Three years after former star weatherman Rob Lopicola quit WPTV-Channel 5 to “pursue other opportunities,” things haven’t worked out so well for the muscle-bound forecaster

The 39-year-old Lopicola tried several business ventures, including motivational speaker and personal trainer, without much success.
And since his mysterious departure from the station — there was no cake, no two weeks notice — Lopicola lost his home to foreclosure and filed for personal bankruptcy, according to court records.
Now it gets worse: the guy last week was busted by his former colleagues at the NBC affiliate as one of the principals in a marketing company against which consumer complains are a dime a dozen.
Lopicola, who turned into an instant celeb locally thanks to his coverage of several major hurricanes, was even ambushed outside his Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard office by the station’s Shannon Cake and a cameraman. On camera, Lopicola tried to defend his employer, the West Palm Beach-based Premier Timeshare Solutions, then promised to return for a longer interview but never did.
Lopicola couldn’t be contacted, and the company’s phone wasn’t being picked up Tuesday.
According to Cake’s report, the company promises to connect folks trying to unload a timeshare with folks who want to buy a timeshare. For a fee, of course: $1,900. The number of unhappy customers, however, seems high as the Better Business Bureau has given Premier an F rating.

I quit watching WPTV 5 when they made this dumbas* their hurricane “expert”. I attended one of WPTV’s hurricane forums at which he spoke and answered questions. The guy was giving out incorrect advice while dressed in a frilly shirt unbuttoned half way down. I’m not making this up.
It’s fine if a station wants to boost ratings by making some airhead who looks good their weather reporter. But don’t present that person as an expert to give information on matters that can mean life or death.
WPTV was very irresponsible.

I met Rob and he was really nice. He signed autographs for my daughters, posed for a photo with them, and was very gracious. I am sorry he is having all of these difficulties and wish him well.

Let’s look at the big picture here folks. This company is a scam and their are many of these same timeshare scam companys in So. Florida that are getting away with it because of a loop hole in the law. It’s a disgrace that these people are able to prey on the innocent and make millions while the rest of us struggle. They may get arrested but never seem to go to trial and walk away free to continue stealing money from people desperate to get rid of a bad investment. They have no conscience and will do it to their own mother to steal a buck. If their was a real journalist out there they would blow this wide open and make these people pay for ripping off our neighbors, our family, our friends. This type of company operates out in the open and nothing happens to them. Lopicola is just one of many dirt bags and something must be done!

Rob should consider donating his corpse to a university with a medical school. He’d be a prized cadaver with those great muscles and veins! It’s really hard to do a proper dissection on geezers with no muscle left. From what I could imagine, the only defect he would currently have, which we could overlook would be a torn rectum. That station WPTV has history w/troubled weather guys,I recall back in 90s and my single days seeing then weatherman Art Horn strolling in Marriotts Safari club w/2 rent-a-chicks on each arm,I was there w/ a buddy of course drinking away and remember from across the bar we were calling out to him Art Horny and he had a good sense of humor and all that.Then as I recall he got into his car end of the night sped off and cops were waiting and he got busted for DUI and the station fired him afterwards never heard about him again.Hey Art if your out there hope everything is going o.k

Are you serious guys and gals? Who dares to throw stones? He’s gay, so what! He’s in NA, so what! He had financial problems, so what! Maybe he’s fat, skinny, bald, hairy, tall, short..whatever, so what! If he’s had a drug problem, shouldn’t we support him? Do you want to give him pain and add to his situation if he’s having difficult times now? Shame on you Shannon, and Jose..to use someones pain and loss - as entertainment. I’m shocked at the community negative rants and raves about this young man. Rob provided us support during trying weather times, donated countless hours working within the community, did his best even with imperfection. Does he have a right to be imperfect? Don’t we all!
My son died from a drug overdose. Before he died, he made poor choices and suffered consequences. I love my son. I made many mistakes in my life. I have no right to judge any other person. I did not judge my son. I’m grateful that I loved him unconditionally. My point for sharing this story publicly is to let you all know that we are imperfect and make mistakes. If Rob messed up, he hurt himself..none of you! If he’s doing his best, give him a chance to stand tall again and make what he did wrong, right.
Maybe he got a job in the wrong work place and is unaware of the operation, maybe he left news channel five or was fired (who cares why, he was generally very good at what he did), maybe he’s reading these posts and it hurts him. I remember him years ago from WRNN in Westchester County and he was fun to watch. He always seemed to really enjoy what he was doing. It’s sad to see this mess after those early days in broadcasting. If’s he is in NA, good for him. That means he’s at least trying to work out some of his problems.
I have a friend who was very close to Rob. Rob was into child porn and young boys. He got busted by channel 5 for using the computer at work to view inappropriate pics of young boys and chat. Anybody who justifies this by defending him is an idiot. “He’s such a nice guy”! Of course he is. Would you let this “nice guy” babysit your child? Didn’t think so.
