The war of words between Palm Beach radio star Rush Limbaugh and New York activist Al Sharpton escalated Saturday, with the Rev saying he’s going to sue Limbaugh for defamation.
Limbaugh: Apologize?
Unless Limbaugh apologizes.
“Not only did Rush Limbaugh try to criminalize the NFL,” Sharpton told Page2Live, “but now he is saying I’m a criminal. He can call me a race-baiter and all that stuff like he does. But don’t call me a criminal.”
This feud started after the recent announcement that Limbaugh was a part of a group of investors interested in buying the NFL’s St. Louis Rams. Limbaugh was dropped from the group after an ensuing firestorm in which some players, team owners and NFL honchos said they were against Limbaugh, whom some accused of making racially insensitive statements.
Sharpton, however, was along for the ride. The Harlem agitator took advantage of the news to demand that Limbaugh drop his membership to the all-white Everglades Club in Palm Beach.
Meanwhile Limbaugh went off on Sharpton both during his lunch time radio program and inThe Wall Street Journal.
In his first-person musings about the controversy, Limbaugh wrote about Sharpton’s “blind hatred” for conservatives.
Sharpton: I'm no criminal!
“He (Sharpton),” Limbaugh wrote, “also played a leading role in the 1991 Crown Heights riot (he called neighborhood Jews “diamond merchants”) and the 1995 Freddie’s Fashion Mart riots.”
The three-day Crown Heights riots occurred in a racially mixed community of Brooklyn after a black child accidentally was run over and killed by a Hasidic driver. The Freddie’s Mart riots took place near Sharpton’s Harlem office, culminating in the deaths of seven people and a lone attacker in a burning store.
“I’ve never led any riots,” Sharpton said. “As a matter of fact, I never got to Crown Heights until after the violence ended.”
Sharpton has asked Limbaugh for an apology, or he’s filing.
“I’ve sued the GOP before and Rush knows that,” Sharpton said. “(Former Republican National Committee Jim) Nicholson accused me of something similar, and I sued (for $30 million). We settled when he issued an apology.
“This is going to cost Rush. He’s making himself look worse.”

I’m a “Snowbird” 6 months in WPB and six in NY area.I hear them both and pay little attention to either one. I would say “a pox on both theie houses” as the expression goes. They are both on their pulpits for their own agendas. The preach to their own people who follow like sheep. The trouble starts when the sheep get restless and since sheep don’t think for themselves trouble starts and somebody ends up hurt in the mindless result. Then comes the guy on the white horse to “save the nation” from its peril. Trouble is that some of those guys were Nazis, Black Shirts etc, and other reactionaries. I think we all need to step back and start thinking more.
First of all, what does Al Sharpton have to do with Rush Limbaugh and his interest in the NFL? Nothing.

It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).
Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. I don’t care for either one, of these clowns. Sharpton has never had a legitimate job, and Limbaugh, is a fat unpatriotic, whining, junkie. Limbaugh is accustomed to running his mouth, but this is the first time, he has been held accountable, for his words. He’s blaming the wrong people, for his failure. The NFL owners, and the Commissioner, decided that they didn’t want his kind. He was trash, to them. He was toxic. Those are the ones responsible for his failure, along with himself, not Sharpton. I don’t see why his listeners, even care. Most of them, can’t afford a season ticket, and some can’t afford, a ticket.
I guess Limbaugh did not know, how many people really hated him. People are still celebrating his failure. Of course his failure, is the fault, of someone else. That’s gotta hurt, a rich fat boy, being blocked, by ordinary people. The NFL, did not want to deal with boycotts, and pickets. In this country, money counts, even the money, of ordinary people.
The NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.
All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, (which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism, one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money (Marshall Faulk) that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well they work as a team and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.
As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)
Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last couple of days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so what is being stifled, it simply is not true, of course, you may not have a radio, so you might want to get one.
