Laura Andrassy, the woman dumped by links Leviathan Greg Norman for new wife Chris Evert, took the high road Friday when she talked exclusively to Page2Live about her ex-husband’s sudden announcement that he and Evert have separated after just 15 months of wedded bliss.
“I feel sorry for the children,” Andrassy said by telephone from her new home in the Hamptons. Andrassy, whom Norman paid $103 million in the divorce, divides her time between Palm Beach and Long Island.
“The kids (Evert, 53, has three teenage boys with ex-husband Andy Mill, an Olympic skiing hero) are the ones who are going to deal with another breakup. They just went through the same thing with their mom and dad.”
Does she feel sorry for the 54-year-old Norman?
“Not really,” she said. “He made his bed. Both he and Chris are adults and they were supposed to know what they were doing. But they were in the throes of lust and weren’t thinking (when they got married).

“But being with Chris is what Greg wanted. Well, he got it.”
Andrassy attributed the shocking split, announced Friday, to the fact the Great White Shark and the tennis hall-of-famer jumped into another marriage too quickly.
Evert’s divorce was final at Christmas in 2006.
Within months, she and Norman were officially an item. They were married in The Bahamas in 2008, weeks after Norman and Andrassy were pronounced divorced after 25 years.
“You just can’t get in a relationship like that so quickly,” Andrassy said. “You go from a 25-year (marriage) to something new slowly. You need to get to know each other first, and they didn’t do that. This was puppy love.
“You know, like in high school. When you just can’t live for five minutes without the other person.”
Andrassy said she had no idea Norman and Evert were on the outs and was as surprised as the general public when a friend called her to tell her.
She wouldn’t speculate on the reason for the separation, but several issues emerged in recent months.
First, according to public records, Evert and Norman, whose worldwide corporation is based in Jupiter, never moved in together. Their respective drivers license still list their pre-marital addresses, Jupiter Island for Norman and Boca Raton for Evert.
Then, friends of the two have described them as both having huge egos that, at times, have clashed.
Evert rarely missed a chance to rib Norman in public. In 2007, she called the Great White Shark a “big chicken” before the media in South Africa.
So, does Andrassy — who called Evert a “predator” on TV last year — expect to see Norman crawl back to her?
“No way,” Andrassy said, “that wouldn’t happen in a million years.”
Norman, who had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder this week, is listed as a celebrity player at Evert’s yearly charity tournament next month in Delray, but it isn’t known whether he’ll show. Neither he nor Evert commented.

The demise of the Palm Beach Post grows sooner & sooner! It’s just worse & worse each day. I find it very “amusing” to see just how poorly the articles now ARE written and the obvious lack of any editorial supervision.

If Laura Andrassy wanted to take the high road, she’d never respond to questions from the media about her ex-husband’s personal business. They’re divorced!!! Let it go!!! And save the ” I feel sorry for the children” bit. Her concern may be genuine, but it’s also a very convenient way to mask her own anger and resentment. Laura A. needs to get on with her life! That’s the problem with us women, we spend way too much mental/emotional energy on men who haven’t earned it or don’t deserve it.
Don’t worry, Pool Boy. TRISTAN is just a bitter ex-Palm Beach Postie that got laid off and likes to complain about the people that were good enough to remain behind. It’s what she/he/it does.

It’s hard enough to raise 3 teenage boys that are in high school, let alone maintain the stamina for a high maintenance man, who has World Wide businesses,a huge ego and a complicated traveling schedule. Evert has her own life, ego, schedule and business and obviously after the fairy dust settled she had to realize her new life is way way too complicated. I hope her boys now get all of her attention. If she neglects them, she will regret it later. She invested so much time with Norman, you cannot regain time lost with your teenagers, especially in today’s culture. They may end up back together if they can sort their complicated lives out. But Norman lost out by leaving Laura. She is so much better off without him-she is too good for him.
The funniest line is when the ex stated she wouldnt take back Norman in a million years…of course not because she already got $103 mill.,if she didnt get that outrageous payday she might be singing a diff. tune

What business is it of ours, not only to read this gossipy stuff (just report, in one-inch of news space: “Evert and Norman filed for divorce” or “Evert and Norman announced a formal separation” or whatever the basic news angle here is.
Celebrity gossip, and definitely pictures of celebrity’s children, really have no business being included in such “news” stories.
Is the dwindling newspaper-reading public REALLY interested in stories and photos like this, or has some higher-up at the Post come up with the great idea that the only way newspapers can compete with say, TMZ, is to adopt their methods? Won’t work.
TV, tabloids, and gossip shows will always beat you with their own specialities, and plugging stories like these as “Breaking News” on your front pages is only going to turn off mature readers who want to read news stories that are relevant to their own lives, and celebrity public gossip surely is not.
What about sitting down in an idea-generating session, and covering the real news stories that people want to know about: the wars in the Middle East, the increasing unemployment rate, the health care mess, etc. Localize these important issues, make them relevant to readers with an i.q. over 100, and forget trying to pander to the young/dumb audience that only feeds on celebrity droppings.
That’s not the answer to the news business turnaround — to up the fluffy bunny stories in hopes of gaining more eyeballs. Like I said, the tabloids and gossip tv are just light years ahead of the heavily promoted columnists like Lambiet, and sadly, pushing such notions seems to encourage your “regular” staff and columnists to think that they have to start writing silly billy columns too about personal and private lives, in order to compete, so you shortchange the true newsgathering and reporting there too…
I’m not saying this for my own ego, but hoping you put the fluffy stuff in it’s place — as dessert, not the main course of your newspaper work.
