Tough Palm Beach Thanksgiving weekend for Revlon big Ron Perelman’s 18-year-old nephew.

Robby Cohen

Robby Cohen

Robby Cohen, a college freshman visiting family, was nabbed by Palm Beach Police for allegedly trying to buy booze with a phony driver’s license.

He actually had two of those, according to the arrest report.

Robby Cohen is an heir to the mega-rich family that owns Hudson News, a chain of newstands. His aunt was Claudia Cohen, a former TV gossip reporter who was married to Perelman. She died of cancer last year. His father is Claudia’s brother.

Robby’s galpal, the equally underage Amanda DiResta, was also arrested. She’s the daughter of well-known Long Island builder Brian DiResta.

On his arrest paperwork, Robby Cohen listed the family’s $36 million home on North County as his address.

Cohen spent a few hours at the county lockup early Sunday morning after the officer says she watched him order a rum-and-coke at the new Nick & Johnny’s. The cop, who was on bar-check detail, wrote Cohen looked obviously younger than 21.

When confronted, according to the records, Cohen produced phony licenses from New Hampshire and D.C. He said he bought them for $100 each in NYC.

Cohen, who couldn’t be reached, was charged with felony counts of possession of a forged license and giving liquor to an underage person. He’s out on $6,000-bond.

The young woman, 20, also faces a felony charge for possession of a forged license. She’s out on $3,000 bond.

Charged with 2 felony counts for ordering a rum and coke? “Bar check detail”?? This county is absolutely nuts. Meanwhile there are innocent people being shot, raped, and robbed…but our law enforcement are busy arresting kids for ordering booze. This county is in the wrong hands.

Here’s a question. The Bartender served someone under age. Was he or she fined? Arrested on a felony count for giving liquor to an underage person??

I agree with John .. Furthermore .. you can vote, enlist in the army, smoke cigarettes, get married all at 18 BUT you can’t drink. We’re living in the stone ages.

God bless all you holy roller conservatives

I agree with the two previous posters. An undercover cop watching the bar for underage drinkers. Two felonies. They should have been staking out dunkin donuts, and the second shooting might not have happened. I left the county 2 years ago. I still read the post because it is unbelievable what happens down there.

At least his NH probably scanned… haha

  6. Comment by bernard — December 2, 2008 @ 11:37 pm

so, wait, he gets an ID in HS, and then thinks he’s invincible? wow, they’re letting everyone graduate these days, and i thought prep school was supposed to help give structure to kids lives, and teach them to use their heads, apparently not.

Hey Jose, what did happen to the establishment for serving a minor????

Dont you guys get it, it is much safer to do bar duty then real police work. Its too dangerous for that.

  8. Comment by Sean — December 3, 2008 @ 8:02 am

I could almost (almost) guarantee that if this kid had gotten his drink, and many more afterwards for himself and also for his underage date; and then later that night either died in a fiery DUI wreck (maybe even taking an innocent family going home from visiting relatives with them) that many of the same people complaining that the police spend too much time “bar watching” would have called for someone’s head on a platter to give a reason of why underage drinking isn’t being cracked down on. Yes you can do all of that other stuff at 18 but not drink, but that’s the law. You don’t like the law the constitution allows you to change the law so try that instead of complaining about the police. I’m new to PB county and I happend to appreciate the large police precense I see on the streets every day. In Dade and Volusia counties where I have lived before they were rarely seen unless something had already happened and there were news crews around to film them. “Bar watching” is part of police work and is something that has to be done to enforce the laws that are in effect right now. Stop complaining about lazy police officers and start thanking them for doing a job that not many people would want to do in the first place. Have a nice day.

  9. Comment by Doogie — December 3, 2008 @ 10:32 am

The police officer was doing her job. The officer did not make the law. I just think a felony is charge is way too harsh. We can blame that on our politicians.

If my comment embarrasses you, take down your article

  11. Comment by Justin — December 3, 2008 @ 7:17 pm

I apologize for my harsh words, but seriously, this is absolutely ridiculous. Just because he comes from a family with ubiquitous resources doesnt mean that he should be humiliated for the same mistake made my thousands.

  12. Comment by Justin — December 3, 2008 @ 7:20 pm

If you have children, you know they make mistakes. And if for the rest of their lives, when someone searches their name for a job interview or something of the sort, an article like this pops up… Think about it

  13. Comment by Justin — December 3, 2008 @ 7:23 pm

And sean, before you go on a rant like that, understand that he was not driving that night and also, maybe YOU’RE the one who needs to go back to school and learn how to spell presence.

    Genious.

  14. Comment by Mohammed — December 3, 2008 @ 7:55 pm

    It’s genius buddy not genious.

  15. Comment by Stephen — December 3, 2008 @ 8:01 pm

at least his name is not mohammed. thank you come again

  16. Comment by Greg — December 3, 2008 @ 8:27 pm

In response to Sean, your comment fails to acknowledge a few things. The reason we don’t all fly on airplanes with parachutes on isn’t because we wouldn’t be safer if we did, but rather because we have a limited amount of resources and the cost of parachutes exceeds the benefit of saving a couple lives more per year. That is how a capitalist society deals with its scarce resources (try taking economics 101). Much for the same reason, while we are safer when cops bar-watch, busting the son of a billionaire, who has zero incentive to drunk-drive seeing as the cost of a cab is insignificant especially compared to the punishment for drunk driving, is a waste of time. Now, even if you make the argument that the cop didn’t know who he was, think about the type of crowd that an upscale place in an upscale area attracts. The kids who drink underage at the new Nick and Johnny’s have almost zero incentive to drink and drive. Does it truly make sense for the police to be watching this bar given all the unmitigated crimes that occur across the county? The answer is certainly no. We have limited police officers, and it is their obligation to spend their time such that they address the greatest and most ubiquitous threats. Robby was made an example of. The truth of the matter is 6 thousand dollars is nothing to his family; he will never have to explain this incident to his father when he accepts the reigns to the largest private periodical distributor in the nation. He isn’t hurt by this so much as were the people whose lives were endangered by the absence of necessary police protection during the incident.

Justin, I don’t care what you say. This kid went to my high school, he is a punk who thinks he can get away with anything because mommy and daddy are rich. He deserves to get embarrassed.

  18. Comment by Josh — December 3, 2008 @ 9:00 pm

Jose Lambiet obviously blew this out of proportion. I would bet my left nut that if Cohen wasn’t the son of an extremely successful man, and the nephew of a Billionaire, his name, face, and background wouldn’t be on this page. This story would be nowhere near the media for that matter. Just because the boy’s family has been tremendously successful does not give the media the right to bash him and portray him as the “Paris Hilton” type, which is the child of a millionaire who acts reckless in public places, and credits his or herself as the “invincible” type, where the family’s means can easily support the consequences that are brought upon the child. Having some knowledge about Cohen, I know for a fact that he’s a smart kid and comes from a good family, but once again he should not be singled out because of his name and his resources. If this happened to me, I would just be kept in the local police reports, and not even a sentence would be mentioned about me in the local paper. I can also guarantee that Cohen was not the only underage male that night using a fake ID, so what made the cop single him out of all the other kids there? This kid was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, and just happened to get unlucky, but why him out of all the other ones? That’s something to think about…

  19. Comment by Jaclyn — December 3, 2008 @ 9:00 pm

jose before you mess with younge people like them, you should get your facts striaght. I think you are pathetic to pick on these kids. Everyone does it and just because they are who they are puts food on your table at night. Both Robby and Amanda are good people and just because you are jealous of every person you write about, does not give you the write to judge or comment. You are creating more of an issue then it really is. Don’t act like you didnt ever in your life drink underage or carry a fake ID. You should respect people and the privacy of their families. You linked Ron Perelman to this and he has no relevance. Does this make you feel good to throw a big name around? Just because of both of these kids last names they are even more penalized for their actions. I think thats so sad and pathetic. In the real world most officers throw the ID’s away and so called “columinists” dont waste their time writing about useless stories.

  20. Comment by Jaclyn — December 3, 2008 @ 9:13 pm

PS- Im sorry but just had to comment and tell you Jose that it is horrific that Robby’s mugshot looks better than your intense need for some Rogaine and after that (if that does indeed work) some just for men, because as much as your probably trying to hide it, your getting quite old mister man. No more banging the 20yr olds…boy or girl. Anyway the best that can come from this story is a mere paycheck to take ur silly ass to CVS and by yourself some life enhancing products, and maybe if your lucky they will raise your paycheck enough to go get you some hair plugs….xoxo love ya bitch.

  21. Comment by Mike — December 3, 2008 @ 11:29 pm

Haha, I guess money can buy you women, check out that mugshot.

  22. Comment by Jackie — December 3, 2008 @ 11:33 pm

^Ew jerk. This must’ve been a slow newsday to bust on some kid just b/c he has money. And to make fun of his mugshot is just D**k…get a life.

  23. Comment by Justin — December 4, 2008 @ 2:40 pm

And plays “Just the Tip” with 6 year old boys

  24. Comment by Embarraseed — December 5, 2008 @ 9:19 am

All the white knights came out for you kid. And they are very articulate.

Real Posey, now that we know what you are, all we have left to do is negotiate your fee.

Justin, I hear mommy calling, time for your allowance.

    Greg, well said.

With privledge comes responsibility. He fucked up and got caught.

The cops, sure they are doing a job that needs to b done. However, the responsibility of not serving minors is squarely on the establishments owner. So I ask again; Was the establishment cited for serving a minor? That to me is a large part of this story.

  25. Comment by like it is — December 5, 2008 @ 11:08 am

what a joke!!!!!!!Fake ID 2 felonies, bond, wasted time and resuorces as gangs commit violent crimes.

  26. Comment by Megan — December 5, 2008 @ 9:08 pm

Any one who puts this kid down is just jealous. All of you get a life! Who care’s who they are and how much money they have. And embarrassed . And big poppa that boy deserves just as much respect. Everyone get over it! It’s old news.

  27. Comment by Justin — December 5, 2008 @ 11:24 pm

Haha time for my allowance? That just stabbed straight into my heart. How did you get to be so good at insulting people Mr. Embarrassed?

  28. Comment by Justin — December 5, 2008 @ 11:26 pm

    I need lessons

  29. Comment by Tommy — December 5, 2008 @ 11:52 pm

Kind of sad that you find it necessary to write this story… can’t find any other better stories than some kid whos exactly like every other person his age?

  30. Comment by Brian — December 7, 2008 @ 6:39 am

Look at you mental nitwits attack Jose’s sexual proclivities.

I don’t think being gay has anything to do with providing a story about some lame punk kid using a fake ID to get into a bar to drink.

It has everything to do with the lack of creativity to have to resort to calling someone a homosexual because you’re too stupid to belittle beyond kindergarten.

I am so glad I’m not around you mensa rejects lol

  31. Comment by benalu — December 9, 2008 @ 2:17 pm

yo quit the chirp chirp, you are all retarted and have brain size of peanut.

  32. Comment by Annonymous — December 11, 2008 @ 11:31 pm

The absolutely hilarious thing is, this is a total and complete lie, none of this is true, Robby didn’t get arrested nor does he have a $6,000 bail. Great story, really good job as a journalist; let me tell you your definitely going places in life.

  33. Comment by Peter Cohen — December 12, 2008 @ 4:23 pm

Brian DiResta is not listed or known as a builder anywhere in the USA???????????????????????????????

  34. Comment by Talulah — December 18, 2008 @ 4:50 pm

I happen to know these fine young people and I will say that they are fine. And I mean good looking. Have any of you googled Amanda DiResta? I have. She is a fine piece of ass. And Robby is a lucky man. He is smokin’ himself. I bet they were just trying to have a good time. They made jail look good.
And Brian DiResta is a very respected builder. You clearly don’t know how to use the internet. Google him.
    What a good looking clan.
Happy Holidays! May everyone get drunk!
