Tennis stars, celebs, beautiful people descend on Key Biscayne for Sony Ericsson Open

The Sony Ericsson Open is in full swing on Key Biscayne, and the tennis tournament is about celebs as much as the world-class tennis. For each Rafael Nadal on the purple court, there’s a Spice Girl in the stands. And for each Serena Williams splashing in the surf between matches, there’s a high-heeled Kim Kardashian doing the coin toss. See it all in the Page2Live gallery by clicking on the photo or here:

Chelsea Handler brings Bang Bang to SoFla

Comedienne Chelsea Handler blew through South Florida over the weekend, for her Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang tour’s only stopover in the area. Handler, 35, who’s also known for her popular late night show on E!, Chelsea Lately, performed her one-woman, minimalistic show Friday at the Fillmore in Miami Beach. Ski hero Lindsey Vonn schusses to water park

Winter Olympic hero Lindsey Vonn is headed to this area.

The most successful American female skier ever is slated to sign autographs and hang with fans April 10 at Rapids Water Park in Riviera Beach.

The Alpine specialist, and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model to boot, won one gold medal in downhill at the recent Vancouver Olympics and three consecutive World Cup championships.

But her skiing prowess isn’t the only reason why the folks at the water park are flying her in.

The water park is making a habit of inviting big time female athletes who also look good in swimsuits to usher in the season. Car racer Danica Patrick and model Kathy Ireland were there in the recent past.

“We picked Lindsey for her success,” said park spokeswoman Tina Hatcher. “She’s a great role model. Plus, she also appeared in a Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue (holding skis in front of her bare breasts).”

Fox News superstar Bill O’Reilly, the non-nonsense host of the top-rated The O’Reilly Factor, preached to the converted Friday night at Palm Beach’s Mar-a-Lago.

In his “State of the Union” talk, the conservative host blasted liberal rival MSNBC, calling it “little” because “eight people watch it.”

Comparing the White House to the Chicago mob, O’Reilly said he hopes for low approval ratings for Pres. Barack Obama because, when that happens, The Factor’s ratings go up.

And he predicted that Republican Mitt Romney would take on Obama in the 2012 presidential elections, with Sarah Palin’s third party candidate siphoning votes from Obama.

But O’Reilly, 60, didn’t really come to talk politics. He came to help shine the limelight on a newbie on Palm Beach’s charity landscape: the It Happened to Alexa Foundation. And it worked. About 400 people paid up to $600 for a photo with O’Reilly, his speech and a steak dinner.

Lois Frankel speeding scandal: The cop who let the mayor go says he should’ve ticketed her!

Frankel cozzying up to the Prince of Darkness recently

Frankel cozzying up to the Prince of Darkness recently

West Palm Beach Police Officer Josh Martin, who clocked Mayor Lois Frankel 26 mph above the speed limit in a school zone this week but didn’t ticket her, says he doesn’t deserve the criticism heaped on him by Page2Live’s readers.

He didn’t write her up, he said, because he had to rush to a crash with injuries a mile away.

A motorcycle cop for nearly eight year, Martin is uncomfortable with the scrutiny. He says he’s been hearing it from all sides: fellow cops, who are mad at City Hall for cutting deep into the police budget; and motorists, who now say they want the same break or even that Martin be fired.

“Enforcing the law doesn’t mean that you’re writing everybody a ticket,” Martin said Friday. “If the mayor ever gets caught again, trust me, she’ll be begging for a ticket!”

Indeed! More than 140 readers commented on Page2Live’s exclusive story Wednesday and more than 1,300 voted on the poll. Dozens called city hall and the police department to complain.

All that at a time when the term-limited Frankel is kicking dirt about staying in power longer!

For more a decade, this mansion on South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach was the weekend home of “Lord” Conrad Black, the owner of the Chicago Sun-Times, Jerusalem Post and a slew of large papers in Canada. Since 2008 and until Oct. 2013, however, he’ll be living at the Coleman Federal Correctional Institution near Orlando for dipping into his corporate assets for things like, well, this “British colonial” mansion. The 5-bedroom waterfront crib went up for sale this week, after Black, 65, transferred ownership to a Connecticut corporation in January when he defaulted on the mortgage. No price is listed, but the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser assessed the house at $32.6 million.

Palm Beacher Ann Coulter speaks, Canadian protesters protest

Ann Coulter, the Palm Beach-based GOP pundit, finally got to speak to Canadians. Two days after Coulter’s appearance at the University of Ottawa was canceled amid fears for her safety, Calgary opened the backdoor to the Conservative populist. Coulter’s 70-minute speech at the University of Calgary went well — she talked about Zambonis and making Canada’s West the 51st state — but a handful of protesters banged on windows and doors after jeering those who paid $10 to see Coulter. The skinny blonde made news in the Great White North all week after her quip to a Muslim student in her first appearance, Monday in London, Ont., about riding a camel as alternative form of transportation to a flying carpet!

Reggie who? It’s all business for Kim Kardashian amid rumors of split

If reality TV starlet Kim Kardashian (E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians) is broken up about her reported second break up with New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush, she sure didn’t show it Wednesday at the Bentley Hotel in Miami Beach. That’s where Kardashian celebrated the first anniversary of her online shoe store, shoedazzle.com, with local drag queens, Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis, bubbly and paparazzi. Lois Frankel’s traffic stop: There are no records!

FrankelDon’t expect to see footage of West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel’s traffic stop on the tube. There is none.

The officer did not carry recording equipment, and didn’t radio the dispatcher that he stopped Herhoner.

Because of a special provision in the Florida Statutes, the news media (and private citizens) are allowed access to most documents, tapes, videos and other means to keep records in government entities — including tapes from dashboard cameras and audio equipment in police vehicles.

The problem: West Palm Beach Police Officer Josh Martin, who stopped Frankel after he clocked her at 46 mph in a 20 mph-zone near Dreyfoos School of the Arts but didn’t ticket her, is a motorcycle cop. And unlike his colleagues in patrol cars, he has no on-board video system and can’t tape the voices of motorists he stops.

Scott told me Wednesday that Frankel apologized to the officer and instructed him to treat her like any other citizen after he pulled her over. Martin sent her on her way, without writing her a $411-ticket for speeding through a school zone.
