One oxy deputy resigns; partner returns to work

Trent Thompson, one of three Palm Beach Sheriff’s deputies investigated in connection with illegal oxycodone purchases, resigned from the agency in the wake of a drug test in which he tested positive for opiates, Page2Live has learned from agency sources.
Eighteen-year veteran Thompson, a former SWAT team member and son of former PBSO Col. Tommy Thompson, put in his letter of resignation hours after taking the test. I’m told there will be no further investigation concerning Trent, 38.
However his wife, Deputy Sarah Thompson, 33, remains in the eye of the storm. She’s still on administrative leave after her arrest last week for allegedly buying the powerful and highly addictive painkiller from one of her street informants.
A third deputy, Shawn Monti, 41, was also placed on leave and ordered to undergo a drug test. He tested clean and returned to work.
All three deputies were on the same patrol shift in the North County District.
There’s no comment from the brass.
As a SWAT member in 2003, Trent Thompson killed a MAC-10 wielding suspect in a standoff.
Since resigning for a dirty UA ,”No furthur investigation” ??? How about bringing him up on charges? Thats exactly what would happen if it were you or I. What hypocrites. Law enforcement here is such a joke, hypocrites……ALL OF THEM !!!!!!!!!!
PBSO - Do as we say, not as we do. Laws? They don’t apply to us! We are Police Officers. We get to drive our cars home, and speed anytime we like. Off duty? Sure im allowed to speed. Change lanes illegaly? Im a Police! I’m sworn to serve and protect ( other police officers and members of the good-ole-boys club, not you)!
And to think, these are some of the people we depend on to protect us. hmph.

If you can afford to party with Mr. Black…it seems you can get away with anything in South Florida….and if you cannot…they lock you up.
Just take a look at the daily Mug Shots on the Home Page….they basically spend all day booking vagrants at night and bailing them out in the morning.

For those of you who think you know the law let me explain why there is no further investigation in this incident. The resignation was based on a positive drug test which was ordered by PBSO. Tell me when was the last time anyone here was ordered to take a drug test and prosecuted after testing positive for drugs? No one! What is he going to be charged with, having opiates in his system? I don’t think so especially when many medications contain small amounts of opiates. Regarding the roach clip in the car, the charge is called possession of drug paraphernalia which is a crime in this state.
Good points DI. But the Laws of Man no longer make sense in many situations and this is what frustrates and outrages the average citizen that these officers work to serve (supposedly) and whose money pays for them to stay on the job while accused of bad things.
This guy is the son of a former PBSO Col., his Wife is charged with buying Opiates from Street Informants and apparently keeping them for personal use…….SHE is still getting paid by PBSO!
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that their is an Opiate problem in the family or where he was probably getting his stuff….did they check to see if he had a prescription?
It would seem he would not have or why else would he have resigned?
Where he and his wife reselling these on the street?
No. Is any of this investigated? No.
Is investigation warranted considering the circumstances? Of course!
But….he was a Police Officer, his wife is Currently a Police Officer and his Father was a former PBSO Colonel………..
All this looks like a bunch of corrupt inbred cops, at least one involved in buying drugs from informants for personal use and/or possible resale ….getting a free pass on the CITIZEN’s Dime….AGAIN.
Throw in the fact that even though Palm Beach County Civil Servants have now acted so corruptly that we are called CORRUPTION COUNTY because of them……and you would think they would start being squeaky clean instead of constantly giving the appearance of continuing to cover up.
The last a read….The Sheriff B-Shaw was saying that he would not agree to cooperate with the Oversight fo the new Ethics Commission either…or something like that.

Hey Why Not, what country do you live in? “Innocent until PROVEN guilty” is the law in this land. He quit, so there is nothing more PBSO will do to him employment wise, but there can still be criminal charges brought against him by the State. She has NOT BEEN FOUND GUILTY of any crime yet. If she is, she will be fired. Until then, the law prevents PBSO from doing any thing against her. If they do, they get sued by the same group of liberals who sue for every single BS thing. You would expect and demand the same treatment if you were accused of doing some thing wrong. Just because you are arrested for a crime, does not mean you will be found guilty of the same crime in a court of law.
Is anyone really surprised? Seriously, I have alot of Cop buddies that Juice, take pills, do this or that. It was the same way in the Military. Yes we fight for this country but Most of the Military is also Drug Addicts or Alcoholics.
I believe this whole “war on drugs” is nothing more than B.S. and has turned the average citizen into a criminal.

“….Thompson did not ask questions about the purchases, or make any attempts to obtain information about who the drugs were coming from, the report said.
In January, the FBI investigators began an investigation, recording conversations and meetings as Thompson and the informant met on four separate occasions.
In a recent transaction, Thompson met with the informant at a Jupiter gas station after the informant had acquired 10 roxycodone pills from agents. Thompson arrived in her marked sheriff’s vehicle and collected the pills into a brown evidence bag, the report said.
She asked no questions about the purchase of the pills, and did not search anyone. ”

This county is corrupt. Still.
These situations do not appear isolated. They keep coming like a steady drumbeat and you can be that less than 1% of the dirty cops and their superiors are getting caught.
The Pill doctor should also be in trouble!They get people hooked on purpose!!!!This is how they live their posh lifestyle!!THEY RUIN FAMILIES!!!!
Oh really who in the hell reading this is surprised, because if you are ride out to belle glade, they scheme and deal all the time and they take drugs and drug money and dont even write up a slip for them you know why cause they use it and sell it forward and split the money amongst themselves. Its interesting how many “citizens” are defending these “officers” and their actions. This is totally unacceptable behavior for anyone in law enforcement and to condone it only exacerbates the situation. An outside entity needs to be brought in to clean house. Its obvious left to their own devices nothing would change, they’d only get better at covering their tracks. We should be stopping all of these “Pain Management” clinics from supplying all of these drugs like they are candy. We are killing our own kids and choose to do noting about it. We should start at the top with all these pharmaceutical companies that are making millions killing our family members and continue all the way down to the people who so freely are prescribing these killer drugs. Our leaders tell us that regulating these drugs would harm the people that have a legitimate reason to take them. BS, the people that have a legitimate reason will not be affected at all. It may actually even help them by reducing the cost. We all need to pull our heads out of our ass and start asking the right questions. In Palm Beach County you get more time driving on a suspended license than for being in possession of Cocaine or Prescription Drugs without a prescription. Why? That’s easy. Because PBC makes money on traffic fines, court cost, etc. Open your eyes and stop hating.

To “My2cents”: Here! Here! The FBI and the Sheriff’s Office are following proper procedure in investigating these allegations. If they were “covering it up”, this information wouldn’t be in the paper. Remember, “Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones!” Let’s put the average citizen’s life under the microscope and see how many laws they have violated in their lifetime! There is only one person who was perfect and He will judge them!

Sheila-Gary Gianotti has never been charged with a crime after assaulting his wife, driving his cruiser into a ditch and keeping the PBSO SWAT team at his home for hours. His wife, however was able to obtain a restraining order against him. This is public record, look it up.
I knew it…..PBSO won’t charge its own…they committ crimes, keep their jobs and get paid doing it!

I guess since his daddy is friends with Mr. Personality Col. Gauger he gets to resign, and go apply for a job somewhere else. B. S. plain and simple! Maybe he was on pills years ago when he shot that guy, he should have been FIRED!!! Oh wait Bradshaw will come out with one of his award winning statements “people are people” what a joke, then that should apply for civilians too. Gauger is the one who makes all the rules anyway, Bradshaw doesn’t do much without his consent. This department is a circus and two clowns are in charge. This will be a safer and less corrput county when they are both civilians!!!! Bottom line, if your not a (FOG) your screwed. His day will hopefully come soon!!
