John George, the once high-flying, publicity-seeking north county builder, was arrested by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies today on a warrant from Sarasota County.

He’s accused of stealing money from would-be homeowners in that area of Florida’s west coast.

Palm Beach Gardens resident George, 58, is the father of Chris and Jeff George, the twin brothers whose clinics throughout Palm Beach County were raided by authorities last month on the suspicion that they peddled pain pills to addicts.

The elder George, who once built a home for the Riviera Beach family of a cancer patient live on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in 2006, is being held at the county lockup in West Palm Beach on $500,000-bond. The warrant is for five counts of misappropriation of construction funds.

“He was arrested at his home this morning,” said PBSO spokeswoman Teri Barbera. “He was very polite, very nice. He agreed to accompany the deputy. He didn’t seem to understand what the warrant was about.”

Details on the charges were not immediately available. But the warrant was originated by the North Port Police Department, whose public information specialist was not working today.

Jared Leto’s rude Miami Beach welcome

Weird tweet from rock and movies heartthrob Jared Leto the other day.

“I HOPE WHOEVER STOLE SHANNONS BIKE LAST NIGHT IN MIAMI ROTS IN (bleeping)  HELL. XO”

“P.S. IF YOU FIND THE BASTARD YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO”

Sounds like he’s forming a posse!

What’s up?

Leto’s the frontman of rock band 30 Seconds to Mars, which also includes his brother, Shannon, at drums. Jared, who starred in Fight Club and Alexander, got tweeting when someone stole Shannon’s bike a few hours before the band’s gig in Miami Beach, according to the Miami Herald. The theft occurred in the parking lot of the Fillmore Miami Beach.

Like Will Smith raps: Welcome to Miami (Beach)!

The Letos still came up with a jolly good rock’n'roll show. Click on the photo, or here, for the concert gallery.

Liening on Celine Dion: Singer needs to pay up before water flows

Before Canadian songbird Celine Dion can float across her Jupiter Island property on her brand spanking new lazy river, or splash into the phony waves in her pool, she’d better pay up.

The consultant who figured out a way to make millions of gallons flow from underground just slapped a lien on Dion’s place. He claims he hasn’t been paid in full.

Herman Taube, the Hobe Sound geologist who designed Dion’s six-well reverse osmosis system, filed the court action April 20 in Martin County. He alleges that Renlec, the Montreal-based company owned by Dion and her elderly husband, Rene Angelil, still owe him $13,505, according to the paperwork. His total contract, signed in 2008, was for $252,750.

Neither Taube nor Dion’s reps commented.

EXCLUSIVE: Channel 5 star Tim Malloy’s a goner

Tim Malloy

Tim Malloy

Another WPTV-Channel 5 staple is calling it a career.

Tim Malloy, who’s been on the Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast television sets for 17 years as an anchor and war correspondent, tells Page2Live exclusively that he’ll be gone within a month.

Malloy, who turned 60 on St. Patrick’s Day, has accepted a teaching position at the Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. He’ll lecture on journalism, with emphasis on war zone work, in a school that’s mostly known for its non-partisan presidential polling.

“I’ve been working on getting this job for a year,” Malloy said. “I’ll be living in Manhattan and Connecticut. My mother and brother live around there. This is a great opportunity and I’m truly happy about it. It’s really the job I’ve been looking for.”

Bret Michaels’ West Palm Beach gig too close to call

Michaels (AP Photo)

Cruzan Amphitheatre bigs say the Bret Michaels concert with Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special in mid-June hasn’t been canceled despite the potentially fatal brain hemorrhage that struck the former Poison frontman Michaels last week.

But then, it’s not like it’s a firm go either.

“There’s been no decision made,” said Cruzan boss Joe Nieman. “We haven’t heard anything from Bret’s people saying it was canceled. We don’t know.”

The summer tour actually kicks off at the suburban West Palm Beach outdoors venue then heads to Houston, Detroit, Chicago and others.

Michaels, 47, who parlayed his success with catchy tunes like Every Rose Has Its Thorn into huge television ratings in VH-1’s Rock of Love and NBC’s current Celebrity Apprentice (taped months ago), has been recovering at an undisclosed location since Friday. While he may have been unconscious at times, his manager, Janna Elias, says Michaels now is responding well to treatment and able to talk.

Elias claims that, barring setbacks, Michaels could be back on his solo tour May 26 in Arkansas. A month’s worth of shows has been canceled already.

Michaels would be due in West Palm Beach, probably at the Cruzan, a week later for rehearsals for the June 10 tour kickoff.

Airbrushed Nancy Pelosi now a cover girl

If Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi continues to get airbrushed like she did for this cover of the cover of the fluffy glossy Capitol File Magazine, Hugh Hefner might come calling someday soon! DC is wondering today how artists and shutterbugs — and yes, the occasional nip and tuck — made the San Francisco Democrat, who turned 70 last month, look like this:

Now, this is reality — the way Pelosi looked three week ago, when she attended a fundraiser in Palm Beach were on-duty cops outnumbered the guests:

Dozens of big screen legend Burt Reynolds‘ mates at the now defunct Palm Beach High School gathered near the classic West Palm Beach building that once housed the school Wednesday to rename a stretch of road after the star of high-testosterone American classics like Deliverance, The Longest Yard and Cannonball Run.

Reynolds, 74, graduated from the school in 1954. The campus is now the home of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts.

Reynolds seems to be everywhere these days. He was honored at a lifetime achievement award at the Palm Beach International Film Festival Friday night. Click here for the Page2Live photo gallery of the intimate dedication gathering, or click on the picture above.

It’s mop, not mob, for Jersey Shore’s Magro

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro

(Click on the photo for more)

Believe it or not, they’ve got jobs. Some stars of the MTV hit show Jersey Shore are actually working in Miami Beach as the reality series’ second season is being filmed. Here is meat head Magro, aka Ronnie Ortiz Magro, whose claim to fame on the show is that he was arrested after a fight last season, mopping the floor at the gelato store Lecca-Lecca on Collins Avenue. He looks like a natural, too. Several cast members  have been seen selling ice cream, busing tables and cleaning up at the ice-cream parlor.

There’s a new water recreation area in these parts, right on time for splash season!

Well, don’t abandon Rapids Water Park just yet.

This one’s private. As in, only a handful of people will ever enjoy it!

It’s extravagant Canadian songbird Celine Dion’s new backyard in the chi-chi Martin County enclave of Jupiter Island, a place that’s also home to golfers Tiger Woods and Greg Norman.

Spoof of catfight between county commissioners Steve Abrams and Jesse Santamaria hits YouTube

WeTheCounty has struck again.

The anonymous group, or person, that spoofs Palm Beach County government just posted on YouTube its latest video. This one is inspired by the catfight between Palm Beach County commissioners Steve Abrams, of Boca, and Jesse Santamaria, of the western suburbs of West Palm Beach. Last week, Santamaria accused rookie commissioner Abrams of arrogance, and of trying to elevate himself by putting Santamaria down. Santamaria voiced his displeasure in a “nasty-gram” to Abrams.

Why can’t they just get along, sorta like the health nuts in this WeTheCounty’s masterpiece:
