– Here’s a nice twist to a national gossip story: Jude Law’s soon-to-be baby mama, Pensacola resident Samantha Burke, is a former Hooters girl. Of course, you’d be tempted to say. In Pensacola, after all, Hooters food passes for gourmet. And being a Hooters girl could launch a buxom local to stardom. TMZ today has pictures of Burke’s stint as a chicken wing pusher last year. The 24-year-old aspiring model is said to have met the pretty blue-eyed Brit (Cold Mountain, Alfie) outside a New York City pub last year. The two reportedly spent last Christmas in bed, and Burke told Law last week she’s due in the fall.

– Speaking of random sex. When the New York Yankees showed up in Fort Lauderdale for spring training in 1983, the buzz mostly involved the wife-swapping pitchers. A few months earlier, Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich had decided to take up with each other’s wives, kids and dogs. Now, for the first time since, Peterson is giving the inside baseball of that story in a new book, Mickey Mantle Is Going to Heaven. Peterson, now 67, tells the Boston Herald he’s found God and wanted to correct many inaccuracies in the way the story is now being told. The book, which should be on the shelves by month’s end, tells how the idea of switching wives came when he and his then-spouse Marilyn ran into Kekich and his Suzanne at a barbecue in late 1972. By the end of the party, Peterson had talked Kekich into letting him drive home with Suzanne, while Kekich would leave with Marilyn. Soon after, they were dating each other’s spouses. “At first, we were having fun, nothing serious,” Peterson said. But he eventually married Suzanne. They’re still together. Kekich and Marilyn were on and off for years but never married. The kids, four among the two couples, said Peterson, suffered from it.  ”The older ones were confused, and it bothered them for the rest of their lives,” he said.
