New Tiger Woods “scandal?” The spit seen round the world!
Now that Jupiter Island golfer Tiger Woods is well versed in apologies, he’s using Twitter to issue them.
Shortly before 1 p.m. today, he tweeted this: “The Euro Tour is right – it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn’t thinking and want to say I’m sorry.”
What’s up? (See it on the video below)
Not as much as it seems.
Woods, 35, launched a fat loogie on the 12th green of the Emirates Golf Club Sunday during the Dubai Desert Classic, and his spitting was caught by the live cameras.
Apparently, spitting’s a no-no in golf, something that a European commentator called it “one of the ugliest things you’ll see on a golf course!”
While in the United States no one makes a big deal of Woods’ spewing habit, the European Tour announced it will fine him. Not that he can’t afford it: He received $3 million just to show up!
The poor guy seems to spark controversy for next to nothing these days. Woods issued a number of apologies last year for the philandering that cost him his squeaky-clean image and marriage.
In Dubai, by the way, he finished seven strokes behind winner Alvaro Quiros.
