U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney reportedly told the lawyers who negotiated his payoff to a former mistress that he and his wife of 23 years, Terry, had an open marriage, Page2Live has learned.

“He didn’t seem too worried that his wife would find out he had a girl on the side,” said a source familiar with the March negotiations. “He said something about how he and his wife were not getting along, and that the two of them had an understanding.”

Mahoney’s agreement with Patricia Allen, a Hobe Sound woman who worked on his campaign and his congressional office here, was hammered out in a tough 10-hour mediation session in Miami, I’m told.

Three lawyers, the neutral mediator, Allen and Mahoney were gathered around a mahogany table for a day-long negotiations that lasted late into the evening.

The final deal: Nearly double the previously published number of $121,000!

Mahoney’s demeanor, the source said, was of “someone whose hand was caught in the cookie jar.”

“He was not a happy camper, but tempers never flared,” the source said. “He was a gentleman.

“His main concern was how much he’d have to pay the lady.”

Meaning?

“He’s the kind of guy who must still have his first nickel. He’s pretty tight with his money. The fact that people could find out that he did this didn’t seem to bother him that much.”

Terry Mahoney didn’t return calls. She filed for divorce last week, shortly after the Palm Beach Gardens rep admitted publicly to having “multiple affairs.” She reportedly flew to Oklahoma, where the couple’s daughter, Bailey, is attending college.

The financial package that Allen signed, meanwhile, is much higher than previously believed.

In the end, Mahoney’s indiscretion with Allen will have cost him upward of $227,000.

In addition to splitting a first payment of $121,000 with her lawyer, former Palm Beach County Bar Prez Greg Coleman, Allen is set to receive another $106,000 over the next two years.

Even with the story out, Allen has not responded to interview requests to make sure she gets that money.

Why $106,000? That represents two years of salary at Mahoney’s employ. Those payments are to start January 1.

Neither Coleman nor Mahoney returned calls.

Mahoney has scandalized all of the women in the Martin County engeneering department. I am mad as hell and I am not going to take this anymore!!! Because Martin County and the press have refused to publically name the woman in this department who is sleeping with Congressman Mahoney it lends to the idea that it could be ANY one of the women in that department. I know of at least two women who were approached and asked if they were the one sleeping with Mahoney. It is disgusting and WRONG that decent women have to be smeared because of one opportunistic, gold digging, home wrecker in county MANAGEMENT who chose to sleep with a married congressman. I know we are all sinners in this world and nobody is asking that this woman to be burned at the stake but she should come forward and give an apology and an explaination to her co-workers. Female employees who are decent women deserve respect not cover ups that scandalize them and bring questions about their character. Protecting the guilty and scandalizing the innocent, Is that how character counts in Martin County? It seems to me that a disturbing atmosphere of disrespect for ladies exists in Martin government. I see a class action lawsuit brewing.
I AM WONDERING WHY REPORTERS AREN’T SNOOPING AROUND THE MARTIN COUNTY COMMISSION BUILDING. I WONDER IF THIS IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW THIS COUNTY SWEEPS SO MUCH UNDER THE RUG!!

With all the momentum for Obama it is possible that he will get re-elected… With our track record he would Just be another colorful congressman from Palm Beach County.

I work for the media and we do know who the Martin County employee is but we can not confirm this so it would be irresponsible to name her. If you really want to know… Her name was mentioned in a blog on a web site.

I though he was lower than whale dodo previously, but he is even lower than that. This elected official of ours has absolutely ‘no judgement, is impulsive and has the most inappropriate interpersonal behaviors.’
To declare he and his wife had an open marriage!!!!
Even if it were true, why would you throw that into this pitiful mess? What kind of a model is this for his daughter? Is he going to ask the poor girl to have a news conference and say he is the greatest dad ever? Maybe he will force her to go with him where they worship?
Then we have Mr. Foley going on about how both they were brought down by “Mr. So and So.” Who cares? Get responsible for your actions. If “Mr. So and So” did these horrible acts of bringing the truth to the public …. more power to him Foley.
The really sad news is … some of us voted them in office.
Our country is in a terrible crisis and it appears a good many of were completely sucked under the bus .… we had no time to really investigate who we were voting for and what they really stood for…

Right now this Country needs honest leaders that can be trusted. Mahoney has demonstrated that he’s neither honest or trustworthy. He needs to strap on a pair and resign!

I just read a poll where Mahoney’s poll numbers are somewhere in the teens. How could anyone with any scruples or judgement vote for this guy. I guess there are some people who would vote for satan if he ran for their party. I am a Dem who won’t vote for this low life.

I saw one of his ads today. It said something about sending him back because he has “experience” First of all, with all his affairs one has to wonder what actual congressional experience he has. I think I am going to take my chances with the newcomer. With Mahoney, we will just keep District 16 the laughing stock of country

Yes, it makes me wonder what he was really concentrating on when he was text messaging her hundreds of times. Also, I believe he got angry because she wouldn’t always pick up the phone and be available.

He should have done his JOB he was elected to do. As a voter, I am so sick and grossed out about hearing about a guy (52) and his sex life. Ewwwww……..I just got a little sick in my mouth.

American voters are getting what they deserve. I cannot believe that Jefferson-La is still in office after finding $90,000 in his freezer. I hope Mahoney is voted out of office and by a wide margin. We do not need trash like him in office.
