Dwyane Wade on the red carpet of the Summer Groove Friday night

The Summer Groove, a weekend long charity wingding thrown every year by Miami Heat superstar Dwyane Wade and Heat retiree Alonzo Mourning, is in full swing.

In addition to a celebrity ball game with the likes of Lebron James Sunday evening at the Triple A downtown Miami, the duo has come up with a full schedule of goodies, including a $500-a-head gala dinner tonight at the Seminole Hard Rock.

And Friday night, Cedric The Entertainer had Groove goers in stitches at the event’s comedy show, also at the Hollywood casino/resort.

Mourning is a fraud - when the new AA Arena opened and he was union steward for the players union - all the food & beverage workers - most living in Liberty City, were fired because they had a union at the old Miami Arena. The workers went to Mourning for help - he ignored them - even though they marched on Biscayne Blvd. into the Heat offices. Mourning refused to take a stand for them in any way - today even though the jewish owner of the team - Micky Arison who is not a US citizen gets $5 million a year from taxpayers to repay the loans to build AA Arena, which is his, no unions are allowed at the arena other than the millionaire players union. So the poor got screwed and Mourning didn’t care - but he puts on this show party, which was rated as one of the 5 worst performing charities based on what percentage of the cash actually foes for good deeds versus what is spent on the parties and the millionaires who attend them. To say this is a “charity” is a joke. To say Mourning actually cares about the community is a lie. When he could of shown character he chose to run and hide like a wimp.

    Joe,

Your innuendo, biasness, lies, unconventional judgments, exaggeration, selfishness, speculation, false reports, is disbursing but amusing to say the least. Stop throwing a temper tantrum because Alonzo didn’t meet your PERSONAL “career” DEMANDS. People are a trip, the minute you don’t give them personalize attention and meet their expectations & demands, they are quick to whine and spew their demise over how you are not helping the community (when they themselves are not doing anything). Mourning and his wife’s fruit of their labor says otherwise. The man can only do so much, and he can’t help everyone. The nerve of you to have an attitude because he didn’t “help” save your job or other people’s jobs– When a child has been abused went down the wrong path, homeless, or dying of a terminal illness. Well excuse Alonzo for taking action and being compassionate on the issues for what really matters. The question is why didn’t you ask, or arrange a meeting with the REAL decision makers (leaders) of the AAA or the union to reconsider renewing your job contracts? If that were not possible, then what’s wrong with you and the others FILLING OUT another job application to find another job or maximize your education by going back to school? It’s called responsibility. It’s not all about you, other people are going through far worse than you are, who are not looking for handouts, or blaming other people for what losses they encounter, but turning around whatever life hands them and making it work into the best.
