In the boom-boom room: Palm Beacher Robert Riva to star on reality-TV dating competition

Even with a brand-new business administration degree from the University of Miami, Robert Riva hasn’t really been in high demand on the job market.

So he did the next best thing to getting a job: He used his boyish good looks, soulful eyes and fancy Palm Beach breeding and set out to be a reality TV star!

Riva, 22, is expected to become one of the main staples on a trashy-but-popular reality fare, Love Games. How trashy? Well, the house where the action takes place boasts a “boom-boom room.” Season 2, taped in the winter, premieres on the women’s cable network Oxygen on April 18.

The program’s premise: Natalie Nunn, Lea Beaulieu and Amber Buhl, stars from Oxygen’s scandalous The Bad Girls Club, are vying for the affection of 15 boys. By the eighth and final episode, only one of the girls and a boy are left and viewers try to figure out if the relationship will last.

As Riva puts it: “It’s the poor man’s (The) Bachelor.”

Riva, a graduate of Palm Beach Day School and Benjamin School, is the son of well-known marketing exec Maribel Alvarez. He knows instinctively the kind of exposure he could receive from the average million-plus of viewers per episode, especially when involved in on-air challenges that include doing jumping jacks in his Speedos.

The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno (above) had ‘em in stitches and rookie U.S. Rep. Allen West, the Conservative Republicans’ new golden child (above), got plenty attention while making face time with rich donors at what could end up being the social season’s biggest fund-raising gala, Saturday night at the Boca Raton Resort.

Nearly 1,100 supporters of the Boys & Girls Club of Broward County packed the main ballroom for the Concours D’Elegance’s black-tie, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500. And former Miami Dolphins majority owner H. Wayne Huizenga (below, with Jay), the founder of the AutoNation super dealerships, was honored for his contribution to the car biz.

Among the guests: Three-time Indy winner and former Dancing With The Stars champ Helio Castroneves; two-time Indy winner Al Unser Jr.; Latin crooner Jon Secada; and car dealer Rick Case. (Click for Mike Jachles’ 50-photo event gallery)

The gala was part of the weekend-long Concours, which also included Sunday’s collector car show judged by Leno. Leno himself is a well-known collector whose garage is stuffed with more than 100 classic cars, even if he told Page2Live last week that he was through buying — for a while!

Donald Trump slams Rihanna: We didn’t miss you!

rihannaThe star of The Apprentice would probably fire hip-hop sensation Rihanna if he could, and hire songbird Jennifer Hudson!

Donald Trump tells Page2Live he felt insulted when Rihanna canceled her performance hours before she was to appear at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach. Rihanna reportedly was to be paid $500,000 to sing at a fund-raiser for the Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute but was replaced by Hudson at the last minute.

“I thought that (Rihanna bailing) was insulting to everyone,” the maybe presidential candidate said. “But for Rihanna to go to the (NBA) All-Star game and perform after she told us she was sick, that is just a lack of respect.

“But, nothing was missed. Jennifer’s a beautiful girl. She came on her day off even though she performs almost every night. She is an unbelievable talent, and her voice is better.”

Hudson, the Oscar winning actress of Dreamgirls, and Trump must have hit it off. She dined with the billionaire, and about 400 members, Sunday night at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and even sang a set with the house band.

Tennis stars, celebs, beautiful people descend on Key Biscayne for Sony Ericsson Open

The Sony Ericsson Open is in full swing on Key Biscayne, and the tennis tournament is about celebs as much as the world-class tennis. For each Rafael Nadal on the purple court, there’s a Spice Girl in the stands. And for each Serena Williams splashing in the surf between matches, there’s a high-heeled Kim Kardashian doing the coin toss. See it all in the Page2Live gallery by clicking on the photo or here:
