Rush Limbaugh to Costa Rica? Fund-raiser to buy his plane ticket is underway

Two self-described Brooklyn dudes have started a website to collect money to help Palm Beach radio talker Rush Limbaugh move to Costa Rica now that health care reform is underway.
And, a buck at a time, the duo claims to have raised $1,158 in the first 18 hours since the bill was voted on, and claims 62,500 visitors to the site.
Limbaugh earlier this month said on his midday radio show that he’d move to the Central American nation if Pres. Barack Obama’s health care bill passed. He later clarified his statement on Page2Live, saying he’d seek medical treatment in Costa Rica because U.S. health care companies are forming alliances with Costa Rican hospitals.
Well, the bill passed late Sunday, insuring millions and forcing insurance company to act in a humane way.
So money is pouring into www.aticketforrush.com. There’s already enough for a first-class ticket, never mind that Limbaugh has a private jet! The website will shut down and stop taking donations April 30 and those who run it hope to have enough for a down payment on an apartment in San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital city, as well as movers and Spanish lessons.
What if Rush refuses to accept the gift and stay home? Well, he won’t like what Mike and Patrick plan to do. They’ll give the proceeds to Planned Parenthood in his name.
I reached out to El Rushbo for comment but haven’t heard from him yet.

In High School, I had a teacher who swore he’d move to Ireland if Dan Quayle ever took over the Presidency for any reason. Did we take up a collection? Uh…No. Guess we had lives.

So how did these “millions” suddenly get their insurance? From what company? This bill didn’t insure anyone, but it DOES force them to now have to go out and buy insurance at some point in the future. There are no more folks insured today than there were yesterday.
Is it “humane” to force a business to operate in a manner which will lead to it’s demise and the unemployment of 10’s of thousands? Are there examples of successful businesses that aren’t a burden on society that DO operate under your so-called “humane” guidelines?
Are you indicting all capitalism as a method for allocating goods and services in a society? Or are you just indicting those aspects that YOU don’t like? Can I enforce my own opinions on private enterprises that I don’t like too? Certainly you’re not obligated to purchase goods and services from companies you don’t like … you still believe in individual free choice, don’t you?

Funny…received a call today from the Palm Beach Post to ask if I wanted to subscribe to their newspaper. I explained to him that I had a subscription for 20 years and cancelled it, because of stories like these. Maybe the Palm Beach Post will see the light…when more people cancel their subscritions.

I’m confused. Isn’t Costa Rica a Social Democracy in the style of socialist European democracies. It’s consistent left leaning (but not Marxist) governments since the 1940s is what has made Costa Rica a bastion of peace and prosperity in Central America and what makes it so attractive to Americans. Many are leaving the island because of the new attention brought by such people as Rush, Rudy, Trump and their ilk. It will only continue downward. There is actually talk of constructing a NASCAR track around the island to attract the rest of their type of people.

Y is every1 all upset over this? OUR government cannot force goods on us. & Medical insurance is still by law a good. Under our laws we have not yet said that healthcare is a right. So I don’t know Y OB thinks this changes much. Until WE as a nation make the choice to make healthcare a right. This bill 4-1 allows more avenues of taxing 4 a half constructed public healthcare system. Yes it does offer more coverage to people that need it. But some of the avenues they R forecasting for increased taxing R fantasy. This bill will burst into flames in 36-48 months. But it’s designed to! Its just step 1 to make us all realize that health care will someday need to be declared a right. And that a full government operated health care option is inevitable. Until ANY1 can show us how we can avoid this. This bill will pass & start this nation down that path.
& Y would Rush care? He has more money than he will ever need. If we all want to get upset about something, We all should B pissed “OUR” Goverment is not letting WE THE PEOPLE vote on these bills. If every1 read every line that is in this bill, I feel 75% of the votes would throw it out the window @ the poles. If they open these bills up to the people to vote on them, all the games would stop in Washington I feel. IF we force “OUR” government to rely on our votes to pass laws, then I think we all will believe in the principles that our flag flies for again! To Edward, yes you are correct, the political structure of Costa Rica is socialist and is simalar to the one that is practiced in Sweden, Denmark and Finland, all of which have the best health care in the world. There is no way he’ll go….. Costa Rica does not permit the dispensing of opiate or narcotic medication. He can’t get his fix with 800 mg of ibuprofen or Codeine.
Keep in mind, Costa Rica doesn’t have a military. They don’t have banks and car companies to bail out. They don’t have $12 trillion of national debt and $100 trillion of unfunded liabilities, and $1.5 trillion annual deficits.
It’s easy to have a socialist medical care system when that’s pretty much the only major thing you have to pay for. I don’t support this health care reform bill, but if it meants seeing the national debt disappear, 700 military bases in 130 countries closed down, and Social Security dissolved, then I could see doing it. Otherwise, we simply don’t have the money, period.

Wow Charles, you are practically illiterate. I am so sorry that I will have to pay for your health insurance. Even more so after seeing what the Public school system has already done for you. I remember when growing up meant working hard to better yourself and family. Now, I guess we promote being bigger, fatter, dumber and lazier because the government will ultimately save us. As for those who really believe that the health care bill provides a hand-out to the lazy, let me bring you up to speend. Because my wife and I worked for the same employer, we were covered under the same policy. Due to health reasons, actually aggrevated by the job, I left that employer but stayed on my spouse’s insurance, an arrangement many of you probably enjoy. Besides the condition that caused me to seek other employement, I am also a diabetic. Diabetes in my case, was an hereditary disease-something that the only way I could have prevented it would to have not been born. This is the case with many of the so-called pre-existing conditions. Among the reasons that I stayed on my wife’s plan was because as a diabetic and an asthmatic a personal policy would have cost over $13,000 per year, if I could have found someone to write the policy. As someone who is self employed in a particular field, that would have been almost 50% of my income, which happens to be par for the field I’m in. Then, my wife’s employer decided that they wanted to drop spousal coverage in exchange for a pay raise, claiming they could save $7500 per year per spouse (what they claimed the premium is) but only offering a $3500 raise. Fortunately, that didn’t happen or I would have been without health insurance, most likely not able to pay for my meds, and probably dead within a couple of years. And Palin talked about death panels-yeah, that’s what the Republicans have been supporting-death panels.
