Vanilla Ice gives his blessing to college Republicans to use his words
Wellington rapper and reality TV star Vanilla Ice, a.k.a. Rob Van Winkle, tells Page2Live he is honored that college Republicans on the West Coast used words from his famous tune to promote a party that caused protests on campus!
Last week at Central Washington University, in the small city of Ellensburg, Wa., campus Republicans honored Homeland Security’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for a raid on the town that netted 30 illegals.
The party was dubbed ICE ICE Baby, using both the acronym for the Customs, ICE, and Vanilla Ice’s famous 1991 rap anthem.
“I think it is great because people can relate to it, and it gets attention,” Ice wrote in an email from England, where he’s filming a TV show. “These people are stressing a point and I feel honored that they use my song to get it across.”
Ok, Rob, tell us more about your politics.
“Two things I will never talk about in public,” he emailed back, “religion and politics.”
Protesters, meanwhile, told the Associated Press the ICE ICE Baby party made a mockery of those caught, including folks with campus connections.
