– Call him Rasputin! Manny Bornia came back from the professionally moribund. He was forced to resign as director of Wellington’s beleaguered Cultural Trust of the Palm Beaches a year ago when it became apparent that the group’s arts campus would never be built. But last week, he was named president of the equally troubled Daytona Beach International Festival after the previous leader was fired as a cost-cutting measure. According to the published reports, the funds for the prestigious spring festival are running dry.
– Sammy Sosa once was suspected to be a steroid-fueled baseball hitter who couldn’t hablar when it came to testifying to the US Congress about the drug. But it sure looked like the retired Sosa, now this greasy bloated lounge lizard, spoke English fairly well in the Miami Beach nightclub Mynt Saturday night when he ordered 24 (we counted) bottles of Cristal.

Is this another case of not letting facts stand in the way of a snarky comment?
I know it’s rumored, but did Sammy ever say he used roids? His bat we know was corked, but the Mitchell report didn’t name him.
The Sosa article…veiled racist comments and a pathetic attempt at humour. Mr. Lambeverga is without a doubt the worst columnist in South Florida. How he got this far is beyond me.
I don’t see anything necessarily racist about the Sosa comment — if you remember YOUR facts, Mike, Sammy Sosa DIDN’T speak English at the Congressional hearing.
As for snark, if you didn’t want that, why the hell’d you visit this site?
Sosa Said to Test Positive in 2003 according to the NY Times. Lambert you need to change the words from once to confirmed. This according to lawyers with knowledge of the drug-testing results from that year.

Upon review of the next day’s news, I fully take back my comment about it being a rumor that Sosa was on roids.
