Hottest ticket in Florida

Page2Live obtained a copy of the hardest-to-get ducat in the state — the engraved invitation to Gov. Charlie Crist’s wedding to New York socialite Carole Rome.

Of course, it’s just a copy because mine, I’m told, is “in the mail.”

For most Floridians, looking at this invitation is the closest they’ll be to the wedding of the “People’s Governor.” It takes place at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at St. Petersburg’s First United Methodist Church, and then at the nearby historic Vinoy resort.

“I wasn’t invited,” said former Boca Raton Mayor Steve Abrams, a staunch Republican. “But I understand. From what I hear, the governor has invited personal friends. I’m a political friend.”

So who’s going?

I’m hearing super-lobbyist Ron Book, whose clients include the likes of Miami Dolphins co-owner H. Wayne Huizenga and the city of West Palm Beach, has been tapped. So has Fort Lauderdale lawyer Scott Rothstein, according to Abrams. Rothstein was particularly active in the recent election for Broward sheriff, in which the candidate pushed by Crist, Al Lamberti, won.

From Palm Beach County? No one’s talking. Incoming state Senate Prez Jeff Atwater would be a prime candidate, but he isn’t returning calls.

In all, 200 or so guests have RSVP’ed.

The nice thing about this shindig: As the invitation points out, no presents. The law forbids it.

Hey, Mr. Lambiet . . . Don’t you mean “engraved” not “embroidered?” An embroidered invitation would be someting sewn onto fabric. A bit tacky, don’t you think?

Dear George, Why does Ms. Rome’s religion make her more prone to break laws than someone who is not Jewish? Your comment about Carole Rome figuring out how to skirt the law because she’s Jewish is offensive and promotes misunderstanding and hatred between people.

“Just let the couple alone. Who are we to judge or cast aspersions”.

He’s currently the Governor of this wonderful State, was Attorney General previously so if he’s made this decison it’s his to live with. Not yours or mine.

I’d suggest those who havde so much time on their hands to criticize others should “GET A LIFE”.

Remember the old saying: “DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU.”

May God Bless the Governor and his new wife.
