Steve-O, PBC’s boy on ‘Dancing With The Stars’
If Jackass star Steve-O makes a few cuts in ABC’s Dancing With The Stars — and nobody, but nobody expects him to hang on for long — he’ll have SoFla to thank. (While his performance last night was better than expected it still wasn’t great-O, says TV Talk blogger.)
His sister, Palm Beach County schoolteacher Cindy Glover, has kicked off her grass-roots campaign to persuade fans here to vote early and often for Steve-O and pro partner Lacey Schwimmer.

Steve-O, from here . . .

. . . to here, with Lacey Schwimmer
“Steve is naturally very athletic and acrobatic,” says Glover, 38, who teaches 11th and 12th grade history at American Heritage
School in Delray. “But he doesn’t have much rhythm, a problem with many skinny white boys. That makes him a definite underdog.”
As a matter of fact, Steve-O’s previous dancing experience, before Monday’s DWTS premiere on WPBF-Channel 25, may have been the few steps he took with the mother of his b.f.f., Kevin Biemuller, Nov. 1 in Jupiter. (See above)
But more than any other candidate in this eighth season of the popular competition, the 34-year-old Steve-O (Stephen Glover) is our local guy.
Sure, New York Giants great Lawrence Taylor is also vying for the winner’s disco ball, and he lives in Broward County. But he’s expected to garner more support from the Northeast.
Steve-O, meanwhile, lived with his family in The Seasons gated community of Boca Raton. Before going to a clown college on Florida’s left coast, Steve-O tried academia for a year or so. He went to the University of Miami but dropped out to follow The Grateful Dead on tour.
He then worked as a clown at the Swap Shop circus in Pompano Beach as Jackass, the TV show, was picked up by MTV.
An early segment in which the gang jumps in a kiddie pool filled with elephant dung cemented the show’s rise as an MTV mainstay. It was filmed at the Glover home at The Seasons.
“He saved up the poo from the Swap Shop circus for three days and brought it home in Hefty bags,” Cindy recalls.

And just like for his pranks, big sis says, Steve-O has been working hard on DWTS. He’s been clean and sober for a year now, after admitting to being a drug abuser, and suddenly became a water-drinking vegetarian. Also, Cindy says, the notorious chain-smoker has given up that nasty habit right on time for training.
“Hopefully, what (the DWTS) viewers will see,” she says, “is that he’s the guy who tries the hardest, complains the least and has a really good time doing it.”

I like Steve O. I think WPEC should hire him to be General Mangager. Just think how much fun it would be over there with Randi in sales. What hoot that would be!!
I would really like to see him bring home the trophy. I think with enough support and a strong fan base this will show him and everyone, you can change! and succeed! in life if you really want it.
