Mark Foley sniffing around political arena

You can kick the boy out of politics, but politics won’t be kicked out of the boy!

After dipping his toe back into society last year, former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley started appearing at political forums nearly three years after he resigned from Congress in a cybersex scandal.

The latest sighting was at Thursday’s health care debate at the government center in West Palm Beach. Folks went to hear what U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings and candidate for Florida House Allen West, but some privately heard from Foley.

Needless to say, like any Republican worth his anti-socialist stance, Foley’s against Obamacare.

What’s more, Foley appeared on the three networks affiliates here to comment on U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy death last week.

And his Facebook page is stuffed with political observations about former colleagues, mostly Democrats.

Of Boca Dem U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, who made the unfortunate choice of appearing at his health care forum through close-circuit television, Foley wrote: “A telethon is for Jerry Lewis and the kids . . . If you can’t stand the heat . . .

About scandal-prone U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel, a Dem whose tax returns don’t show millions in income: “He wants us to pay for all these new taxes . . . yet fails to pay his own . . . IT’S AN OUTRAGE . . .”

And this about Democratic leader, Nevada’s U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, who last week said he wished a Vegas newspaper go out of business: “Harry Reid wants business to fail in his state . . .”

“Mark is definitely trying to inch his way back into public life,” said Brian Crowley, a Foley friend and political observer. “He’s at a point where he’s close to being fully accepted back. Politics? That’d be more complicated.”

Foley didn’t return calls to answer whether he is setting himself up to get back into politics.

Do you think he should?

    hmmm….he gets appointed to some committe in the senate that is supposed to protect kids from online sex abuse.

    …then he allegedly resigns right after that for allegedly getting involved in online sex-type-abuse with underage boys.

    Now he wants to get back into politics.

    He sounds like the PERFECT CANDIDATE. He will fit right in with all the other politicians these days.

    HE, BEING A GAY MAN IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, HAD A GREAT CHANCE TO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN RATIONALE AND THOUGHT ABOUT HIS FELLOW GAY CONSTITUENTS……BUT WHAT DID HE DO…..BLEW IT! HOW DISGUSTING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAD A CHANCE FOR SOMETHING SO GOOD SPOILED IT BY HIS OWN SELF-SERVING INTERESTS.

    Yeah, if Foley gets back in, between him and Palin, we can be assured of nothing but Dems in power for the next 20 years. It’d be different if he actually had a brain, maybe…maybe!

    Paw, before you start pointing fingers, maybe you should look at the organizer of the forum, Alcee Hastings. He was impeached and removed from the bench for Judicial Conspiracy. In 1988, the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives took up the case, and Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury by a vote of 413-3. He was then convicted in 1989 by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be removed from office by the Senate.(NY Times)

    The Senate, also, had the option to forbid Hastings from ever seeking federal office again, but did not do so. (Law.com)

    Foley on the other hand may have had inappropriate behavior, but he never acted on his actions that he reportedly text to underage pages and an investigation proved that there was insufficient evidence to warrant charges, since the page in question was over 18. Foley resigned and admitted his error, sought out professional help. Hasting, however, never admitted his guilty and sought out judicial means to overture his conviction to no avail. In Hastings’ 10 years of office he had sponsored or co-sponsored 300 bills (+/-). Only one has ever passed. It makes me wonder what exactly Rep. Hastings is actually doing for us in Washington.

    Mark Foley actually answered all emails from constituents! Mark pushed family value legislation that made a difference. Let’s see, what crime was he charged with, besides being a Republican homosexual?? After extensive investigation at Federal and State level law enforcement concluded no crime was committed - nor alleged!!!

    Maybe Hastings and Foley should run together for president / v president in 2012?

    ++

    Qualifications?

    We know Hastings has been allegedly Impeached as a Federal Judge or something…so he qualifies as a modern politicion.

    Foley? Let’s see…

    FIRST we find this online:

    “…..In the House, Foley was one of the foremost opponents of child pornography. Foley had served as chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. He introduced a bill, coined the “Child Modeling Exploitation prevention Act of 2002″ to outlaw web sites featuring sexually suggestive images of preteen children, saying that “these websites are nothing more than a fix for pedophiles…..”

    Next comes this allegation, also online:

    “….The original news report prompted another page to come forward and on September 29, 2006, ABC News reported that it had seen excerpts of sexually explicit instant messages allegedly sent by Foley.[25] The instant messages made repeated references to sexual organs and acts.

    Kirk Fordham, Chief of Staff to Tom Reynolds and former Chief of Staff to Foley, said that he was with Foley on September 29, 2006, when ABC confronted him with the explicit messages before they were publicized.[26] Fordham then visited GOP headquarters to inform Reynolds and Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert; he returned with a one-sentence resignation letter that Foley signed.

    ++

    Of course, Tim Mahoney, I think, then won Foley’s seat only to allegedly get caught with his pants down too!

    ::::

    Conclusion, all of the above are BEAUTIFULLY qualified to enter our current world of political leadership in Washington?

    Mark Foley (pedo) getting back into office, he’s been soliciting pages since 1995 in the office, thats how stupid, duped people with money are who want to put him back in office for their own little lobby projects..

    Jose,
    I’m sure had Foley not been a Republican the two of you would be an item now.

    Mark you had your run, please get a real job and quit sucking at the govt teat. Good luck to you.

    It is not a crime being a gay republican, it’s disgusting being one and exhibiting the self-serving behavior he did. He let down us gay republicans that looked to him to make a difference. …..and the thing about him not being charged with anything……if you’re sexually texting and im-ing young pages, then you want to get in their pants and I’d bet anything he’s been in quite a few of their pants!

    Brian Crowley. Really? A friend and observer? It was left out that he is a Palm Beach Post reporter, covering politics no less. It would seem completely inappropriate for a politics journalist to comment on the return of Mark Foley, and hopefully the Post powers that be will put a stop to this once and for all. Making it worse, Brian’s wife is a public relations person who purports to know politics while her public relations knowledge comes from a her days as an administrative secretary in the Post newsroom, not as a journalist. There is a difference.

    Little Fact,
    Brian Crowley has not worked for the Post for more than a year. He joined “civilian” life and went to work for his wife’s public relations firm.
    In the absence of comment from Foley himself, he is the best we’ve got in this town. He talks to Foley several times a week and has advised him on several matters.
    He is a legitimate source who, in my view, presents no conflict.
    Thanks for commenting.

    no way would he get any support from the base… his best bet is to be a consultant for other politicians that have gone through similar transgressions.
