Democrats promised an anti-Rush Limbaugh campaign in the radio hothead’s own hometown, and they’re delivering.
The Democratic National Committee is unveiling today its response to Conservative-in-chief’s statement earlier this year that he hoped President Barack Obama would fail. This truck is scheduled to pull into downtown West Palm Beach this morning, then drive all over the area for the rest of the week.
When Page2Live e-mailed Limbaugh the picture, he replied: “I honestly can’t figure out just who this billboard is criticizing. It appears to me as though the DNC may not be happy with President Obama’s takeover of GM/Chrysler.”
And he couldn’t help but sound off about the truck: “And that certainly doesn’t look like the kind of cheap, tiny Green Hybrid vehicle Obama Motors wants us all driving.”
After Palm Beacher Limbaugh’s quip earlier this year, the DNC ran a national slogan contest, with the winning entry plastered where Limbaugh could see it. He drives every morning over one of the bridges from his beach-side compound to his studio in a West Palm warehouse.
A rally in front of the billboard (which says “Americans didn’t vote for a Rush to failure” next to a shadowy representation of Limbaugh smoking a fat stogie) is scheduled for 11 a.m. today on lower Clematis. Speakers include West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel. Is the lovefest she and Limbaugh had last year when they ran into each other in a Palm Beach steakhouse but a distant memory?
“To me, Rush Limbaugh is a great showman,” Herhoner said. “But I don’t agree with most of what he says. We just want to send the message that most Americans want Obama to succeed.”

Wave the White Flag in the Limbaugh War
President Obama and the Democrats should wave the white flag in their strawman war on Rush Limbaugh. The Media Research Center delivered the grim casualty figures for the Democrats. Since January, the top talk show gabber’s ratings have soared off the charts. Radio affiliates that carry Limbaugh’s syndicated show call the ratings boost he’s gotten from the Democrat’s orchestrated attack on him a “dramatic surge.” This writer predicted as much when President Obama cracked to Congressional Republicans in late January that they should knock off listening to Limbaugh if they expected to get anything done in Congress and with his administration.
The gabber instantly snatched at the quip and turned it into a multi show bonanza. No matter what topic Limbaugh gassed on, he managed to slide in a reference to Obama’s prop up of him as the Democrat’s prize punching bag. This did three things. It gave him an even bigger pile of fodder to puff himself up as the emperor of talk radio, claim to be the real kingmaker in the GOP, and in a perverse way paint himself as a credible and thoughtful political critic. It snapped many shell shocked Congressional Republicans out of their post election funk. Now suddenly feisty and combative, they draw a deep line in the sand against any and everything that Obama proposed. And it stiffened the spines of many timid Republicans and made them determined not to be bullied, or at least appear not to be bullied, by a mere talk show host into standing up to Obama.
This should have been the red flag warning to the Democrats to drop Limbaugh from their enemies rolodex. But no, they continued to blunder on. They took out ads, radio spots, and email blasts bashing and trashing bogeyman Limbaugh. The idea was to make sure that when the public thought GOP, they thought Limbaugh.
This was even more grist for Limbaugh. An he went on a tear. In quick succession he picked a fight with Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele, Newt Gingrich, a handful of GOP accomodationists, and the usual suspect to him liberal Democratic interest groups. But the real payoff was that it let him pad his bully pulpit to further whip up the pack to nit pick, poke fun at, and blow up any and every alleged slip or misstep by Obama. This in turn added even more steam to his inflammatory campaign of rumors, half truths, distortions, and flat out lies about Obama, liberals, and just about any other issue he rants on.
Any other time this might be fun and games stuff, a side show distraction that bored reporters and TV talking heads used to fill up column space or a talk cast on off a slow news day, but the Democrats just couldn’t let it go. And that insured that the Limbaugh as Democrat’s foil ploy would continue to have shelf life.
Limbaugh in a phony self-deprecating moment mockingly minimized his importance as a radio talk show host, feigning puzzlement at why the Democrats were so obsessed with him. He was right. They never should have been. Obama didn’t need him to get Congressional Democrats and whipsaw a few Republicans into backing his program and to approve his cabinet appointees. He still doesn’t. And that’s all the more reason to wave the white flag in the Limbaugh war.

Amazing how the Democrats forget the polls showing 50% of Dems want Bush to fail, the numerous admissions by liberal talking heads that they want the US to lose the war in Iraq to “teach us a lesson” and James Carville (mere hours before 9/11) saying that he wants Bush to fail.
Let’s see, the people that didn’t like him before still don’t like him, the people that did listen are still going to listen, so it isn’t changing any minds there. To me it is just more advertising for him paid for by the DNC, people will now tune in to see what the fuss is about. If there are more unemployed that means this could boost his ratings. The controversy is a month old and most people have forgotten or don’t know what it is about. Most people wont understand what the billboard is trying to imply.
With all the worries of global warming and the environment I would really think a roving billboard would be a bad idea. A waste of money and not a smart move no matter how you look at it.
This is one of the dumbest things I have heard of. Let alone a waste of money. It is really mind boggling to thing that people would spend money on this. Rush is going to get some amazing free publicity out of this one. Unbelievable. The only one that will benefit from this is the guy getting paid to drive the truck. Hey it must be part of the plan to get americans back to work. I wonder if he is getting stimulas money to drive that sign around. Maybe he is a new start up business and has hired others to do the same thing in other towns. Now that is putting Americans back to work. What a plan. The only thing I am wondering is will Rush have class or will he respond with his own truck. If he hires his own truck I want to apply.
I was a republican for many years and shifted to the center during the Bush Admin and will remain there. Being a Vietnam Vet and experiencing conflict is one thing but to yield to the past bush policies would be criminal and for all you republicans including John McCain who sided with those policies should consider taking a walk and should be ashamed of yourselves. Republicans need to learn and live in humulity instead of creating more chaos and whinning. You all had your chance and it didn’t work give the new administration a chance it won’t be perfect but it will be far better than what you republicans are proposing. This is generation X let them run things you old farts need to step aside with your old fashion ideology.
We can’t win in Iraq or Afganastan who we kidding this is the 21 century why don’t we try diplomacy until it hurts.

Driving around “all over the area for the rest of the week”, in a big truck that probably gets less than 10 miles per gallon. That’s good for the environment! What happened to global warming? Why create all of these unnecessary carbon emissions?

Another example of Obama’s ineptness. He mentions the guy by name on television, and doesn’t realize what kind of ratings and power that gives him. The same as when he concedes to meet with dicatators, it gives relivance and power to their murderous dicatotrships, because they are put on the same level with real representative governments.

Hell even Obama, who favors infanticide, gets invited to Notre Dame and Bush, who tried to save the country, had liberals screaming every time he was invited to speak somewhere. Where’s the sense in that?
Sometime, in my lifetime, I hope the Democrats have to pay for their transgressions. All it’s going to take is for a few more newspapers to go down the tubes. Of course the Pelosi congress will probably offer them a bailout, since it’s difficult to get free propaganda anyway, so they might as well pay for it.

You are so correct in saying that Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd are the real reason for our economic demise. But there plan to deminize the bankers and capiltalist will be the reason to vote these Socialist out of office and get back to some sanity. I clearly heard Rush Limbaugh say that he wanted the policies of the President Barrack Obama to fail, not the President to fail. Why would anyone want policies that are inconsistent with American values to succeed? Furthermore, I get the feeling that this administration, and the entire Democrat Party is scared to death of Rush Limbaugh.
