Watch out, Rush! Mark Foley wants radio stardom

Foley (By Brandon Kruse/The Palm Beach Post)
In his boldest, most public move since he resigned from the U.S. Congress in shame, Mark Foley is launching a new career in talk radio.
Treading on the territories of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, Foley’s new gig on WSVU-Seaview 960 AM is political talk.
“Mark called me out of the blue a few months ago,” said station manager Chet Tart. “I hadn’t heard from him in two years. He said he was considering a career in radio and he asked me if I’d help him out.
“I was shocked at first. But then, the more we talked, the more I starting thinking we could syndicate him nationally.”
Seaview, after all, was one of the first stations to put Don Imus back on last year, after his firing from CBS for calling the women on Rutgers University basketball teams “nappy-headed hos.” The station can be heard across Foley’s old district, between Delray and Vero Beach.
Republican Foley’s first show is scheduled to air at 6 p.m. Sept. 22, with repeats a few days later. The one-hour show, Inside the Mind of Mark Foley, will then be aired once a month. Once the Palm Beacher feels more comfortable, he’ll go on weekly.

“We’re easing him in,” said Tart, a former general manager and part-owner of WRMF-97.9 FM. “At first, we’re taping and editing before putting it on the air. He’ll bring his own guests on. Then we’ll go live, and he’ll take calls.”
Foley taped the first show Tuesday afternoon and talked about the Bernie Madoff financial scandal as well as what drives politicians.
“We’re all egotists,” Foley said about politicians during the taping. “Politicians are actors . . . looking for approval and applause.”
Said Tart: “His goal is to tell the average person the truth about how business is conducted in D.C. The fact he was an insider for so long gives him the edge. Rush Limbaugh never worked in D.C. Mark Foley did. You won’t hear this stuff anywhere else.”
When asked about giving a platform to a man whose blue e-mail to young male Congressional pages drove him out of office, Tart said: “People here still like him.”

But he’s brainless! Damn…Rush is a bigoted idiot, but at least has a double digit IQ. This dude…oooohhh, hard to stomach, but American gets what it deserves, I guess.
Can ten people hear this station on a good day?
Randy Rhodes may now have Competition, Rush and Glenn won’t even feel the difference….THEY RULE !!
If this drooling, bug-eyed sodomite gets on the air I will be his first caller. I will quote scripture and call for his repentance until he cries out to God for mercy. . . . is NOT a family value in the republican party talk radio world. MARK FOLEY Roast in hell . . . !
One time I tried to contact Foley and voice my concerns regarding illegal immigration. The District 16 office turned out to be a bathroom stall at Carlin park in jupiter. I set an appointment to talk to him. I arrived at the restroom and had to speak to him through a hole cut in the bathroom stall. What kind of congressman operates this way??
Archibald, clear concise to the point! Funny, Why would anyone think this bozo has anything of value to bring to the airwaves unless you are interested on how to attract young boy.
great, a love match, they can chase young boys together down clamatis……
I am a successful (yes wealthy also) professional proud GAY man. I have been in a committed relationship for 26 years. Mark Foley is a disgrace to the gay community. He is unable to stand proud for who he really is. I am very unconcerned about his alleged activities. Straight men have been visiting titty bars and flirting with 16 year old girls forever. Archie: “Let he who without sin cast the first stone”
960AM is a great radio station. Seaview is the only locally involved station period. No matter what you think about Mark he knows more about Washington DC than Rush or Glenn. Rush is a recovering drug addict, and Glenn is a recovering alcoholic. Be open minded and please give Mark a chance. Everyone giving feedback should do so with their age mentality not their shoe size.
this is an extremely low powered radio station (1000 watts), very few can access it even if they wanted to. If Mr. Tart is infatuated with Mr. Foley that is their business. But fear not homophobs, Seabreeze radio is not going gay all day…though there wouldn’t be anything wrong with that….there you go chet…you way ‘back’ to the big time of west palm radio………….
Why is it disgusting to be a (gay) only when you are a (gay) Republican?? And Mark Foley was a person that was charged with no criminal activity and resigned as soon as Dems outed him??
That is the hypocrisy of the tent of many colors - none are really anything more than a vote for power hungry losers such as NannyState Nancy and Hateful Harry - liars to the core, with nothing but contempt for any honest, working taxpayer…
Josie,
You and Mark can start a pitchers and catchers show.
You only wish you had 1/100th of the audience of Rush and Glenn.
Archie - you need to call your favorite radio station to vent, plus more people will hear your point of view over the air than through this message board. You are priceless! Rich is back from vacation next Tuesday, but I am sure you know that.
[...] Limbaugh added, few are shown the money. And that’s already the case for Foley, who taped this week the premiere of Inside The Mind of Mark Foley for airing Sept. 22 on West Palm Beach’s WSVU-Seaview 960 AM. He’ll be working for free, [...]
Obviously you do not know what Chet has done for this station. I know him and he is bar none the best GM in the market better than Clear Channel and CBS by far.
danella,
unless chet gets FCC approval to increase the power of that flashlight from it’s 1k status, it doesn’t matter what he puts on….my micro wave has more juice then 960…so that self serving comment by JOSE that
‘THE STATION CAN BE HEARd FROM JUPITER TO DELRAY’ IS preposterous….maybe on shortwave radio…seabreeze is a very light gay wind the blows only in jupiter…kinda like 760 ESPN…that’s another station with no signal……joyce kaufman would be good as the butch captain of that gay little crew……least there would be one man in the house….and she could bring her beard, the honorable Alan West…would chet and mark love that…

Mr. Foley resigned from the United States Congress for innapropriate contact with minor pages, at the same time he was chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children.
Mr. Foley’s text messages and emails to minor children working in the US Capital included:
- “Did you spank it this weekend yourself?” and “Where did you unload it.”
- “I am hard as a rock…so tell me when yours reaches rock”
- “Get a ruler and measure it for me.”
It’s sickening to retype. Why would you give a public voice to this man?
Do the residents of North Palm Beach truly want to know what is “inside the mind of Mark Foley?” Haven’t all Americans suffered enough from his manipulation of children and misuse of power?
Mr. Foley was a career hipocrit and liar. In 2002, he told National Public Radio:
- “I think what we’ve done here is allowed people to get away, if you will, whether it’s virtual reality or live children, exploiting them for sexual gratification.”
- “What I consider pornographic is when you’re allowed to interact with a person who has a less than desirable intent [on the Internet.]”
- “I look at this more from a child-endangerment aspect. It’s not necessarily that we have committed the crime already and can find reasonable cause to prosecute. My concern is it’s luring people into the likelihood that they become victims themselves. I think that’s a misuse of youth and I think it’s a way to soil their future…”
What will the station do when the topic of peadophilia arises? Allow Mr. Foley to lie and manipulate the public once more…or simply ask him not to show up for work that day?
How will the station respond if a minor child calls into the show with a comment or quesiton? Some parents were up in arms over the President giving a speech on education. Will these same parents want their children listening to this predator?
I’m very dissapointed. “Inside the Mind of Mark Foley” was a bad idea and should never air.
Shame on whomever gave this man a public voice in North Palm Beach.
A very prominent attorney in Palm Beach who has known Mark Foley for many years advises me that Mr Foley is gay but committed no crime. He was never charged with any crime.
What is going on with people who desire not to listen to his side of the
story? What are these people afraid to hear? What is the truth here?
I am reserving judgement until I hear what Mark Foley has to say.

16 years ago as an 18-year old male, I started a 10 year prison sentence for sexual assault. I did 10 complete years and now cannot find work in many cases not because of my conviction, but because I am listed on the sex offender registry that Mark Foley and others enacted.
What is the difference between my conduct, for which I accept full responsibility, and that of Mark Foley? All I see as a difference is that I was an 18-year-old who committed a henious crime against a 17-year-old female then owned up to my offense while Mark Foley (NOT a registered sex offender with a conviction, registered, etc.) is allowed to air a show because he had money and connections.
Where was John Walsh to advocate the justice on this one? He was politely ignoring this event to avoid damaging the political leverage he has accummulated in DC to fund more onerous laws–that requires the vote of others like Mr. Foley.
Count yourself lucky, Mr. Foley. You avoided the consequences of your actions, laws you supported then dodged.
[...] It’s too soon for WRMF to claim victory, though. So says Ross’ former boss and Hama’s predecessor, Chet Tart. [...]
