Boca Raton loves a good shindig, and the yearly Wine & All That Jazz is one of the finest in town.

The Chamber of Commerce put together the affair Saturday night at the Boca Raton Resort. Guests got to taste 100-plus wines (they serve just one mouthful at a time, but there are enough tables to keep the glass filled up) while being serenaded by local jazz bands.

The parent company of WPEC-Channel 12 is expected to file for bankruptcy Tuesday, according to several newspaper reports.

Freedom Communications, the company started 70 years ago to air out Libertarian values, may file as early as Tuesday, the New York Times reports today.

What does it mean for the likes of star anchors Liz Quirantes and Curt Fonger and John Matthews?

Not much, a station insider tells Page2Live.

“This station is one of their most valuable assets,” the source said. “Viewers won’t see a difference. We probably won’t go to a single anchor format or anything.”

In addition to the CBS affiliate, the company also owns 30 newspapers, including the large Orange County Register in California.

“We continue to work with our lenders on the capital structure of the company,” said company President Doreen Wade. “She wouldn’t comment further.”

WPEC took several economic measures this year, including layoffs in January, unpaid furloughs in March and the summer announcement that salaries would be cut by five percent.

Wild 95.5’s morning jock Jason Pennington is on a mean streak.

For the second time in a month, a stunt backfired on the guy, this time literally.

Pennington was channeling his rapper alter ego, The Value Meal Killah, for a stage show Friday night at Palm Beach Garden’s Ouzo Blue when things went south.

He first fell flat on his back on the slick stage as he attempted a wrestling stunt. With his back locked into place, security guards carried him away — then dropped him on his back for a second time.

In pain but determined to finish the gig, Pennington then sat in a chair to show his fire-eating prowess. Not only did he burn himself, but the jolt of the pain caused him to fall from the chair, on his back.

“I’ve been laying down on my floor since then and I’m taking care of the burns,” Pennington said Saturday morning. “But the crowd seemed to get a kick out of it.”

Pennington toilet-papered WPB Mayor Lois Frankel’s house this month. Only, it wasn’t Frankel’s house, but her neighbor’s. He’s been part of the station’s morning crew, with Virginia Lang and Kevin Rolston, for five years.

The saga of the Port St. Lucie High School biology teacher fired for moonlighting as a bikini-clad mate on a fishing charter has taken a sordid turn.

Tiffany Shepherd, 31, has set out to make money again by flaunting what God gave her.

This time, however, it’s not by serving stiff drinks to some amateur fisherman in her teeny number.

Shepherd’s a rising star in the porn industry. She plays either teacher types, or the wife-next-door.

“I’m not particularly proud of it. To be honest, I hate it,” Shepherd said. “I’m an educated woman, but I never thought it would come to this. No one gets brought up thinking they’ll be a floozy.”

Since her sacking made national news 15 months ago, Shepherd says she hasn’t been able to find a mainstream job.

Even at minimum wage.

Even after sending out 2,500 resumes, some as far as Idaho, some to prisons.

She’s lost custody of two of her three kids to her ex-husband. And she’s been evicted from two apartments.

Porn, she said, became her only avenue.

The rapper known as Vanilla Ice hit the Royal Palm Beach Rita’s Italian Ice with two ninos the other night. The singer of the 1980s hit Ice Ice Baby and star of the reality hit The Surreal Life lives in Wellington, a couple miles down the street from the Southern Boulevard store. A bystander tells me Ice ditched the vanilla to order tropical punch flavor, while the kids had custard.

The spirit of Michael Jackson loomed over downtown West Palm Beach Thursday evening, for a Clematis-by-Night tribute to the dead King of Pop.

Organizers of the monthly party brought in Tony Wilson and the Godfather of Soul Band to conjure up MJ, while some of the 3,000-plus in attendance brought their Jackson memorabilia.

The sister of the 16-year-old Delray high schooler killed on her bike by a 94-year-old driver says Bettina Ryan’s death will not have been in vain.

Alix de la Moussaye, daughter of former Palm Beach society bad boy Jean de la Moussaye, tells me doctors harvested Bettina’s skin and will be able to treat up to 120 children who suffer from skin injuries, especially burns.

“The hospital just wrote us a letter saying how helpful Bettina’s gift was,” Alix de la Moussaye said.

Ryan was a bright student at St. Andrews School in Boca. She was weeks away from embarking on a behind-the-scenes “good student” tour of Washington, D.C. and the White House, when she was mowed down by Delray resident Louis Bellet’s SUV. He hasn’t been charged in connection with the Aug. 10 accident, which occurred as Bettina crossed Atlantic Avenue against a red light.

“She wanted to donate her organs,” Alix de la Moussaye said, “but some of them shut down after the crash and it didn’t happen. So they took her skin.”

Bettina was born into Palm Beach’s McMahon clan. Her grandmother is Betty McMahon, a socialite and author. Her mother, Francine Ryan, was once married to race-car driver Jean de la Moussaye.

Right on time for the start of the U.S. Open, Palm Beach Gardens tennis champ Serena Williams unveiled her wax figure Thursday at Madame Tussauds in Manhattan. Serena in-the-flesh is on the left. And in case you’re wondering, the superhero boots and cheerleader getup were worn by Williams during the 2004 tournament.

Williams’ memoir, meanwhile, comes out in hardcover Tuesday. On The Line goes into the shooting death in 2003 of Williams’ sister, Yetunde Price, and Williams’ insecurities about her body.  Yep, Serena Williams does feel fat at times. At least, her wax dummy will never have to worry about yo-yo weight.
