Guv Charlie Crist romances fiancee from the stage

When Gov. Charlie Crist was introduced to the 300 guests of the March of Dimes gala Saturday night at Palm Beach’s Mar-a-Lago, he locked eyes with fiancee Carole Rome and professed his love from the stage.

“Carole,” he said, “I love you. I can’t wait to be your husband in a few days.”

Some women sighed. Others swooned.

Crist and the future first lady of Florida flew into PBIA from the UF-Alabama game in Atlanta, making it right on time for the 8:30 p.m. dinner.

“Six days to go, not that I’m counting,” Crist told Page2Live as he arrived at one of his last public appearances as a single man.

“Obviously, I’m ready to get married,” he said of his nuptials Friday in St. Petersburg. “I’m very excited. Everything is ready.”

Crist also reinforced what’s on the wedding invitations: That the soon-to-be newlyweds positively, absolutely cannot receive silverware, fancy dishes or napkin rings.

“A couple people have already tried to send me presents but the (lobbying) laws mandate that I send them back. What can I do?”

The bride-to-be first disappeared into Mar-a-Lago owner Donald Trump’s private quarters to slip into something a little more sexy, and see-through, than her football-game clothes.

At one point, Crist ran into state GOP boss Jim Greer, who’s under fire for allegedly wasting party money on things like limo rides and massages. In a display of public approval, Crist gave him a long, firm man-hug.

March of Dimes officials, meanwhile, were hoping to raise in the $300,000-range for the children’s charity. Party planner Bruce Sutka made the grand ballroom look like a disco – complete with Village People-style dancing boys in leather cops outfits.

Nice touch: A model showed off extra-small fashion bikinis by walking through the black tie crowd!

Milling about the party: Tabloid heiress Patricia Callahan; former WPB mayoral candidate Al Zucaro with his usual escort, GOP moneywoman Yvonne Boice; luxury-car show organizers John Temerian and Scott Levinsohn; Palm Beach International Film Festival director Randi Emerman; Jewelry and antique show mogul Scott Diament; Timolin and Casey Cole, the twin daughters of music great Nat King Cole; and many others.

Who would leave a comment like this when 99.99% of the people who attended thought Elizabeth looked better than she ever has? Must be someone filled with jealousy and inadequacy. Wonder who that could be?

The event was beautiful and everyone did a terrific job for a great cause. Congratulations to you all!

I wonder how his benefactor, Dr. Steven Barton of Miami Beach, feels about the nuptials.

What a beautiful night! The chairs and the committee did a great job. Liz Belkin looked incredible! Whoever wrote the comment above is a jealous fool and needs to get a life.

Congrats to March of Dimes from someone who has been involved for years. The party was never better!!!!

Looks like Carol Rome really did a miracle on Charlie. The altar boy now behaves like Rudolph Valentino. Wow!

I agree with Comment #1. Elizabeth Belkin didn’t look that good and she has aged a lot. BUT she did a great job on the event, it was so much fun, and that’s what matters.

Elizabeth Belkin is gorgeous and looked beautiful at the party! Who ever wrote that needs to get a life and get over it! Shame on them!

The event was a BIG success and raised a good amount of money for a great cause. When people can only make negative comments about Liz instead of acknowledging the tremendous effort she and Maris put forth to make the evening an enjoyable and financiaaly success tells those that read these comments that there are people that are immature and ungrateful. Thank you Liz , oh and by the way you LOOK HOT !

[...] Charlie Crist is apparently as enthusiastic as ever about state GOP Chairman Jim Greer, per the Palm Beach Post, which saw Crist, fiancee Carole Rome and Donald Trump on Saturday night for a March of Dimes gala [...]

I have no clue what the first post was about — let me tell you, Liz Belkin is stunning. I’ll leave it at that or I will start sounding like a perv.

Who cares if Charlie Crist is gay or not. What matters is what he does as Governor of our state.
As for the Belkin woman, she is not important enough to have an opinion on.

Before I headed back to NYC this AM I wanted to add my own opinion on this blog… I have to admit I’m a bit of a greenhorn when it comes to this as I don’t think I have ever posted anything anywhere online. Maybe I’m more of the real world person where hiding behind a fake avatar name to insult someone seems a bit childish. What is lost here is the fact this night was not about Liz or the Gov but the March of Dimes and raising money for the most innocent beings on the planet… The night was a HUGE success and Liz and the other 2 chairs did an exceptional job. The space never looked better, the band from the Motor City was great and everyone who I spoke with had fun. Now, I am neither malicious nor do you care enough to me to make me crawl down into the gutter with you but to insult my good friend Liz simply makes you look petty. Most of all it is mean and you are probably better than this or I like to believe we all are…

I personal think she looked fantastic that night…

    Happy Holidays!

wow people are cruel. I am an old friend of Liz Belkin’s and know how hard she worked on this charity and the event. The event was a huge success and she happened to be the most stunning woman there. Anyone that would say nasty things are only jealous and really should feel sorry for themselves! In light of the world situation, I think everyone should be a little kinder…….

It’s the mean people in the world who force the best of us into hiding or doing nothing so as to save ourselves.

I came from Lahore, Pakistan as a young man for my Masters in Planning at the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida in 1988.

I was new to the US and have never heard before about Mr. Donald Trump. I had a natural interest in the development sector and his name, fame, style and fortune started intriguing me. I while as a student, purchased his book, “Trump, The Art of the Deal”.

After graduation, I was working with one of the biggest engineering consultancies in Florida. I used to idolize my self also in his foot steps as an aspiring developer.

I occasionally used to enjoy the historic architecture of the Palm Beach on my drive on the long-weak ends from Tallahassee.

I made in the Jan. 1992, a home video of the exterior of the classic houses of the Palm Beach from the road side; including of the Mar-a-Lago.

I visited in Jan. 1992 Manhattan and specially saw the newly built at that time, the majestic, “Trump Tower”.

I came back to Lahore, Pakistan in 1992 due to the family commitments and running my own planning / infrastructure consulting firm and also developing on a small scale an up-coming real estate project.

I shall like to mention here that my grand-father was one of the master developers / land-lords in the Lahore Cantonment by the turn of the twentieth century.

So in my formative professional years, Mr. Trump provided me the necessary stimulus and impetus because of his professional and personal flare.
