John Goodman crash victim’s family “pleased” with probe, but Goodman was “reckless”

The family of fresh college graduate Scott Wilson, who was killed Feb. 12 when his car was broadsided in rural Wellington by International Polo Club Palm Beach boss John Goodman, is “very pleased” with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation into the accident.
This, despite the facts that no finding has been released a month after the incident, or that Goodman hasn’t been charged, according to one of the Wilsons’ attorneys.
Goodman survived with minor injuries, and authorities are considering criminal charges. Goodman, 46, was at two parties before the accident, and was accused by his ex-wife last year of being a cocaine abuser.
“Scott’s parents understand that this is a high-profile situation and that everyone involved is trying to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s,” said West Palm Beach attorney Scott Smith, who represents Wilson’s dad, William. “The family doesn’t want anyone to make a mistake on this.”
When asked about a recent Page2Live scoop about the fact that Palm Beach County Fire Rescue firefighters and paramedics failed to find Wilson, who drowned strapped in his seat in the upside down car submerged in a canal, Smith said the family wants to allow the agency to investigate its response to the crash.

“They (the Wilsons) are simply 100 percent convinced that the only reason that Scott’s car ended up upside down and underwater in a cold, dark canal is the reckless and outrageous actions of John Goodman,” Smith said. “He drove at a high rate of speed and blew through a stop sign.”
Smith said rescuers could have done little for Wilson. His car was so banged up that water rushed inside as soon as it hit the canal.
“The damages to Scott’s car were horrific,” Smith said, “probably the worst I’ve seen in a two-car collision.”
Go get’ em, Wilson family.
Justice for Scott. Life is more valuable than money, any day of the week.

If you stay on top, there is less and less chance that Goodman can blame someone other than himself for this loss of life. And for heaven’s sake, don’t let the man become a flight risk like Roman Polanski, just because he can.

The reason nobody reads the post is because you can’t take them serious. The allow a seriuos story to be posted on the TMZ section of their paper. Jose’s a joke, look at all the crazy crap that go’s on at his page, I think I read last week on here where John Goodman him self was commenting and every want to be cop and laywer has been commenting. The trial will never take place in Palm Beach County with all the BS coverage that has gone on at places like this, the first thing that will happen after he get’s arrested, and he will get arrested, is that black will move the trial because of house sh*t pages like this.
How is this news, exactly?
Haven’t we seen this story before, on this very same blog, about two or three days ago? Jose, an update that “the family is pleased with the investigation” does not, per se, constitute news and is lazy journalism at best. Either wait until more information emerges and then post a newsworthy article, or just leave it.
With all due respect, Page2Live should really not be defined as journalism and me discussing it as such is really just validating the fact that Jose is being taken seriously, when really, a college student could just as easily edit this blog. It is merely a gossip blog with very little intellectual or linguistic stimulation.
To cut it short — this is not news. But then again, is anything on this blog?
And FYI, I only clicked on this because the Post’s main page actually took me here. Not that I - or any of my colleagues at work - will ever visit this blog again.

But the real story here now is how corrupted will the process and the legal system become when you through a guy with a lot of money to be taken….into the pot.

None of this coverage has been overly influential in negative ways to potential jurors, and surely in PBC you can find plenty who don’t follow any media and have never heard of this crash.
And I’m pretty sure it was the “TMZ” page here that got us the info about his wife’s earlier allegations of cocaine us; the number of tehquila and other drinks the man ordered up that night; and where exactly he was partying prior to killing Scott with his recklessness behind the wheel of an auto.
Let’s not have a separate form of justice for the rich. Do right by Scott Wilson, PBC, who seems to have been a stand-up young man who somewhere along the line was taught the importance of taking responsibility for your actions. That’s why his loss hits so especially hard, in a time when we really NEED men with simple integrity and ethics like that…
Too bad Mr. Goodman apparently never was taught this, or learned his lessons poorly.

This is a NEW story than what was reported yesterday when the family independently obtained an attorney. This story tells us the family’s thinking behind that decision.
Did you think that the responding officers and EMT’s failure to extract his body is enough for Black to point fingers and place blame elsewhere? Did you see the pictures of that submerged vehicle? I’m glad to hear — in this story — that the family isn’t letting any internal precedural investigations misdirect where the blame lies.
Scott Wilson would have been alive today — not if the rescuers had been able to get to him sooner; he was most likely gone before they even were called to the scene — had Mr. Goodman not acted so recklessly in his behavior. That’s what I’m sure will be proven in court, and that’s what I’m sure PBP readers will want to continue to learn more of, as this story slowly unfolds.
The wheels of justice grind slowly, but I’m certain there will be Justice for Scott. And it will be a welcome day in Palm Beach County, and wherever people are following this tragic story.

Where is the Justice?
What I find amazing is that there is some guy out there in south Florida who is very rich and well known in his community and friends, who drove his car into the back of a car that was driven by a young man forcing the car into a canal, killing that young man. It has been almost one month and nothing has been done, except that the police keep saying “there is an ongoing investigation”. This almost sounds like the same fiasco that took place with Ted Kennedy some years ago, who was never charged. The parents of this young man should be outraged at this kind of justice, if that’s what you call it. It appears that if a person is well known among the rich and famous and is financially well to do they get to find favor with the justice system. I am almost willing to wager that this man will never be charged and if he is he will plea bargain with the prosecution and walk.
JOSE! Why did you remove the link to the sun-sentinel videos of this story? Let the Goodman fans on here learn the truth and what the authorities are saying. And let them see Scotts mother in tears!

If it can be determined he drown beacuse rescuers did not jump in the canal and pull him out, the family will sue the fire department and our taxes will be used to pay the settlement. John was seen dancing out of his mind drunk a couple of weeks before at the Players club. John goes out of control every polo season, rehab and excuses follows. John has not learned to grow up, He puts on a great front. Make no mistake Goodman is a major addict. He desserted his wife and children for drugs and gold diggers. He doesnt care about anyone but himself. He will say and do anything to get off his murdering of Scott Wilson. He ran from this tragic accident to not get busted. Blood level is diluted every hour he avoided the cops. Not only should he serve prison time, but prison will be the biggest favor the prosecuter can do for him, sober up. Consequences for behavior is what he hasbeen told for years in rehab, this time he will fully understand when sentencing comes. The Wilsons deserve half of Goodmans wealth.
The leaving the scene of an accident charges will be out the window if he was passed out at the time of the crash. That would have added maybe 15 years to any sentence he may receive for DUI/manslaughter if convicted.
His being unconscious at the time would explain a lot. If he was passed out at the time of the accident he may not have even realized he’d hit another car, plus the other car had been pushed into the canal and was not there to see when he woke up. So he may not have realized there was anyone else hurt and in need of help, and perhaps that is why he seems to have taken his time walking down the road to a phone and didn’t try to rescue the guy himself.

Erm, no it doesn’t. It is but another sensationalist Jose Lambiet piece, written in poor English. Then again, PBP isn’t exactly the bastion of culture and education.
This is a derivative article that milks a story that should be left to unfold at its own pace. The public did not learn anything new about the case — Lambiet knows the mere mention of this story will generate hits, hence Page2Live will not drop it.
If you want this story to be taken seriously, then MOVE IT FROM PAGE2LIVE to the regular PBP News section, give it to an actual journalist to write and then maybe we could take it seriously.

You all owe John Goodman your gratitude because he’s given you purpose to your otherwise empty lives. He’s given you an opportunity to ignorantly attack the PBSO, the State’s Attorney, his character (which you know nothing about), rich people, polo, Wellington, the criminal justice system, defense attorneys, etc, etc, etc.

Met the guy a couple years ago, and I can’t say I was impressed. It was obvious he had a major alcohol problem being intoxicated at 3 in the afternoon. #23 is right, prison will give him the chance to sober up. And don’t worry, there is a formula that is used to determine blood alcohol levels going back in time. Even if there was only a trace in his system when he had his blood taken at the hospital, they can figure out what it was 2 or 3 hours earlier. The fact that he didn’t even hit the breaks is an indicater that he must have been at a high level at the time of accident. I trust the authorities, and am glad this young man’s family got their own attorneys on the case too. From what we know Roy Black will be working on lowering the sentence, not avoiding prison.
As suggested by Benjamin, you can all stop your mindless accusations against the PBSO, SA, etc.. There will be be many factors involved in this case. At a BAL of .08 you are presumed to be impaired. There are, however, other factors on which defendants can be convicted or acquited with BAL’s below or above that level. Goodman’s actions appear to be egregious and he will pay and most likely be punished. But I agree with Larissa’s assessment of you serial bloggers. Get a life.

Just heard (from someone who knows someone who knows him) that Goodman got on a jet today to return to Texas. He’s fighting with the ex because he wants to have more access to the kids before the charges come down. The ex is not co-operating. The kids want nothing to do with him either. And hes an emotional wreck because of the situation and back on the bottle. So this guy is not living it up like many of your are insinuating. He spends his days researching similar DUI cases and on the phone with Black’s secretaries who are acting like his therapist. The guy is really a mess now.

The Sun-Sentibel in Broward has all the news videos on their site, interviews with the mother and lawyers, and more factual articles. Come on PB Post.
