Tim Mahoney: I want my wife back
U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney wants to patch things up with his wife.
Yep, the one on whom he publicly admitted to cheating repeatedly.
In his first filings since homemaker Terry Mahoney had him served with divorce papers, the Democratic politico asked a Palm Beach County family court to stop the proceedings temporarily.
He wants a three-month truce and the appointment of a marriage counselor.Through a motion filed this week, Mahoney told the court he “believes that the marriage can be reconciled and restored and seeks entry of a court order directing the parties to consult with a marriage counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, minister, priest, rabbi, or any other person deemed qualified . . .”
Neither Mahoneys returned calls, and Mahoney’s spokeswoman in D.C. declined comment. His lawyer said the congressman is hopeful he can stay married to the woman he was hitched to on New Year’s Eve 1984.
“The motion has to be heard still,” said Boca attorney Joel Feldman. “And hopefully the parties can meet with the judge to discuss this after he stops being a congressman, in late January. Until then, things will be low key.”
Is a reconciliation far-fetched? The man, afterall, agreed to pay a former campaign staffer a total $227,000 to keep her quiet about their affair then carried on with a Martin County staffer.
Maybe. A Mahoney insider told Page2Live today that the couple’s relationship is “civil enough.” Both still live at their PGA National home in Palm Beach Gardens although Terry flew to see their daughter in Oklahoma at the time of the election.
“He definitely would like to patch things up,” Feldman said. “Of course, Mrs. Mahoney will have the right to express herself and say no.”
In his response to his wife’s divorce filing, meanwhile, Mahoney set up the scene for a nasty fight if things don’t get resolved.
His paperwork shows he doesn’t think Terry needs temporary alimony, health insurance, the exclusive use of their home or money for her lawyer – things she asked the court for.
Mahoney also denied Terry’s claims that he squandered their cash.
Riding his reputation of being an efficient rookie congressman in a district that includes Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties, Mahoney seemingly was coasting back into office in October when the extra-marital sex came to light.
In time, Mahoney admitted to numerous affairs but continued campaigning aggressively just as Terry filed for divorce two weeks before the vote.
Mahoney was handily beaten by West Palm lawyer Tom Rooney.
His wife should not go back to this dirtbag! The way he treated those women when they refused to engage in his adulteres behavior and fired them he deserves to be taken to the “cleaners”. I hope his wife will take whatever he has. Lady, don’t be like Batafulcos wife in Long Island.

In Tim’s defence, he was wrongly punished by having to succome to the “Other Guy” because he should not be judged or re-elected on his personal life but on the job he performed.
Had he cheated once or even twice, the marriage could possibly be reconcilable…but numerous times! Come on, why would she want to be with someone that really doesn’t want her

I must admit that I’ve never been married, but I’ve been cheated on… It’s no picnic, and it hurts. But, if you take a vow - does for better or for worse ring a bell? That’s THE worse. It’s easy to get rid of a scumbag boyfriend, but a “husband” is more of an investment. Hmmm - maybe. Anywho - I’d make him pay. Excuse me people who said she was not a looker. Please be sure to include him. But that isn’t the issue. One time a cheater perhaps counciling would be the answer BUT the fact that it was multiple relations in a short period of time I believe Mrs. Mahoney is doing the right thing by moving on with herself and her children. He needs the help and counciling and she needs family.

Martin County needed FEMA money so they used a female engineering manager to have sex with Mahoney so that he would lobby on behalf of Martin County. It was basically a sex for money scandal which brought an FBI investigation. The County will not publically name the woman so it lends to the suggestion that it could be any one of the women who work in the county building. The county sweeps the Mahoney FEMA-gate scandal under the rug thus placing the scarlet letter on every female that works for Martin County. Mahoneys womanizing has brought shame and scandal to the county when employees have enough problems. I am a widow and I work hard at my job for peanuts, I am going to be layed off soon, It is hard to accept that the county I work for is so greedy and corrupt that it allows managers to waste hard earned tax dollars sending this woman to party and cat around on the county dime while dumping librarians and parks employees. The county allows this kind of activity to go on but then they lay off the lowest paid people in government who actually serve the public. I call on the press to investigate crooked Martin County government.
I would like to add that St. Lucie county did not recieve their FEMA money however Martin County did because they use womens bodies to get FEMA money. Congressman Mahoney and Martin County officials do not think much of women. To these politicians a woman is just a sex tool object to use. When it comes time for lay-offs the low paid, workers will get the boot while the female managers who sleep with congressmen and county supervisors will get special protection. Kim probably tossed him out and I guess the lawyers told him how much his wife will be getting in the divorce so on the advice of his lawyers he needs to try to prolong the divorce preceedings to give him more time to hide his assets…. Basically, he’s still trying to control Mrs. Mahoney, first by stalling the divorce proceedings under the guise of marital counseling. If you have to force your soon to be ex-spouse to attend counseling thru the court system, why in the heck would the court even think for one minute it would be successful? Sounds like blackmail or extortion!! Then, after conducting and admitting to multiple extra-marital affairs, then the revelation of the recording of the disgusting manner in which he spoke to Ms. Allen when he fired her, then publicly humiliating his wife by dragging her to his poor-me phony-baloney press conference, hiding marital assets from her and now threating to get ugly in the divorce proceedings, it’s obvious this jerk is a heartless, narcissistic, border-line personality disordered creep who’s only out to serve himself. I think he just doesn’t want to lose half of the marital assets that she’s entitled to and more. You play…you pay!!! Hahaha Mrs. Mahoney would do well to consult with a good therapist to help her find the courage to dump him and move on to a happier life on her own - minus the creep. By the way, I thought Martin County administrators were investigating whether or not their high-ranking Engineering official could still be effective in her job after the national notoriety of her affair with Mahoney…and the FEMAgate scandal. It’s been a couple of weeks since we heard any news on the status…how long does this take anyway…or is it already under the rug and never to be publicly acknowledged???? Martin County taxpayers wanna know!!!!

The woman who is Mahoneys mistress is back to work in the Martin County engineering department. She cut her hair to change her appearance and keeps a very low profile. Martin County will see to it that she is protected while the hard working rank and file workers are let go because of budget cuts. I would seriously ask that the local media keep a close eye on her status during the upcoming lay offs. It will be a HUGE scandal If she keeps her job while mechanics,librarians,parks workers,mosquito control workers lose their jobs. I CALL ON THE PALM BEACH POST TO PLEASE KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THIS SITUATION!!!
