one to think?
Everyone has past associations. McCain - Keating, Obama had dealings with Ayers. So what? What is it that shaped them, and shapes their judgement now?

I was at PBI when Palin came 2 weeks ago, and again last night when Obama flew in, the security and motorcade were identical. “Government waste” hilarious argument. I wish they would spend more of my taxes to protect Obama from all the Right Wing Red State Racist American terrorists. The Keating Five, including McCain, were perfectly situated to take action to protect their constituents. They could have held oversight hearings. Obama isn’t bringing up the Keating 5 because a) mostly DEMOCRATS were involved in that scandal and that doesn’t exactly jive with the Democrats’ version of “Republicans are the bad guys”, and b) McCain was THOROUGHLY investigated for his involvement and found not guilty of wrongdoing — unlike others in the keating 5. So sorry lady, but it looks like it may be YOU who needs to study up on history.
While you’re at it: Check out how Obama managed to become the second largest recipient of money from FANNIE MAE and FREDDIE MAC out of ANY OTHER PERSON in Congress…. despite the fact that he had only been a Senator for a mere 100 days. Only Chris Dodd, Senator for YEARS has recived more money than Obama. Fannie and Freddie, you might remember, are at the hEART of our current economic crisis — subprime mortgages. The SAME fannie and freddie that McCain WARNED about YEARS ago, only to be rebuffed by braindead democrats who saw calls to regulate Fannie and Freddie as RACIST and anti-poor (the race card is the card of COWARDS who have no other argument, btw).

I’m voting Democrat because I believe groups like ACORN who register felons, drug addicts, wino’s, homeless drifters, illegal aliens, dead people, children, fictional Disney characters, etc. makes my vote count more.

OK People, settle down. Most the stuff coming out of BOTH sides is total propaganda. They are all salesmen trying to sell ideas. Please, for the love of everything Holy, can we finally put all the bullcrap aside and focus on actually CHANGING things. We are in such bad times and if things don’t change I am afraid for my son. Where will this country be? I think that both McCain and Obama understand that need for change, I don’t, however, forsee that change being easy, either way this election goes. One thing I know for sure, the old way of thinking: Give to the rich and hope it trickles down, yeah that doesn’t work!!! Especially when we have become a counrty of “Numero Unos” only thinking of themselves and their wants and toys. I am towards the bottom and have been waiting to see those trickles of hope and living in Palm Beach I have seen those at the top. I think I’ll be waiting for a long, long time.
It’s time to get back to the America that was dreamed up so many, many years ago. We need values, ethics and more importantly a government that is not ran by a bunch of spoiled rich kids, looking to make money. We need someone, whomever it may be, who can get the average family back on track. Out of the red, into the black with a promising future. We need change, I don’t care where it comes from!!!

I believe that we are in a time where there needs to be a serious ethnic reform of the morals and values of our leaders. I don’t think that Mc Cain nor Obama is the solution but careful consideration has to be made on their character, tone of voice and the issues that they address. Negative campaing only stirs up animosity and division among us and does not help when we are facing huge budget deficits and are engaged in both physical and spiritual warfare. I suggest we all pray and put or trust in God. Thats the only way we can obtain deliverance from the mess we are in.

If he wanted to keep a low profile, why didn’t he just use the gym at the Resort at Singer Island? The whole exercise, as is the case with most politicians, is just another photo opportunity.
I was an undecided until recently. I hate the “party” people and can’t believe people vote Republican or Democratic and not for the person. Forget about the party. I don’t like the negative campaigning by either party, but this is politics, human nature and is orchestrated by the party. I don’t believe that any of the speeches or viewpoints are 100% that of the candidates alone. It’s all very well rehearsed and it’s up to the candidate to deliver the “party’s” message to the voter. Do I believe one individual has the power to lower taxes with a stroke of a pen? No way. I believe they both have a “vision” and it will be congress, lobbyists, advisors and powerful corporations who will decide the future course for America. It comes down to whom you like better and which one you think can be the most influential with congress and other world leaders. McCain was a reckless pilot and that gives me insight into his real personality. My decision was made when I saw a recent McCain interview on TV. He was laughing about the first plane he crashed in the ocean and admitted that he didn’t pay attention during flight school. He had no idea where the eject lever was located and searched frantically as the cabin filled with water. Lucky for him, he stumbled upon it in time and blew the canopy. it tells me that McCain may think he’s an invincible one man band who doesn’t need to be educated on a subject before making a rash decision (like Bush) and this concerns me. I want a President who asks tough questions, demands more information from his team and listens to many different viewpoints before spending billions of our dollars on a bail out or a war chasing weapons of mass destruction. McCain hasn’t impressed me and I think it could be another four very long years of Bush #2. I saw the same body language as an earlier poster and this concerns me about McCain. He could be very reckless, just like he was as a pilot. Obama is well educated, young, he has energy and he’s clearly ambitious. I also don’t think Obama will need a 3:00 nap and he’s got my vote.

HELLO!!! What rock are you sleeping under? Every time a political V.I.P comes through our area there are motorcades galore. This is the price we pay for voting in a democracy. So live with it. As for the doctor who said Obama’s medical plan is unrealistic, hello again, I have Tricare For Life, a wonderful plan afforded to our retired military and their families, it works doc. Obama, represents our future, hopefully we will be respected again in the eyes of the world. He has a hard job ahead…God Speed.
By reading these post I see why our country is in so much trouble. All the campaigns do is tear down each other so that no matter who wins a large percentage of the population will hate and/or distrust the winner. How are we ever supposed to get anything done? I would love to go on to a post a read somebody saying “I’m voting for McCain because I think he has the experience needed” or “I’m voting for Obama because I think his energy plan makes a lot of sense.” Unfortunatley both parties operate with for the strategy of “divide and conquer” rather than “making a better future.”
Can anyone deny that McCain has already proven that he’ll put his countries interest before his own? His actions, while a P.O.W. in service of our country, defending all of our rights to say whatever we want, no matter how stupid we each think the other one’s blogs are. Dr. Dan, I most-certainly have health insurance! And I have a damn-good plan, but it doesn’t rival that of the folk in Washington! Who but those elite have a mere $100.00 annual deductible and then 100% coverage for medical/dental? And how about that $1.00 prescription plan that covers ANY drug?
