Shocking development in the aftermath of the car crash that killed 23-year-old Scott Wilson and injured International Polo Club Palm Beach founder John Goodman: As many as 10 Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responders have been notified that they are under internal investigation.

Their superiors want to know whether the crew from Wellington’s Station 27 followed procedures because Wilson’s body was not found until an hour after the Feb. 12 crash.

Page2Live has been told exclusively that two firefighters searched Wilson’s submerged car, which was upside down in a canal. But the rescuer could not find Wilson in the early morning darkness and gave up the search. In time, fire rescue left the scene when they thought their work was done.

But the jaws of sheriff’s deputies left behind dropped when Wilson’s Hyundai Sonata was hoisted back on the road, revealing his body on the seat.

Said a fire rescue source: “Our guys obviously didn’t look for a body hard enough.”

Fire Rescue spokesman Capt. Don Delucia confirmed that existence of the investigation but declined comment. When asked about emergency procedures for cars in canals, Delucia said: “There are masks and snorkels on the emergency vehicles but the conditions in our canals are bad. It’s so opaque you can’t see your hand in front of you even in broad daylight. Diving on a vehicle is extremely dangerous and difficult.”

Delucia said responders also have the option to call in professional divers, but that wasn’t done, according to my source.

An autopsy showed that Wilson drowned after Goodman’s Bentley went through a stop sign and hit his car, sending it into the water off Lake Worth Road in Wellington’s horse country. Goodman left the scene and walked to a nearby home to call 911. Authorities are still trying to figure out whether alcohol or drugs were involved. Goodman suffered a broken wrist, hired star attorney Roy Black and has been hiding in Miami Beach hotels since the crash. Goodman, 46, has not been charged with a crime.

Meanwhile, the No. 2 man at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Col. Mike Gauger, is also conducting an informal review of PBSO deputies’ response. He didn’t agree to an interview.

William Wilson, Scott’s dad, declined comment.

“I haven’t been told anything by the sheriff’s office or anyone, so I can’t really comment,” he said.

The Medical Examiner’s report will tell us weather, or not, this young man was killed by the impact, or drowned. Either way, John Goodman is still responsible for the death.

  2. Comment by Gordon Solie — March 8, 2010 @ 2:36 pm

Is this the reason for the failure to arrest Goodman on a charge of vehicular homicide? With every day that goes by without an arrest, the public loses more faith in those who have sworn to protect them.

  3. Comment by Mike — March 8, 2010 @ 2:39 pm

It makes no difference about all the slime being generated to try to place blame all over the place. The fact is, Goodman is a murderer.

r u kiddn me????? wth? why is this guy not behind bars yet?? Why turn this on Fire-Rescue?? The blame should be placed on goodman alone.

  5. Comment by Bubbles — March 8, 2010 @ 2:45 pm

The real shocking developement is that there are still no charges against Goodman, the driver of the Bentley, whose car obviously pulverized this young mans vehicle. Look at the cars…Even if rescue was on scene as the accident occurred, and had found the body in murky waters, chances are the young man still would have drowned, certainly not able to get himself out of that mangled mess.Bottom line is had he not been hit he would be alive!!! Any of us middle class citizens would have certainly had charges brought already. Oh the pwer of the almighty $$$

  6. Comment by Relax — March 8, 2010 @ 2:53 pm

For everyone wondering why no charges have been filed, alow me to explain. From the moment he is arrested, his right to due process is envoked. He can waive speedy trial and request to go to court almost immediately. If the accident reconstruction/investigation is not finished or the toxicology etc… The State loses all of its evidence and he walks with no re-trial. It is not uncommon at all for the State to wait until test results are done before filing formal charges. His time is coming.

He drove at high speed through a stop sign. The kid is dead. Those are the slaient facts, your honor. Every other concocted theory by the defense is bull****.

Delay. Blow smoke. Delay some more until the public loses interest. This is the tactic of choice whenever the client can afford to pay a high priced attorney to make it happen, not just in ultra corrupt PB County.

    Very tragic indeed.

The Fire-Rescue repsonders are on the line and that’s not going to sit well with the public…

Once this get’s more coverage in the news I think we will have an outcry of support from a lot of good folks who are smart enough to see that while everyones looking to the left real quick!…..John Goodman is ducking out to the right quietly……

    fuctupfred,

I was merely offering an explination to those posing the questions about his continued freedom. Besides, it is not a concocted theory by the defense, but proper case management by the State’s prosecutors. I do wish they (Prosecutors) would announce that, so that the general public will understand.

Police and fire should be investigated to confirm following procedures, etc. But fact of the matter is, Goodman killed this boy, didn’t bother to help him, left the scene, etc. Sadly this boy died long before police or fire arrived on the scene.

  20. Comment by Mr Big — March 8, 2010 @ 4:17 pm

Here are some points to ponder:

    1. He walked to a nearby house to call 911….he didn’t own a cell phone at the time to make the call?

    2. Can Goodman now claim that he had a drink(s) at the “nearby house” to calm his nerves? Could this neutralize any claim he was intoxicated while driving (the Rick Sanchez defense)? Yes, he was seen at a couple nightspots and bought drinks before, but did anyone count how much he consumed or can legitimately claim he was drunk?

    3. What is the defense going to claim if in the autopsy of the young man it is found that his blood alcohol level was elevated?

It is going to be very interesting how the defense counters any charges.

  21. Comment by Susan — March 8, 2010 @ 4:37 pm

I don’t think the fire-rescue shouldbe “investigated’- the fact is the canals in this area- especially during winter months, are absolutely muddy water. I am sure, if they could find him in the car, they would have rescued him or recovered him right then and there and wouldn’t have just let the car be pulled from the canal knowing the body was still in the vehicle. PB Post is helping no one but the defense table when reporting this kind of stuff- why aren’t you asking the right people the really hard question: blood alcohol level? its been about a month already- they should know this info by now.

  22. Comment by blame johnny — March 8, 2010 @ 4:38 pm

He walked away after the accident & didnt bother to call 911????…STOP TRYING TO PLACE THE BLAME ON FIRE-RESCUE!!! He was drunk, ran a stop sign, hit & killed the victim, left the scene of a deadly accident!! This should be front page stuff, he is just lookn for people to blame, when the one to blame is himself!!

  23. Comment by Nance — March 8, 2010 @ 4:43 pm

We should give support to the fire fighters on this. Canals are dirty, mucky. The bottom can be stirred up, the car top looked flatten. The body was not recovered by the firefighters and sadly the young man probably had drowned by the time firefighters had arrived.

The family and friends of this young man do not need to read over and over the intrigues of this horrid accident

    BUT…..

firefighters need to stop robbing the taxpayers with their 8 days of work per month,
    their twice a month massages,
sending 3 FF grocery shopping during the hours they work,
spending $97K on ‘art’work for the Pike Road Mega shrine they built for themselves with taxpayer money and
now they want a SPECIAL TAXING DISTRICT SO OUR TAXES WILL BE GIVEN DIRECTLY TO FUND THEM! NO way!

They are modern day robbers who sought a better healthcare deal than the rest of us were to get with the crappy Obamacare.

That’s firefighters for you. All for themselves. They’ll protect themselves, you can bet on that.

All this is , is a tragic accident. Nobody murdered anyone. Is this the first time this type of thing has happened? NO! Was it premeditated? NO! Was this kid on Goodmans hit list? NO! If an illegal alien did this and their was no money or insurance it would be still a tragic accident, but it would be over. When a family member dies we all want blood, but a car accident is much different than a murder. Goodmans car insurance should just pay out and let this be over. Money will never replace a human being. and Goodman should enter a rehab.

  28. Comment by FOR SALE — March 8, 2010 @ 5:11 pm

Why was he not arrested. Why no DUI results yet.

Every other regular person in PB COUNTY would be arrested and in jail or bonded out on some kind of charge while this is figured out.

He is allegedly cooling his heals at the Canyon Ranch in South Beach? Is this possible.

I was told his big - money legal counsel gets big shots off in ways that would make some question the methods.

But of course, our legal system is not corrupt.

How about leaving the scene of an accident this severe?

It seems he obviously did that….why no charge?

This is a tragedy for all involved that cannot be done.

But the appearance of yet another corruption of Law and Order in PB County just reinforces public perception that our attys, judges and law enforcement officers are ALL for sale.

This young man lost his life needlessly. This sounds like the defense attorney is on this one. This Goodman person is responsible for this mans death and he’s trying to put the finger on someone else. Nice try Roy Black. Goodman, own up to it and pay your dues. Why don’t you quit trying to save your butt and take responsibility for your irresponsible actions that caused this horrible event.

The ME has said from what the Post has stated, that the
young man drowned. The EMT’s couldn’t find him until the car was pulled up by a wrecker. Yes, money will never replace a loved one, but when you are at fault, you should be held accountable for your actions, when you drink and drive and somebody is killed, suck it up
and pay the price. When Tom, Dick, or Harry get pulled
over for a DUI, they are in jail until they sober up
and have to do everything the court system tells them to do. And this is differnt WHY. Cause he has money!
Please, his past speaks for itself. Another RICH A@@hole getting away with things most of us WOULDN’T. WTF. If it was u r me, we would be done, just like the kid that rear ended the van on Forest Hill Blvd and killed the baby, his ass was in jail in no time. Hope

Hey morons, how many times do you have to be told that once you are arrested, the State only has a very short period of time to then take you to trial and find you guilty. Instead of arresting him, they are conducting the investigation, and once ALL OF THE results are in, then he will be picked up on a warrant IF THAT IS WHAT THE CASE CALLS FOR! Stop running your uneducated, ill-informed mouths, you sound like idiots crying and whinning.

Fire the cops & replace the Fire Rescue group or send them all to training along with our 911 operators obviously they all missed the chapter on what to do & steps to follow when a car is submerged. Its been alleged that his car clearly went through a stop sign at apparently a very high rate of speed, enough to destroy the other non-bentley car and flip it upside down into a canal.

Its also alleged he was buying lots of drinks at some Bartender Competion just minutes before.

He allegedly left the scene of the accident.

HAS HE EVEN BEEN CHARGED WITH RUNNING A STOP SIGN YET?

Its true this is a horrible tragedy for all that cannot be changed.

But regular citizens are arrested EVERY NIGHT in pbc under similar circumstances….oh…except they don’t have billions and did not hire Mr. Black.

    It becomes more suspicious daily.

We all know in Palm Beach County that our Judges/Lawyers/Cops/Firemen are lazy and corrupt parasites sucking the life out of us.

    This confirms that image.

  39. Comment by Jayson — March 8, 2010 @ 6:36 pm

Why hasn’t John Goodman been arrested for DUI manslaughter when he ran the stop sign and was seen drinking heavily? Is it because he is rich and that is okay? I certainly do not think that it is okay. John Goodman needs to pay the price just like everyone else who commits the same crime. I will be happy when the autorities figure out the same thing and haul him out of his fancy miami beach hotel and into jail.

  40. Comment by Equestrian Club Resident — March 8, 2010 @ 6:44 pm

Sorry for this long post but I know a lot about the area, as I live in the Equestrian Club a couple of hundred yards down the street from where this happened. I wanted to share what I know to help put this in some meaningful context.

A long sand road runs the length of the canal in question, and the canal itself is the most muck, debris-filled mess I’ve ever seen. Much worse than most. It has really, really steep banks and it is not easy to access. I have no idea how deep it is, but I would guess there must be literally a couple of feet of silt at the bottom of that thing, stuff you would sink into if you landed in it. Low temperatures that week were in the 40’s and had been for some time. I am not sure how long even the hardiest souls could have searched in that cold, dark water, especially with the threat of a car rolling over on top of you, which was the situation that night. When they pulled the car up it was tangled in a mess of weeds and fronds and things. Tangled like that and resting in silt, I don’t know how they could have found him.

But that being said — they had to have known the poor guy was somewhere …. he didn’t just disappear. Maybe they thought he’d been thrown clean out of the car. How hard did they look around the surrounding area to find him? It is a very open area, and they would have been able to determine fairly quickly he was not thrown clear and that he was in that car, somewhere. Maybe they thought he’d been submerged so long there was no hope. But isn’t it there job to make sure that was the case, and that he had not been able to survive the impact by some miracle? No matter how you look at it, what an awful scenario.

Re: Goodman calling from a phone in a home (a home I can only assume belongs to one of my neighbors as there are no other houses nearby aside from those in the Equestrian Club) : Goodman probably could not find his cell phone after the violent crash. No doubt it went flying and he was probably disoriented. So it is not a surprise he called from a nearby home. And he may have had to walk a fair distance because there is a large planted berm and hedges which make the area at the intersection appear to be something you can’t get through. Even when you walk down to an opening in the planted berm, you encounter a black wood fence and usually another pool fence, with most areas heavily planted by the homeowners to block the noise from Lake Worth Road and the filth that constantly wafts from the sand road across the street by the canal. So Goodman may have had to walk past a dozen houses before he came to one he could access. I don’t think that counts as leaving the scene, if this is where that accusation is coming from. And not all the houses in the E. Club are occupied all the time. He may have had to knock on more than one door, especially at that hour. That is, assuming, he did in fact call from one of the houses here at the E. Club which I do not know for sure. It would sure be a long walk to the next set of houses down 120th Ave. if that is what he did.

And to those who simply refuse to get it, YES the clock starts ticking on Goodman’s right to a speedy trial the minute he is arrested (if chooses to invoke this right, which is totally his call). The state is not going to have him arrested until their case is totally prepared, so just be patient. They are taking their time so as not to blow it. You’d be screaming your bloody heads off if they bunged this case up. So be patient.

    We don’t think so.

So if he was going to the house a 1/4 mile away…why did not he call 911 IMMEDIATELY? Did he?

Arrest the guy for running a stop sign, leaving the scene, DUI…..and sort out the details later.

But that is no reason to torment the innocent readers and posters on this blog with your ignorant, pompous commentary.

I have read all of the comments above. I have followed this tragedy –for the Wilson family– since it happened. I was a high school classmate of Scott’s father William, and I register these observations here independently with a heavy heart, as a fine young man Scott Wilson died needlessly.

To those who dismiss this as “an accident”– I repectfully challenge this. John Goodman, according to our system of justice, is innocent until proven guilty. Assuming our judicial system works in Palm Beach County in this case, the facts of this tragedy will be aired in the Courts.

But, for now, the preponderance of the facts and the evidence STRONGLY and CLEARLY point to the reality that (a) Goodman’s possible and probable incapacity due to alcohol and/or drugs at the time of this tragedy directly and criminally caused the death of Scott Wilson, (b)his running a stop sign at an additionally illegal high rate of speed in his tank-like Bentley versus the sub-compact Hyndai of Scott Wilson, (c) Goodman’s leaving the scene for an extended period– as oppossed to his coming to Scott Wilson’s assistance, and NOW, (d) the apparent imcompetent and recklace response of the the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sherrif’s Department on the scene. Excuse me, if a car was in the water, the PBC Fire and Rescue and the PBC Sherrif’s personnel should have been in the water trying to rescue any person(s)– in this case Scott Wilson.

In addition to John Goodman, it now appears possible, maybe even probable that the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue Department and the Palm Beach County Sherrif’s Department have “blood on their hands” by this needless death of this fine young man, Scott Wilson.

We, the citizens of Palm Beach County need a complete investigation of, and legal consequences and justice where required regarding not only John Goodman, but also the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue Department and the Palm Beach County Sherrif’s Department.

To the Wilson family, continuing prayers and thoughts for your loss and the consolation of a loving God.

    Really?

A lawyer being compared to Roy Black is a compliment?

3 months ago most Ft. Lauderdale Attys, including lots of Judges and the FL BAR thought that being compared to and associated with PONZI SCHEME FELON Scott Rothstein was a compliment.

Apparently the Governor, (another Lawyer) did too.

Rothstein was even the V. Chairman of the FL BAR ETHICS Committe. That’s appropriate.

This is what is wrong with the legal profession today and why it is not what it used to be.

Its a club of crooks anymore….covering for each other for insane fees and immoral (if legal) schemes….and usually screwing their clients, the public, common sense and decency in the process.

Look at the Everglades Boondoggle in the NY TIMES TODAY….again an alleged multi-million dollar rip off of the public crafted by stinkin’ bad lawyers.

Attys have lost their way. Legal and right do not equate anymore.

What if the allegations/suspicions are true in this case agains Mr. G?

What if R. Black is able to use his considerable influence, for better or worse, to allow an allegedly guilty man walk free for a multi-million dollar fee.

What if some of that money was allegedly used to corrupt Judges and Law Enforcement?

    What if?

Would you still be so proud to be compared to Mr. Black?

Not possible you say? Think again Sweetie. You ain’t in Kansas ( or law school anymore) you are in the cesspool called the practice of law now.

The above is all hypothetical. But 99.9% of anyone I would talk to thinks that is pretty much what is happening here….a high paid charlatan, insider fixer springing some rich dude…..in a manner that would never happen to a normal, everyday citizen.

    The old OJ COURTROOM SHUFFLE.

    Spring the Rich Guy.

And the Attys would have no shame….as a matter of fact they would probably give the atty that springs the guilty guy a Fl BAR AWARD.

This is a terrible event for all involved that night…simply tragic….and its hurt a lot of good people no doubt…..but REAL JUSTICE should now be done…not alleged legal twisting and distorting of reality, bribery of judges, corruption or worse.

Our whole system has got to change. A legal/law enforcement system that allows this kind of thing to happen can only survive for long in a Dictatorship or Fascist type society.

    Not a democracy.

It’s a shame that the attention is now drawn to fire-rescue. Did they make a mistake? Absolutely sounds like it, but they are not the ones that killed this young man. John Goodman did. I’m not looking forward to how his lawyers will turn this all around.

  50. Comment by Puke — March 8, 2010 @ 9:44 pm

We can safely assume that even if his atty mr roy black or some other atty knows in their heart of hearts what happened and where true guilt lies and punishment should be applied…..

…for a handsome legal fee, you can assume that they allegedly will apply all of their self-decribed “fine education” to aborting justice rather than fullfilling the demands of justice.

This is why people are nauseated by lawyers , the legal system and this case anymore.

Bad legal minds and legal training, lawyers, judges and politicians are ruing this country when they could be doing something better with their intellect.

  51. Comment by Ron — March 8, 2010 @ 9:46 pm

Why is the blood test for alcohol and drugs taking so long? When regular Joes and Janes get DUI’s the bloodwork results are practically instant. This stinks like a cover-up at the highest levels.

  52. Comment by Glenn M. — March 8, 2010 @ 9:59 pm

Here we go again. Lets blame other people for Goodmans actions. Money does buy you freedom. Enough of this crap. Goodman belongs in jail along with the rest of the scum bags in Palm Beach County. Blaming the firefighters is BS. The citizens of this County should back their firefighters. When people have an emergency, who do they call, Fire Rescue. Maybe next time, call your County Commissioner or anybody else you think is qualified and see what happens. They will call the PROFESSIONALS of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. The firefighters deserve everything they get. The training the firefighters have to attend daily is very hectic. Get off their backs and get on Goodman, PBSO for not arresting this Rich Bastard and hiring a scum bag attorney. The rest of us would be in jail.

  53. Comment by Goble goop — March 8, 2010 @ 10:10 pm

Someone should investigate how Roy Black seems to be able to get people with lots of money off on charges that anyone else would be convicted of.

It allegedly smells like bribery. Maybe. Maybe not.

But this is Palm Beach County.

    I mean corruption county.

Ponzi Schemer Scott Rothstein was consider a “Super Lawyer” had 4 former judges on his payroll and also S. Abrams, PB County Commissioner, plus LOTS of pics of Charlie Crist on his wall, former Broward Sheriff and convicted felon and lawyer Jenne working for him too….oh yeah and he was on the committee to appoint Judges here and he was allegedly Vice Chairman of the FL BAR ETHICS Committee.

And until 3 or 4 months ago. Fellow lawyers would line up for the privilege of kissing his ass.

But now he is exposed as the Biggest Financial Crook in FL history.

But, oh yeah, Roy Black is a just a real good lawyer. No corruption with ROY!!! No siree!

  54. Comment by GS — March 8, 2010 @ 10:27 pm

    To Glenn M and others,

Yes, I agree, John Goodman must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law!

But that does not excuse the possible and apparent imcompetence and neglect of the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sherriff’s Departments, who if they had done their well-paid jobs admirably, had gone into the water to rescue any possible victims– in this case– Scott Wilson.

    GS

  55. Comment by no way — March 8, 2010 @ 10:35 pm

    Hey GS.

Duh. Why the hell did not Mr. Goodman get his clothes wet an jump in the water?

Its pretty definite he was first on the scene and in the best position to do so.

This is tragic for Mr. Wilson’s family and Goodman’s family. Just tragic. tragic. tragic

But the way this is being handled.

    No action by PBSO.

And clearly now the obfuscation of the facts by attys is already starting.

This will only make matters worse and worse…

The man didnt intend too kill anybody that night but he did and he should be behind bars I know I would be if it were me. Who cares if he has any money his legacy will be that he was drunk driver and that he killed another human being that night was just trying to get throught school. Dont try and place the blame on why the police didnt do their job he was probably dead on impact or drowned in 60 seconds. I think he should fry for this crime just like they do in his native Texas. Im from Oklahoma and I think he needs to man up and take responsibility. What a freaking coward. Im sorry for the family.

    Scott Wilson drowned…………fact.

If you look at the tapes on TV you will see Scott’s mother watching as the car was being pulled from the canal. That means that the famly had already been informed of the death.

Proving, once again, that this information is not true. Good try to the PR team and Mr. Black…..
Let them switch the blame to the working class, again, so Mr. Goodman can stay in his $1,000 a night hotel in Miami.

Are we forgetting about the “Good Samaritan Law” in Florida? Goodman was AOL when the police arrived. Reason enough to put Mr. Goodman in jail…………..

  64. Comment by look it up — March 9, 2010 @ 6:33 am

Relax, morons and E.Q. Club Resident apparently understand such concepts as “speedy trial” and “double jeopardy.” Most of the rest of you would benefit from some education on the US Constitution and criminal procedure. At some point, ANY underwater rescue operation with missing person(s) moves into a recovery phase, and things slow down. Police and Fire Rescue personnel have to consider things like: Was the other driver ejected, and then did he flee the scene (he may have had warrants or some other reason) and did an alligator stash the body somewhere? For all of you mentioning O.J., remember, his acquittal is generally credited to a botched police investigation. It is never smart for police to “start the clock” prematurely with criminal death case. If Goodman were arrested right now, he would likely press for a speedy trial. All postmortem toxicology results take multiple months. Vehicle components need to be tested. Phone records need to be pulled and examined. Interviews need to be conducted. The defense would likely claim that Goodman was not intoxicated at the time of the crash, his foot slipped from brake to throttle (or some mechanical failure), he lost his phone and left the scene to seek professional medical assistance for the other driver. Without a solid case based on EVIDENCE, the State could never overcome the reasonable doubt created by the defense.

Then after the car is removed from canal, fire rescue has to go back and CUT him out of the car while it’s on dry land, and somehow the firefighters are being investigated. Must be nice to have money so you can deflect the blame elsewhere!!!

Taxpayers spend HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS each year for a Fire and Rescue that turns out to be lazy and incompetent when you need them.

Let’s hope they are the first to be cut back upon in the upcoming budget cuts. They are only necessary in the case of a fire. The are a huge unnecessary expense. The PBSO can handle everything else.

  70. Comment by Lynette — March 9, 2010 @ 8:49 am

Shame on those of you who are putting blame on PBC Fire Rescue & the Sheriff’s Office. I have the privilege of working closely with both of these agencies and know they respond to saving lives every day and put their lives on the line in doing so. No one is to blame but John Goodman for Scott Wilson’s death. If in fact Goodman was drinking that night, he and he alone made that decision to get in his car and drive and run that stop sign. My prayers go out to the Wilson family.

    B.S. a thousand times over.

Speedy trial, due process, blah blah blah…just go right now to the pbpost dot com home page and look at the PBSO Booking Blotter….almost 90% of the bookings are DUI or Prescription Drug or Petty Crime related and they are BOOKED into JAIL RIGHT AWAY?

Why does not all this Roy Black Style, Billionaire Bad-Justice apply to them/us?

Don’t listen to anything a criminial defense atty says…the good ones allegedly “take care” of the Judges after-hours…..they are payed to lie and happily will get a murder off the hook if they can……that is as long as you can pay a couple of years at $600 an hour.

Its called dealing with the devils.

Think that our Judges are sane individuals? Take a look at the Sun Sentinel today and see how Broward Chief Judge allegedly responded about Anonymous Anti-Semetic Blog Posts when questioned about the Judicial Qualifications Committee charging a judge for communicating, ex parte, HUNDREDS of times or over a thousand times with the Prosecutor in a DEATH PENALTY CASE! And she was a Female LATINA judge….not even hebrew! This Judge certainly seems to be allegedly unfit to serve the people.

Lawyers will ponitificate, righteously on these boards because people speak honestly….but anyone can smell their deceit. Easily.

Will Relax explain this please, thanks.

  73. Comment by @ #40 — March 9, 2010 @ 9:45 am

    @ #40

Goodman was found 1/4 mile SOUTH of the intersection on the 120th Ave dirt road.

Why didn’t he walk LESS than a 1/4 mile NORTH to the Polo Club he owns?

Had he been looking for help, the most obvious homes are those in the Equestrian Club. Even if he couldn’t get to them due to fences (etc), he would have been found by police on either Lake Worth Road (west) or 120th (north).

    Doesn’t add up.

  74. Comment by Jimmy — March 9, 2010 @ 9:55 am

Yep, everybody hates the dirty lying lawyers. Except when they need one that is. Every day I am bombarded with lawyer commercials on the TV for Personal Injury cases, you know the Goldenboy touch and alike. They will get you $10,000 even if the accident is “your” fault, wow what a bargain. I hope that none of you on this site have used one of those lawyers. If you are going to complain about lawyers, at least be able to say the “I’ve never needed one” or else you are just another hypochrite. Goodman will get what is due to him “after” all of the evidence has been gathered, if not then he will go free on a technicality.

  75. Comment by Mr Big — March 9, 2010 @ 10:42 am

If Goodman walked to the Equestrian Club to use a phone. let’s consider the following:

    1. The Wilson car was in the canal submerged before Goodman leaves the scene.
    2. It probably took in excess of 5 minutes for Goodman to walk to the gate of the Equestrian Club (EQ) from the scene. How much time did Goodman spend prior to taking his “walk” to the EQ to seek help?
    3. Goodman then would have to gain access to the EQ at the guardhouse/gate.
    4. Goodman then had to find a house from which to make a call which he could have done from the guardhouse.
    5. The records of the call to 911 will provide the time, phone number, and address from which the call was made.
    6. Fire rescue would then be dispatched to the scene.
    7. The time elapsed from the time the Wilson car entered the canal and Fire Rescue arrived on the accident scene was most certainly was in excess of 10-15 minutes.
    8. Drowning typically occurs in about 5 minutes. Chances of Wilson being alive in the car when Fire Rescue arrived was “very, very slim” at best.
    9. An at the scene sobriety (BAL) test would have provided an indication as to Goodman’s condition. Anything over the legal limit should have resulted in his arrest for DUI. The other charges could be subsequently filed pending investigation.

  76. Comment by Mr Big — March 9, 2010 @ 10:48 am

My previous post was made under the assumption that Goodman walked or could have walked to the Equestrian Club. Any other location to where he could have walked would only add to the timeline of events.

  77. Comment by John Goodman — March 9, 2010 @ 11:48 am

I did not go to the Equestrian Club to make a call, if you dumb asses would read the facts, you would know I walked down a dirt road to a trailer and made the call. I guess free speach let’s every stupid ass on the planet speak. God……………I hate the lower class of Palm Beach County.

  82. Comment by drewsco — March 9, 2010 @ 12:53 pm

I think many of you are relying on too many asumptions and ignoring the possibilty that there are two aspects of this incident that are at play-the criminal and civil issues.

The issue with fire rescue only helps Goodman with any civil action. If he incurs a civil action for negligence, he may assert the possibility that; fire rescue may have partly contributed to this man’s death by not successfully rescuing and resucitating him, and the sheriff’s may be partly negligable by their delayed response.

In terms of the criminal aspects, only a few of you seem to be analyzing this issue rationally and logically. For example, someone stated on this thread that Goodman is very friendly with the sheriff-this is totally irrelevant. Someone else stated that the PBSO online blotter contains numerous people who were arrested for DUI or DUI related crimes, somehow implying that Goodman is receiving preferential treatment. Again this is totally irrelevant and quite misguided because they either overlook or ignore the possibility that evidence may have been present during those arrests (e.g. a confession, a roadside sobriety test on video, alcohol breath analyzer tests results).

If we are going to opine on this issue, let do it on the merits, not on any irrelevant, prejudicial side issues.

  83. Comment by The Man — March 9, 2010 @ 1:57 pm

Why is this guy getting special treatment?

Look at the PBSO booking blotter…they book poor people like it was going out of style for petty stuff all day and all night long.

  85. Comment by E.Q. Club Resident — March 9, 2010 @ 6:32 pm

Thank you for the info about Goodman being found on 120th , poster # 73. As Is stated in my post, I did not know where he was located that night. My post was merely an attempt to examine why it might have taken Goodman a while to get to a phone if he tried to enter the E. Club, but as he apparently did not take this course of action, my comments on that subject are now a moot point.

Why the man chose to walk down 120th is a mystery to me, but I have heard he knew people who lived there and perhaps he was trying to reach one of their homes. I would think it would have been faster to access a home in the EQ Club, but having never been in a serious accident like this I have no idea how one’s mind might be working.

But regardless of this information, I must say it still does not necessarily sound like Goodman was attempting to flee. With his mangled Bentley left behind at the scene, it does not appear he could have anticipated making an escape by taking this route. Obviously he would be identified as its owner. And with physical injuries he would never be able to convince anyone he had not been driving at the time of the accident. Criticizing him because he does not appear to have attempted a heroic rescue of this poor young man seems a bit unreasonable, I must say. How many people here can honestly say they would have dove into that dark cold water, quite probably disoriented after the accident and with a broken wrist? Don’t lie, now. Come on. Be serious. And while there may be a good samaritan law, but one is not required to place himself in grave danger - even if whatever harm that has befallen someone is 100% your fault.

With re: to taking breathalyzer tests - a driver has the right to refuse. The police cannot force you to perform one. I believe your driving privileges will be automatically suspended for refusing, but in this country we are not compelled to provided evidence against ourselves. But if the hospital draws you blood, the results can be obtained by the police and used against you. That is much better evidence anyway. I believe Goodman’s blood was taken at the hospital and the results should be forthcoming soon enough. Be patient.

The USPA should suspend Goodman from polo. Run this bum out Polo (black ball). We do not want a killer in polo. Hopefully, the Judge will throw him in jail and clean up Wellington and polo.

Roy Black will not lose this case. Goodman will pay the family off and will never spend one day in jail. The “Stop” sign will be missing, the BAC test will be missing, no witnesses, he wasn’t driving, etc, etc, etc. Money buys anything and everything. That’s just the way it is.

  91. Comment by E.Q. Club Resident — March 11, 2010 @ 10:03 pm

    Dear Bad Person,

Obviously you have very poor reading comprehension skills. You didn’t understand a word I said. Calm down and stop freaking out and calling people names and wishing ill on others and read this … I will type nice and S-L-O-W-L-Y so you can keep up.

My point was that the people posting here claiming they would have made some heroic rescue attempt that night are full of it. One in a million people would actually do what so many here are claiming they would have done. It is easy to sit back behind your computer saying you would have done this, or you would have done that … but the truth is no one knows until confronted with the actual situation.

Pointing this fact out is not making excuses for Goodman. Understand?

Really, if you don’t like the comments and discussion going on in this blog and you can’t control your emotions any better than this, I suggest you find something else to do with your time. Something constructive. Stop spreading hate and venom. But don’t do it for my sake, do it for your own. It must be awful to be such a bitter, angry, hostile person. You live in a very ugly world and I feel sorry for you.

  92. Comment by a Little Flower — March 17, 2010 @ 2:13 pm

    Dear E.Q. Club Resident,

You are misleading yourself. Those people saying that they would have jumped in the canal to save Scott, would have jumped in to try to save Scott.

Your opinion is that one in a million people would have done so! How would you feel if you, or one of yours, was drowning in that canal, and commenter #86 saved your life?

The driver of the black Bentley illegally ran the stop sign while driving at a high rate of speed, crashed into Scott’s Hyundai, then left Scott to drown.

According to the Ten Commandments authored by God, one of those commandments states “Thou shall not kill” and another states “Thou shall not bear false witness”.

Mr. Goodman, if you are reading this, it’s time to admit the truth and accept responsibility for your actions, otherwise your alternative would be to spend eternity in Hell.

  93. Comment by Pope Benedict XVI — March 29, 2010 @ 5:44 pm

Oh brother. “Little Flower” I think you have been smelling too much fertilizer! Get real! These people claiming they would rescue that boy are LIARS and most of them probably would have fled the scene. Give me a break! You really live in a dream world.

And you have real nerve to quote the Good Book. I don’t suppose that during one of your little Bible study meetings they covered what Jesus had to say about HYPOCRITES, did they? I doubt it, otherwise you probably wouldn’t be here casting stones and judging others and warning them about the fires of hell.

And talk about bearing false witness - You don’t know what happened that night. How do you know Goodman didn’t pass out at the wheel like is being said now and he did not even realize he hit that kid? The other car went into the canal and maybe Goodman didn’t even know it had happened. Maybe he thought someone hit him and took off or something. You don’t know! But you are claiming he left Scott there to drown, knowingly. What proof do you have of that?

I am not in any way making excuses for someone getting so bombed he passes out whatsoever if that is the case here. But you need to stop assuming things that have not been proven AT ALL about Goodman knowingly leaving Scott to drown and preaching at everyone like you are a superior being. I simply have no patience with someone showing up quoting convenient portions of the Bible and ignoring their own stink like you are doing. You are the one bearing false witness by pretending to know things you don’t! Judging someone as guilty when you don’t know ANY FACTS and casting stones at people for having a different opinion.

Somewhere, Baby Jesus is CRYING!!!!!! I hope you’re happy!
