img_0340CNN star Larry King is back in South Florida this weekend for a charity gala, and Sunday’s Miami Dolphins game.

Through the 1960s and the early ’70s, the 76-year-old King made a name for himself on Miami radio, as a d.j., commentator and an announcer on Dolphins broadcasts.

The King’s first stop, Friday, was at Mar-a-Lago for the de facto kickoff of Palm Beach’s gala season, Lois Pope’s Lady in Red Gala. The 16th annual fund-raiser brought more than 500 people to Donald Trump’s club, with proceeds going to building a memorial in Washington, D.C., honoring disabled war veterans.

“I emceed the ground breaking of the Vietnam memorial in D.C.,” King told Page2Live. “There should be one for disabled veterans, too. That’s why I came.”

Earlier this fall, Pope found a way to guarantee that the gala would be a sell out in a tough economy. She offered to Palm Beachers the opportunity to celebrate their own occasion at her fiesta. So, Manalapan widow Terry Ebert celebrated her wedding to Joe Mendozza while Jersey couple Elissa and Dominic Papparone celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

The main thing Larry was known for in Miami is welshing on debts and basically being a scumbag. To this day he has not repaid those debts despite being a multi millionaire. Ditto that,LOAN ME FIFTY DOLLARS!

Lois Pope is not PB Society- While she may look glamourous and sweet, the woman is downright mean and hateful. The former b-actress/dancer was just fortunate to marry Generoso Pope. He was trying to divorce her and then he died before papers were finalized. That’s how she ended up with his millions.

The entire group looks fake and shallow I doubt they give a thought about the monument she is trying to build on the mall in Washington.

Actually I think The Trump’s added some style to this event.

And is me or does Larry King look like Homer Simpson’s boss Mr. Burns?

Wow, this just confirms that Palm Beach is full of BS…botox and silicone…

Money was raised for disabled veterans, wounded while protecting YOUR freedoms, and for underpriviledged children in Palm Beach County. We were doing good for others - what were YOU doing that night????

Nice call on the Dolphins game “hot and sweaty” comment # 2. Your genius at calling football games is only overshadowed by your moronic childlike namecalling. We all know why you are “hotandsweaty”, try a gym.

This is so epic!!!! This is the largest collection of ugly/fake people… They just don’t know when to quit… Marty Allen are you kidding me last time I saw him he was the middle, left square on Hollywood Squares hoisted by Dick Clark… was he the entertainment for the night? Did Trump move to the Poconos or Catskills?

also Larry can you please pay me the $50 you borrowed from many years ago.

MY HUSBAND,RICHARD, A DISABLED VETERAN, AND I ATTENDED THIS GALA AND I JUST WANT TO SAY “THANKS FOR A MAGNIFICENT EVENING WE WILL NEVER FORGET.” IT WAS FIRST CLASS ALL THE WAY. LARRY KING WAS VERY WARM AND FRIENDLY AND POSED FOR MANY, MANY PICTURES. MR TRUMP OPENED HIS LOVELY MANSION TO US, AND WE APPRECIATE THAT SO MUCH. OF COURSE, LOIS POPE IS OUR HERO FOR BEGINNING THIS 14 YEARS AGO, AND DONATING $5 MILLION DOLLARS TOWARDS THE MEMORIAL FOR OUR DISABLED VETERANS. SHE IS GREAT.
THANKS TO ALL WHO MADE IT POSSIBLE. A SPECIAL THANKS TO MR SIMON FIREMAN WHO I UNDERSTAND DONATED THE MONEY FOR ALL THE VETERANS AND THEIR SPOUSES TO ATTEND.
MAGNIFICENT, WONDERFUL, TRULY FANTASTIC. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU. MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND HAPPY HANUKKAH TO ALL. JOYCE TOLFA

I grew up in Palm Beach. For me, the place is a not comfortable at all. I can tell you taht on the surface people are pretty polite. Having lived in the wealthiest places and also in poor places, I can tell you that ultimately people are gennerally the same internally, but the money allows people to go crazy with desires and material wants, which often leads to utter selfishness and excessive suffering towards others as a result of extreme wasteful self-aggrandizement. Perhaps the ugliest thing about Palm Beach is all the people that come there looking for money - from attractive but often “overdone” women to guys trying to know me just because they think I have money. No, the Trumps are not traditional Palm Beach society, but what does that mean? It just seems that most people of extreme wealth are not truly compassionate no matter how many balls they go to. Usually they spend 10 times more (literally) on their evening gown than the ticket to the charitble ball. Still, I can tell you first hand, that I have seen money create ugly people out of formerly humble poor people too. There are many kind, low-key people in Palm Beach. But many of these people seem to have some kind of inner complex about money which makes them live there. There are worse complexes though. The whole world is superficial, so just find the place where you fit in best. Palm Beach is a specific type of place. If you are very conservative, worship money, seek money, want a very safe place to live with a nice beach and great food, can handle waspy stuffiness or flagrant oppulence, you’ll feel wonderful there. Everyone deserves their own place.

I have met many kind wealthy people who naturally feel comfortable with a high police presence and people they can relate with. Everyone deserves their own place. i do wish however, these folks would do more to provide appealing places for others in the world to live in (as that is where the money comes from). Often people who critisize out of jealousy would just end up in a similar state if they were given the opportunity. Unfortunately for me, however, I grew up in Palm Beach and do not feel comfortable there at all. It’s nice to find a place you enjoy. Good luck.

It is amazing how jealousy and envy breeds such distaste in people. You have no idea what you are talking about and the good that Lois Pope does for this animal community. Her passion is to stop the suffering of children and animals and does more in one day to help this cause than any of you do in your entire lifetime. What have you people done for the abused, homeless animals and children lately? What time have you given of yourself? When you can speak with intelligence and knowledge, then make a comment but when you speak with jealousy and envy because you don’t have . . . then please refrain. I myself am proud to have Mrs. Pope on the side of the animals and thank god for her.
