A real estate source in the West Palm Beach suburb tells me the singer of Like a Prayer and Like a Virgin recently signed a lease on a sprawling crib at Palm Beach Polo and Country Club. The one-month lease expires March 31, but the singer is so taken by Wellington that she is looking to buy.

Between now and then, the singer is expected to continue her horseback riding training, including jumping and polo. Madonna first spent two weeks in Wellington in January with her personal trainer. She left for New York City but returned a week later to hammer out the lease details and hang out with polo superstar and Ralph Lauren model Nacho Figueras.
I’m told the lease is worth $50,000 for the month. The home, on Sheltingham Drive, once belonged to cable’s BET network co-founder Sheila Johnson. Johnson sold the 10,000-square-foot home in 2006 for $3.5 million.
The 50-year-old singer will have plenty of space, with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
The current homeowners, Virginia-based private investor Bob Aron and his wife, Janice, couldn’t be reached for comment. But real estate records show they’ve put the home back on the market, for $6.5 million. Realtor Carol Sollack, who has the listing, declined comment. I’m told all parties signed iron-clad confidentiality agreements.
The Polo Club has seen its share of famous faces over the years, including British royalty Prince Charles and Princess Di in the 1980s. And Madonna’s new neighbors includes some of this country’s richest, like Johnson & Johnson heiress Diana Firestone.

My life is now truly complete since she has moved to Wellington. There is nothing left for me now that can top this, except word is on the street that she is planning to have once a month kitten and puppy sacrifices to the Norse Gods. It has also been said that she will place them upon spikes in her front yard and she taunt women and children passing by.
Oh brother… this is exactly what we need.. another clown in the Palm Beach County circus.

Very smart, ego-centric woman…I think its great. Would love to have all the spoils she can afford. I was never caught up in her, but many were and made her the rich woman she is today. All in all, I’m with the more the merrier…

I hope she moves here! I absolutly think she is amazing and I have seen her everytime shes been to south florida. Shes def. one of the most talented people in music and if she wants to move here….. that just makes her even more badass.
I think that it is friggin awesome that she is thinking about buying a home in Wellington! I don’t have a problem with her moving here since I am one of her biggest fans!!!!!!!!! I just don’t think for those who have nothing nice to say should keep their opinions to themselves. She is one of the biggest pop icons and has been for the past 24 years! I really hope that she does buy a home in Wellington!!!
Well, i’ve been one of her friends for a long time and i must tell you she REALLY loves Florida. She lived in Miami (Brickell Avenue - next to Viscaya Museum) once and she just left because she married and went on to live in London. Now that she has divorced her (ex) husband she told me she’s coming back to Florida, this time to Palm Beach so she can ride her horses (2) more often (although she will live permanent in Manhattan, that’s her main house). You all should be glad she’s returning…she loves Florida, folks !!
