Boca actress keeps toe in Hollywood waters

burnnotice

That’s Boca Raton actress Tamara Jones, preparing for a scene with Hollywood star Bruce Campbell in Burn Notice. Jones, the wife of Boca Raton Community High School principal Geoff McKee, is a regular in series or films shot in the area. She was in the South Florida classics Cape Fear with Robert DeNiro and The Mean Season, with Kurt Russell. “We did this Burn Notice scene on Dinner Key Marina (in Miami),” Jones said. “I play a Navy lieutenant whose computer Bruce’s character wants to get in. He’s tricking me.” Jones says she’s a homemaker, but she keeps her toe in showbiz by doing small parts whenever she can. “I got $1,500 for the day,” she said. “Not bad for a day’s work.” The episode is scheduled to air sometime in January on the USA Network.

Not bad for a day’s work.. how about not bad for a week’s work. I love how this is on one page and the next page on the post shows how teachers are being passed up after losing their jobs.

Give it a rest, ePoster. This lady’s good fortune is not responsible for the misfortune of some teachers. Not even her principal husband has anything to do with it. I guess if one person is unhappy and unemployed, everyone needs to be unhappy and unemployed. Once all of Obama’s policies are instituted, you will get your wish.

I’m with EPoster, not everyone is all gaga over such trivial matters. Some of us live in the “real world” and arent as fortunate as those that live vicariously thru the lives of others/celebrities and the like. And if you are so aware of all of Obama’s policies and you allow them to be instituted instead of standing up for your rights as a citizen and protesting then you deserve whatever you get. Another dumbed down American. Wake up to the real instead of salivating over bs trivial celebrity gossip. We are in the last days of a country we once knew and the “stargazers” will be the ones hardest hit when it all becomes a reality for them “for real”.

So Ron, its all Obama’s fault? I guess you have failed to learn how to take responsibility for your own life. I have no sympathy for such cry babies.

Congratulations Tamara, I imagine you deserve it.

Tamara is giving me a (bleep-)er.

riodejaneiro and EPoster you two are miserable humans. While you are focusing all of your pointless misery mindedness on the economy you are trying to bash this nice lady who is enjoying herself and doing something that is actually fun. Film is a tough industry and the people who work in it, talent included, are hard workers. An average film day is about 15-18 hours for most of the crew. It is not glamorous. Film companies hire a lot of locals and pay them for their efforts. There should be more filmmaking in South Florida the amount of jobs would increase the revenue and employment opportunities for many. I am glad Jose posted this story, it’s nice to see something happy and uplifting in the press besides all of the bad stuff and the smoke and mirrors politics we see on a daily basis. Besides that, Bruce Campbell is AWESOME!!! GO ASH!

Alan, I’m the crybaby? I’m happy for the actress. I clicked on the story because my wife and I enjoy the show. I was responding to eposter’s lamententing about the plight of teachers which has nothing to do with this story. Maybe you need to work on your reading comprehention.

As for rio, how would you know what I am and am not doing about Obama’s policies? Isn’t posting here about it an example of me exercising my right to free political speech? Maybe I do that 24/7, how would you know otherwise?

And who is gaga over this? Not me. If I’m not mistaken, you clicked on the same link I did to get here.If you weren’t a little interested I guess you would not have read the story.

As for Ron…As you said, we still have the right to “free” speech, be it political or otherwise and that includes the right to read whatever I choose. I am indifferent to this lady’s contribution because I unfortunately love this country more than I do glitter and glam and I reach out to those that seem oblivious to our daily loss of freedoms and they are usually found on the Gossip pages. Why all fired up over my not being on the happy bandwagon? If that energy could be used to defend and stand up for this country as opposed to this lady’s contribution maybe we’d all be better off.

And as for MovieFan…I wont even dignify that remark with a response. You made point beautifully.

Politics doesn’t belong here. If only the Evil Dead could vote!!
You said it….Bruce is cool as hell.

Interestingly enough, I am considered to be the miserable human being. I was just merely saying that she is calling it a “good days work” and I’m meeting people everday without jobs at all who would kill for $1500 a week, a month… at all. It wasn’t against the lady for being an actress, how could I ever socialize in public with being that distraught. It was merely a statement against her quoted words…

Calm down world and instead of assuming things through typed words.. really give it some thought and make comments on the article verses other’s comments to it.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH BEING ENTERTAINED AND ENJOYING ENTERTAINMENT. I love how every forum, comment section, blog has soooooo many negative responses! Comments here should be ABOUT THE TOPIC AND NOT YOUR FAVORITE OUTFIT, POLITICIAN, or personal problems! I LOVE BURN NOTICE, that I live somewhere where film industries want to film, that locals are hired and these people are sucessful! IN FACT, I’m sick of negative news about murder, murder for hire, the poor economy, the newest crooked politician and everyone else’s problems!

I’m with you QUIT. These articles are supposed to be a bit of entertainment news. If you want the serious stuff, then please go back to the main page. It is nice to get away from the negativity of everyday life every once in a while. As far as the article, I think it is nice that you don’t have to live in LA or NY to land a part in a movie. As far as her pay…good for her. Yes, that is over a months pay for me, but why should I be angry for someone elses fortunate situation. To Ron, I did understand your blog the 1st time I read it and could not understand what the other 2 were talking about. To Rio, as far as living in the “real world” as you call it. Do you watch TV? I occasionally enjoy getting away from the everyday rat-race and live for 30 mins or more in TV land. However I don’t live through the eyes of others, so stop thinking that you know everyone. Do we need to be serious and miserable every minute of everyday? Maybe things would be different if everyone didn’t. Enjoy life as it comes, don’t dissect it.

Whoa, look at the catfight about a local actress who is lucky enough to get bit parts on national television shows that are filmed here. To those who had beef with her for not being more ecstactic about the money she made–she is right–for people who work in her industry, $1,500/day is not much–not when you have people like Paula Abdul turning down seven figures for essentially being a judge at a talent show. I don’t see Ms. Jones or her husband quitting their day jobs to live off her acting gigs–it seems like a nice supplement to her income that could cash in big one day if she is a regular in a hit series or has a juicy part in a movie that kills and gets her noticed. I’m happy for her.

This does belong in the paper (local folks of note), helps a fledgling local industry (TV and Movie business in So Fla.) and it is newsworthy for people who watch Burn Notice (has to be better news than the lead actor of the show getting busted for a DUI). It also shows you that you don’t have to be a raging egomaniac to make a few bucks as an actor. Apply yourself to the craft and make the effort and you can do the same thing–be it acting or other personal endeavors.

And no, Walter, it has nothing to do with Obama.

    Your roll…

    Your roll.

Rock on! Florida actors compete against L.A. actors, so when they get a job on a hit show, it’s a feather in our collective cap. Congrats, hometown girl!
