Screenwriter, novelist and ex-Hollywood wife of uber-producer Brian GrazerGigi Levangie Grazer spills the nasty details of divorce in her new novel, Queen Takes King.

 Gigi Levangie Grazer

The latest work by the author of Los Angeles-based Rescue Me, Maneater and The Starter Wife , Queen Takes King is set in New York, “I moved my family to New York with my Was-band. I call him my Was-band because it’s nicer.”

Page2Live met Gigi at Books & Books, Miami Beach.

Gigi develops her characters, “By drawing upon people I know, of course.” She’s interviewed The Donald, among others. Then adds, “I make composites, but if you make a man handsome and a woman thin and beautiful, it doesn’t matter what you say.”

In Queen Takes King, the husband is a real estate developer who leaves his wife of 25 years for a younger woman. But, after 25 years, he knows nothing about her!

She believes, “I write about things, and they tend to happen.”  Once, on a plane Gigi sat next to a mogul who told her, “My (expletive) soon-to-be ex-wife is holding up the divorce, if I could only get someone to date her!”  So, Gigi thought, “Hey, wait a minute, that’s a story! Think George Clooney leaves Sandra Bullock for Reese Witherspoon.”
