Stick a fork in one of sports highest-profile couples.
Just 15 months after their romantic wedding in The Bahamas, golf legend Greg Norman and former tennis champ Chris Evert have separated.
In a joint statement, the couple said: “We will remain friends and supportive of one another’s family.”
A source close the couple told Page2Live the two gave “a great deal of consideration” before separating.
“They haven’t said whether they’ll divorce,” added the source, who asked to remain anonymous.
The announcement came three days before Norman is to captain the international team at the Presidents Cup in San Francisco. Traditionally, players’ wives take a visible role in the tournament but the Great White Shark showed up this morning alone.

Norman and Evert, both hall-of-famers in their respective sports, never officially moved in together after the wedding. They alternated between Norman’s Jupiter Island home and Evert’s Boca residence.
The announcement comes as a shock. As far as the public is concerned, Evert and Norman seemed attached at the hip. They appeared together at tennis’ U.S. Open in New York in mid-September. She’s been by his side at major golf tournaments, and Norman even credited Evert for his stunning resurection at the British Open in 2008. In April, Evert caddied for her man at Augusta National.
What’s more, the torn lovebirds also started a business together. In September 2008, they announced a joint venture in the Dominican Republic in which Norman would design a golf course in a luxury vacation resort while Evert would start a tennis center there.
Both Norman, 54, and Evert, 53, divorced their previous spouses months before they were secretly engaged, in December 2007. First, it was Evert who filed in Broward County against her then-husband, former Olympic skier and fisherman Andy Mill. Word is she was tired of Mill’s happy-go-lucky ways and his lack of business ambitions.
Within weeks, it was Laura Andrassy, the Australian golfer’s wife of 25 years, who filed, in Martin County. She cited Evert’s friendship with her husband as part of the reason. After nearly two years of legal wrangling, Andrassy walked away with $103 million of the golfer’s cash.
Evert and Norman and Andrassy remained in the news on several continents as a public relations battle continued. Trying to clean up their image — Evert and Norman were accused to have hooked up while on a boating trip with their respective previous families — the couple went on 60 Minutes in Australia to deny they cheated on their previous spouses. Evert took advantage of the show to take a swipe at Andrassy, telling her to “get a job.”
But as the Normans went through a particularly acrimonious breakup, Andrassy told Page2Live: “If I had any advice to give them, I’d tell them to enjoy a long period between the two marriages.”
Why?
Because a new marriage soon after a divorce, Andrassy told me at the time, often ends in disaster.
