Ex-NFL tackle Lional Dalton accused of tackling the wife

Former National Football League journeyman Lional Dalton spent today in a West Palm Beach jail after surrendering to Palm Beach County authorities on charges of domestic violence.

The 350-pound defensive tackle, who made Boca Raton his home when he retired in 2006 after playing for the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans, was scheduled to post his $2,000-bail today.

The wife, 5-foot Kimberly Dalton, also was arrested last week in connection with the same incident, which occurred at their home in March.

According to court records, the Daltons have been going at it for more than a year. He filed for divorce earlier this year.

Each has asked courts to grant several domestic violence injunctions against the other. Yet, they still share a $1 million-house at the fancy Fox Hill Estates, even if a judge ordered Lional to live in the pool house. He is only allowed in the main house, where Kimberly lives, to prepare food and attend to personal needs.

Still, they run into each other every so often — and that’s not good.

U.S. Congress hopeful Jim Horn: The dirt!

Horn

Horn

There’s one job that U. S. Congress candidate Jim Horn, a self-described traditional values Democrat, forgot to add to his extensive resume as restaurateur, boat-racer and body-building products salesman.

But it’s something that many lovesick people in the Boca Raton area do remember!

Horn, 56, once worked as the vice president of Soulmates by Helena, a dating service whose owner pleaded no contest to two dozen charges of grand theft in 2004. She was ordered to pay back $300,000 in restitution to 41 former clients.

Matchmaker Helena Amram was also banned from operating her business in Palm Beach County while serving a five-year probation.

She was accused of fixing some of her rich clients — who paid up to $100,000 for a mate — with poor or sick or disabled dates. Some of the clients, meanwhile, included men with herpes and criminal records.

What about Horn, who’s seeking a seat once held by Mark Foley and Tim Mahoney?

At first Horn, who has moved to Palm City, told me he was never an employee of the company and never received a paycheck from Soulmates.

But when I reminded him of his testimony in an unrelated bankruptcy, in which he stated under oath that he was indeed a Soulmates employee and its vice president, he changed his tune.

Palm Beach County certainly put its mark on Saturday’s Flugtag Miami.

What’s that?

It’s an event put together by the energy drink company Red Bull in which folks in homemade gliders launch from a 30-foot platform over water and try to fly for the farthest.

This type of competition has long been favored by wacky Europeans who crash into icy waters in places like Hamburg or Amsterdam.

But in Miami, more than 80,000 people gathered in Bayfront Park Saturday afternoon to watch an ingenious team from Palm Beach Gardens win in something that looked like a race car built by the Wright brothers.

Team Formula Flug pilot Daniel Bazzani, and flight crew Karl Scherer, Steve Silder, Rich Lamb and Lenny Wengler had their contraption fly 54 feet before a Sullenberger-style landing.

For their work, the crew won real flying lessons.

In all, thirty-four teams from all over the country, including Jupiter and Boca, competed. Click here for the photos

Fallen restaurateur Tony Bova picks himself up

Some say bankrupt Boca Raton restaurateur Tony Bova should be congratulated for picking himself up and start anew in the foodie biz with cash from family members.

Others believe he’s scum for partnering up with Fort Lauderdale lawyer and Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein then shutting down a chain of eateries while owing millions to vendors and employees when Rothstein’s went down.

Obviously, Bova’s got more fans than detractors. Several hundred of them packed his new place Wednesday evening for the grand opening of VIVO Partenza on North Federal Highway.

Was it love? Or the free booze? Only time will tell. Click here for all of shutterbug Mike Jachles’ photos of the event.

Bankrupt Boca restaurateur Tony Bova heads back to the kitchen, thanks to cash from family

Man, does he have brass ones or what?

Earlier this year, Tony Bova watched his Boca Raton-based restaurant empire collapsed when his 50-50 business partner, Fort Lauderdale lawyer Scott Rothstein, was arrested for running a $1.4 billion-Ponzi scheme.

Rothstein ended up being handed a 50-year sentence.

Bova? Debts, bankruptcy, foreclosures, embarrassment, unpaid vendors, unpaid employees — and now,  a new restaurant!

“Tony is not doing any interviews right now,” said Kay Renz, the unfortunate public relations woman whose job it is to make the grand opening of Bova’s new VIVO Partenza Wednesday as palatable as the food. “It’s not about all that other stuff. Right now, it’s all about the food.”

Where did Bova get the cash to open a new Boca place? He did, after all, list $8.7 million in debts in his personal bankruptcy filing in April.

Triple D’s no longer a bra size at Playboy.

The girlie mag, now produced in large parts by the Boca Raton-based American Media, is going 3-D — as in, put your glasses on for increased depth perception — in the issue that hits the stands Friday.

While the size of the magazine has been melting over the past few years, June centerfold Hope Dworaczyk literally pops out.

Founder Hugh Hefner says he ain’t no fan of 3-D but adds this pearl: If there’s something people would most like to see in 3-D, it’s probably a naked lady. Hef said he first had the idea in the 1950s. But at the time, the costs were prohibitive.

The magazine has seen its numbers fall drastically, from 3.15 million to 1.5 mil over the past four years. There’s no telling yet if the gimmick will help Hef sell more.

But his idea for next month will be a hit: The bunnies will hop off the pages and onto your lap! Nah, just kidding.

Tiger Woods looks like a homeless man in first pictures from sex rehab

The Boca Raton-based National Enquirer over the weekend obtained pictures of golfer Tiger Woods in sex rehab, the first images of him since his Thanksgiving accident and subsequent revelations about his extramarital activities.

The soon-to-be-Jupiter Island resident appears at a distance, walking out of a building on the campus of the Pine Grove Behavioral and Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Miss. Looking more like a homeless guy, complete with a scruffy face, hooded-sweatshirt around his head and shorts despite the cold weather, Woods is seen carrying a large Styrofoam cup while looking toward the lucky shutterbug.

Before he embarked for Australia, where he won his first match of the Aussie Open today in Sydney, tennis ace Andy Roddick filmed several commercials on the top-flight tennis courts at the Boca Raton tennis community of The Oaks. Roddick, 27, who learned his tennis in Boca, shot several sequences for clothier Lacoste and business consultant SAP. Andy’s people tried to keep it hush-hush, but Page2Live was there. EXTRA! EXTRA! NATIONAL ENQUIRER SAVES PLAYBOY SUPER BOWL PARTY!

Cancelled last year in Tampa, the much-anticipated, model-heavy, top-shelf liquor soaked Playboy Super Bowl fiesta returns on the February night before the football extravaganza at Dolphin Stadium.

Sources are telling Page2Live that, in the fall, officials at the Super Bowl Host Committee here were expecting Playboy to pull out again, due to the economy and sagging revenues in the magazine industry.

But the Boca Raton-based American Media wouldn’t have it!

AMI, publisher of the Tiger Woods-busting National Enquirer, Star magazine and Globe, recently inked a deal to print, market and distribute Hugh Hefner’s titillating glossy.

And just like that, the Super Bowl party was back on, with AMI finding sponsors.

Mark Feb. 6, Super Bowl Saturday, on your calendars, boys. The venue is The Sagamore Hotel in Miami Beach. The festivities kick off at 9 p.m. poolside, and 1,000 tickets will soon be available. They’re going on sale at $1,000 per.

Traditionally, the Playboy party is the place to be on Super Bowl week and boasts a high number of celebrities, ball players and body-painted playmates.

Well-known Boca Raton divorce lawyer Doreen Yaffa’s job hasn’t soured her too much. The fetching blond was hitched to Fort Lauderdale karate school owner Jeff Wilson in a sunset ceremony Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach. And she did something that, as a divorce lawyer, she’d frown upon: She married the dude after a four-month courtship! Pre-nup? Unclear. Yaffa divorced her life and business partner, Samuel Yaffa, a year ago.
