Schools send frontman D. Wade on long recess
He’s having a hall-of-fame season on the basketball court.
But off the shiny parquet, Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade kicked open the gates of the hall-of-shame: He’s facing accusations that he infected his soon-to-be-ex wife with a sexually transmitted disease.
And that may cost him his feel-good endorsement gig.
Several sources tell me Wade’s partners in a SoFla-based chain of charter schools for dropouts originally named for the flashy point guard are rethinking their association with him.
Wade’s name recently disappeared from the company logo, which used to read Mavericks High D. Wade’s Schools.
Now, it’s just Mavericks High.
And the Olympic hero is nowhere to be found on the Web site of the parent company, Mavericks in Education.
“They’re going to get rid of Dwyane but it’s not public yet,” said one source who asked not to be identified.
Wade signed on last year with great fanfare. He was to receive no salary but was handed an undisclosed number of shares. Last summer, CEO Mark Thimmig gushed: “He has a passion for kids.”
But details that wife, Siohvaughn, inserted in the couple’s divorce file in Chicago have given Thimmig and other owners the willies.
Wade’s wife, his high school sweetheart, accuses the baby-faced dunk artist of adultery, resulting in Wade passing on an undisclosed VD. She also says Flash, named Father-of-the-Year in 2007 by the National Father’s Day Committee, rarely sees their two boys.
And while he is generous to his friends and relatives, Siohvaughn said, he cut her and the boys off.
For the past two years, meanwhile, it seems that everywhere Wade appears, C-list actress Gabrielle Union isn’t far behind.
And suddenly, Wade doesn’t look like a role model, and Thimmig’s language has changed drastically.
“Mavericks has a strong commitment to the moral character of people,” he says. “We are paying attention to the situation with Dwyane’s family and we’d like to know more about the facts before we act.”
Thimmig said Wade¹s name didn’t disappear because of the divorce revelations.
“As of today, Dwyane is still a shareholder,” Thimmig said. “It’s just that we had been rethinking the marketing strategy of having his name there anyway. In some other areas of Florida, kids who support other NBA teams may not respond to Dwyane’s name. They have their own heroes.”
It’s also a sensitive time for the company, and any misstep could be fatal. Mavericks is opening its first five schools in August: three in Miami, one in Pinellas County and another in Osceola County. But applications in Palm Beach and Broward counties were recently denied because of deficiencies in school budgets and staff qualifications. The company is appealing.
Wade, meanwhile, was traveling with the Heat to Philadelphia and couldn’t be reached. And calls left with his business manager, Marcus Andrews, and a Heat spokesman weren’t returned.

D had a hard time in school and this just shows money does not help him with school
Dwyane once your a dumb ass always you will always be a dumb ass
Heat0305, do you have any idea what a capital crime against grammar that sentence is? You should be slapped with a Merriam-Webster dictionary.
It is nice to see the grammar cops are here protecting us from bad grammar. I hope it is not too late for Wade to get his act together and help the kids. I always thought that people that are in Wade’s position should help others. The more stores I see on Wade makes me think he may be like most of the other self serving money mongers. I just hope it is not too late for Wade. We the fans should take a look at the Heat Organization and there sponsors also; they allow Wade to act in this manner. I feel they are part to blame. The Heat and the sponsors may have the same morals as Wade, let’s hope not.
Dwyane is a mess now days; he isn’t playing his best even after his last years break. He played better in the Olympics when he needed to. I think Dwyane has Quite on us again. Dwyane is back to the Flash in the pan. Thinking of himself. I guess with him cheating on his wife why not cheat on us the fans. Dwyane gave his wife STD’s how he doesn’t care about the kids that he tells us he supports. I guess not he dumped his own kids for hookers and easy girls that don’t respect him or themselves. DWYANE IS STILL DWYANE the same as last year.
i think that wade has diminished as of late and he needs to bounce back before they start to criticize him and his team. The best time to make a difference is after the the all star break and try to make a run at the playoffs because if they fall back into mediocrity he will be followed with this critisism for the rest of the eason and possibly his entire career and it’ll probably get worse simular to michael phelps and that was just smoking out of a bong pipe just a picture
Guilty until proven innocent…right. If you morons dont know anything about basketball maybe you should keep your mouths shut..”he isn’t playing his best even after his last years break. He played better in the Olympics when he needed to.”
Way to show your intelligence. He’s leading the NBA is scoring, 9th in assists, 3rd in steals, and 18th in blocks AS A GUARD.
His soon to be ex wife sounds bitter and angry that she lost her man therefore dragging his name through the mud is her only card.
Not one mention of the house (completely furnished right down to the Christmas presents) that he purchased for a family whose house burnt down 3 days before Christmas….nah that doesnt fall in line with the stories’ bashing nature.
Remember what your reading before commenting….page 2…basically a tabliod.
All the haters must be sorry Knick fans…..
[...] Well, first we tell them their charter school isn’t named after him anymore. [...]
D Wade is not a good role model, he does not even spend time with his own children. In my eyes, he is a deadbeat dad.
You ladies out there, if you are thinking about how fine d. wade is, think about making a date with your doctor. I suggest you all you ladies, keep your legs closed. You could be in danger girl!
Listen, I think that , if he was a real role model, he would not be giving anyone an STD, including his wife. I believe that he should keep it in his pants and stop passing it around. Sometimes we have to remember that you can’t mess with peoples lives, because STD’s can hurt everyone. He is suposed to be a big basketball player and well known, and yet, he has all these issues, he should go get a tissue for all the issues that he has.
D. Wade, imagen mothers of the girls between 18 and 21 going to the D Wade High School. D Wade making a personal visit to your daughter’s school and takes your daughter to a club in Miami and sleeps with her that night and sends her home with a STD gift. D. Wade, the gift that keeps on giving.
I don’t understand the problems with these sports players money and sex with other women, when they are suppose to be a role model for our younger kids. what kind of example are they setting. Not only are they disrespecting women and their families, how can a maried man do this to his wife, by giving her that kind of a gift.
Mr Wade is not a good role model for anyone as well as himself. To do a dumb thing like this, we alway talk about educate our childrens now the school is close what an ahole.
