Boxer Big Time McCline finds job, in drying tank
There’s some good news for West Palm Beach heavyweight boxer Jameel “Big Time” McCline.
His incredible streak of bad luck – the losses of: a WBA crown, because of a dislocated knee; his wife, in a divorce; a home, to foreclosure; and his $100,000 VW, from theft – finally may be over.
McCline has landed a good day job which, he says, makes him financially independent from boxing for the first time since his late teens.
McCline, 39, was named director of wellness at the brand-spanking new ultra-luxury drug and alcohol rehab center in North Palm Beach, Seaside Palm Beach.
From his 6-foot-6 frame McCline – who fights on HBO April 11 for the No. 1 spot in the world – will be overseeing the physical part of the place’s rehab programs.
That includes fitness and nutrition.
“Because I’m a pro athlete, I designed this program that takes care of emotional, physical, mental and spiritual components,” McCline told Page2Live. “My life coach hooked me up with Seaside and I couldn’t be happier. I get to work one-on-one with the guests.”
McCline says he can empathize with the drying tank’s patients, who can afford at least $30,000 for a 30-day program, because he’s gone through some of the same difficulties.
“I’ve had my problems with drugs and emotions,” he said. “I went into rehab when I lost to Sam Peter (at Madison Square Garden in 2007). I’ve been there, bro. But, of course, nowhere as nice as Seaside.”
How nice is it?
“Oh my God,” he said, “they have a concierge service and personal chefs.”
As for his April 11 bout, McCline predicted his opponent, Chris Arreola, won’t make it past the seventh round.
“My head is just right,” he said, “and I don’t have the pressure that boxing’s my only career.
“I’ve got Seaside, and I’m finding investors to put money into wind energy farms. I’m juggling three jobs.”
Said Seaside founder Don Mullaley: “Jameel is considered one of the giants of the heavyweight division. He’s also one of the good guys of the sport. He’ll be a terrific resource for the guests.”

I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Jameel a couple of years ago and I must say, any success he finds is 100% deserved. He is a great, great guy. A true gentle giant. I can’t stress how great of a guy he was to me and everyone I worked with over the months that we got to know him. I wish him all of the best and, oh yeah, he got hosed on the decision in that title fight!! Here is to one more shot for Big Time McCline!!
Jameel is one of the choosen few that can excel in anything he puts his mind to. He’ll be the first to tell you his bad luck has made him stronger. This is a new beginning for him; the world is about to see just what a superstar he really is and not just in the ring.
Jameel “Big Time” McCline is the real deal. I never miss his fights. He is truly is the Champ no matter happens this April 11th in Vegas at Mandalay Bay. He has done a lot in and for the community of Palm Beach. Champions are born not made.
