Preparations for the wedding of Gov. Charlie Crist with wealthy New York socialite Carole Rome are going gangbusters, Crist and Rome tell Page2Live.
“Carol just went to New York to pick a wedding dress,” Crist told me at the Make-a-Wish Foundation’s yearly gala in Miami Saturday night. “She ended up at, what place honey?”“I found a shop on Fifth Avenue near 18th Street a couple weeks ago,” the blushing-bride-to-be said. “But I won’t give any more details about the dress itself. We can’t reveal everything all at once!”
“I haven’t seen it yet,” said the guv.
The shindig, the lovebirds said, is scheduled for Dec. 12 in Crist’s hometown of St. Petersburg. There’ll be a religious ceremony at the United Methodist Church, then guests will move on to the historic Vinoy hotel for a reception.
While Crist and Rome have yet picked wedding bands – “Hey, look at the engagement ring,” the 52-year-old Crist says, showing off on this betrothed’s hand a fat sapphire circled with diamond – they’ve picked some of their attendants.
“My father will be my best man,” says Crist, referring to his dad, Dr. Charlie Crist Sr., a family practitioner in St. Petersburg with whom the governor shares a passion for boating.
“My sister (Michele) will be the maid of honor, and my daughters (from her first marriage to New York airline exec Todd Rome) ages 9 and 11 will be junior bridesmaids,” added Rome, 39.
As for their honeymoon, Crist says a governor of Florida doesn’t have much choice.
“We’ll stay in Florida,” says Crist, who was also married before, “probably in the southwest part of the state.”
Seems like a lot of trouble for a man to go through just to hide his homosexuality.
Another closeted gay republican hiding his true identity from voters. This will crash within 2 years, when every time she attempts to have sex with him he vomits.
Yeah, how crazy is it to wed knowing that he’s a homosexual. Haven’t he seen the results from others who have gone down that path? Geez! What rock is he living under, balls of rock?
Come on Charlie–the Republicans are now allowing blacks and women into the mainstream–gays will be next, so you just need to hang on and wait it out. This beard business ain’t gonna cut it.

Before Old Honest Charlie Gets Married someone needs to ask him how much the Fonguls of US Sugar are giving him for a wedding present.
Since he wants to ignore a unbiased report that was made for the benefit of the taxpayers and the report found that the swamp land is not worth what “HE” wants the taxpayers to pay.
US Sugar is bankrupt and the sale is a bailout however the how deals smells of dodo.
Thanks Charlie I hope the Feds investigate this deal.
nice - besides the fact this is a sham wedding/marriage, Floridians are struggling financially right now, and things are sure to get worse… and what are Charlie and wealthy socialite Carole up to - planning a big $$ wedding for 300+ invited, and an open house in Dec at the Gov Mansion. Not the right time, Charlie. Charlie canceled inaugural events due to Floridians’ financial difficulties, and with things much worse now, he would do well public-relations wise to tone down this wedding or post pone all together.
And another thing - Carole goes to New York to pick out a wedding dress - what’s wrong with a dress shop in Florida, Carole?

He got engaged real damn quick when it looked like a VP for him, I quess “the socialite” will dump him like a bag of rocks after his Gov is up, the title is all she will ever get from the republican hypocrite!

junglejim123 - this isn’t about being vicious, bitter, disgusting or hateful - it’s about reality. the reality is Charlie Crist is a fraud in his political life and personal life, and will do anything, use anybody, to further his personal goals. He’s a serial higher-political office aspirant, with the White House in his line of vision. Carole Rome is only around to help Charlie realize that goal - he needs a wife and he needs money, both of which she provides. Carole is a smart, shrewd woman - she knows what’s really up here, and she is fine with it… she has goals herself.
junglejim123 you have risen above your pay grade. Go back to your magazines. Gov. Crist has failed Floridians, repeatedly and to point out that he is a homosexual is not mean, but honest. That’s Crist boy can’t do.
I wonder if they go to the same tanning salon? She can introduce him to all her gay friends in New York.
Don’t know if this wedding will really go through, as he has been “engaged” many times. From what I hear from a State employee, it’s long been a known fact…his gayness. The engagement surfaced when he was a contender for VP nominee, maybe he feels a marriage will increase his chances of moving up politcally. What kind of woman would want to marry a guy that everyone says is gay. When doing some google research on the gay rumors, I discovered his first wife has been in a gay relatonship for many years. Sounds like they were helping each other out back then…..
