The alleged “other woman” in golf prodigy Tiger Woods’ bed is not just some cheap bimbo who mans the velvet rope at fashionable night clubs and dates famous, married men.
The clubs that Rachel Uchitel, 34, is also accustomed to include the Everglades Club and the Bath & Tennis Club, both Palm Beach high society hang-outs.
Uchitel is the granddaughter of powerful Cleveland banker and amateur golfer Warner Bishop, who moved to The Island with a much younger wife in the 1990s. He died in 2001 at 82. And her mom is socialite Susan Bishop.
“I can’t talk about this,” said Susan Bishop, who lives part-time in a $600,000-condo on Palm Beach’s Bradley Place. “But I can tell you I’ve never met Tiger Woods or heard anything about it until these stories came out.”
And either by blood or Uchitel’s own short-lived marriage, she has dozens of relatives in the upper spheres on The Island.
“Rachel comes to see her mom in Palm Beach fairly often,” said a local society maven who asked not to be named. “She may come off as sleazy now, but she’s from old money, even if there isn’t much of that old money left for her.
“The thing about Rachel is that she is exquisitely beautiful, and she knows it. She uses it to her advantage. She always has perfect hair. Always on high heels.
“She turned heads at the old Everglades Club and the B&T. The way she moves around a room is studied, like a model. The pictures don’t do her justice.”

The soon-to-be Jupiter Island resident Woods, 33, was injured while backing out of his driveway in Windermere, near Orlando. He hit a fire hydrant and then crashed head on into a tree. The golfer’s wife of five years, former nanny Elin Nordegren, 28, supposedly helped free him out of the car by smashing a window of Tiger’s Escalade with a golf club.
But the couple’s attitude since, including their turning back investigating state troopers three times and Woods’ statement yesterday that details of the accident are “private,” has fueled rumors that Woods was injured during a lover’s spat.
Over what? A front page story in the National Enquirer outing Uchitel as Woods’ alleged mistress.

According to records, Uchitel lives in a $4,000-a-month apartment in hip Chelsea, in Manhattan. She first burst into the public sphere in the aftermath of 9-11. She became one of the tragedy’s human faces when a picture of Uchitel clutching a pamphlet with the photo of her boyfriend, who died in the World Trade Center collapse, ran in newspapers throughout the world.
Three years later, Uchitel married stock trader Steve Ehrenkranz, a 9-11 survivor and private school mate of hers. By the summer of 2005, according to New York records, the two were divorced. Incidentally, Ehrenkranz’ folks, Sanford and Elizabeth, also live in Palm Beach, in a $4 million-home on Sunset Avenue.
Uchitel, who had worked as an editor at Bloomberg Television, then got into the nightclub business. She was a VIP room hostess in Las Vegas, Manhattan and The Hamptons, giving her late-night access to the rich and famous.
But Uchitel surfaced in the news again in mid-October. Published reports linked her to married actor David Boreanaz, star of the Fox network hit Bones. Boreanaz allegedly was having an affair with Uchitel at the time his actress wife, Jaime Bergman, was pregnant.
The Enquirer’s Woods story claims that Uchitel, who described the tab’s story as inaccurate in a call with Page2Live, met Woods in a nightclub in June.
Uchitel has allegedly told friends that she and the world No. 1 golfer are “in love.”

Tiger has always been in the public eye. It’s been difficult for him to move around without being noticed, and he’s very careful to not be seen out and about except in controlled situations. When he was single, he met girls/women through introductions and via golf associations, not at the bar scenes or parties like most young men his age. He met wholesome beauty Elin through a golfing buddy who employed her as a nanny.
Some are speculating that since Tiger’s Dad passed away, he’s lost his moral compass and felt the urge to walk on the wild side like his sporting buddies, Shaq and Michael, etc.. A hot slutty “hostess” seems to fit the bill. Trouble is, if you’re as high profile as Tiger, people notice, and stories start making the rounds. Also, some of his golf associates notice things too, and golf insiders are notorious gossips.

Men, by nature, seek diversity in sexual partners. It’s a state of nature thing - the more a man “spreads it around” the more likely his familial line is to survive. Only an intelligent man of the strongest moral character will have the strength to suppress his natural desires and subordinate them to what his mind tells him is in his long-term best interest (as opposed to his short-term pleasure…the two are not always the same). This unfortunate story is in no way the fault of Tiger’s wife. She is clearly the victim of her husband’s lapse of moral judgment.

Obviously the affair did happen as neither of them has denied it; they’ve only said they have no comment and the story is offensive. Tiger is a very young man, worths billions of dollars and is tied down by marriage and children. His choice? Yes, but he is human and probably married too young. What he did was wrong, but it is private and I hope this public attention died down so he can fix what’s broken. The first sports figure to have an affair? No, but certainly scandalous.

We are hearing that Rachel Uchitel cancelled her birthday party because of all the unwelcomed media attention. Why did she agree to a magazine cover and article if she didn’t want media attention? She knew she was being photographed on the beach in those skimpy bikinis. Why did she piggy back on a male friends back in New York, knowing her picture was being taken.
