. . . Gov. Charlie Crist and his bride, Carole Crist, spent so much time mingling with the 200-plus guests at their wedding reception Friday night that they forgot to give the wait staff the nod to have the main course served. Result: Fifty to 60 people left after the poached-lobster appetizer. Pretty rude, if you ask me. One had a good excuse: state senate President Jeff Atwater. “I’ve got to go to a funeral in Palm Beach County,” he said. “It’s been great being here, but I can’t stay.” About 11 p.m., four hours after the exchange of vows, those left behind were served the main course, citrus-braised ribs and grouper. The traditional cake-cutting came after midnight, for 50 or so people . . . (Read more…)
What? No ‘Wind Beneath My Wings?
The band that Gov. Charlie Crist and Carole Rome picked for their wedding reception Friday is The Buzz Cats.
The eight-piece group was hired to entertain the 200-plus guests until midnight, said bass player Louis Vigilante.
“We’re going to do some Big Band, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin,” Vigilante said shortly before the reception at the Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg. “We’ll do some jazz standards.”
The unusual thing, said Vigilante, is that the newlyweds don’t have a wedding song and told the band leaders they didn’t want a first dance.
“It’s pretty rare, but it’s their wedding,” said Vigilante, who used to tour with The Backstreet Boys.
Crist-Rome rehearsal topped with pineapple

Gov. Charlie Crist and socialite Carole Rome spent their last evening as just an engaged couple Thursday night at an intimate $36-a-head wedding-rehearsal dinner at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.
The 52-year-old Crist, parents and sister Margaret Wood belong to the 2,800-member club, which is housed in a stately mahogany-covered building on the bay.
On the relatively simple menu: salad with crumbled blue cheese, a Crist staple; tenderloin and shrimp; and upside-down pineapple cake. (Read more…)

Tonight at 7, Gov. Charlie Crist and socialite Carole Rome will say their vows in front of 200 guests.
Earlier, workers made sure the place was fit for a governor.
Guv’s fiancee paid for GOP boss’ fiesta
Seems that statewide GOP boss Jim Greer found a sugar mommy.
Greer, who’s under fire for his handling of party finances, attended Saturday night’s March of Dimes shindig at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.
He didn’t pay for the $600 tickets for himself and his wife, Lisa, according to an insider at the nonprofit.
So, who ponied up $1,200? (Read more…)
Which of these newsmen is dissing the guv?
- Hannity
- Blitzer
- Scarborough
A source in Tallahassee tells Page2Live that CNN anchorman Wolf Blitzer, MSNBC morning personality Joe Scarborough and Fox News pundit Sean Hannity were all asked to the nuptials.
Thing is, only one may be attending.
Ouch!
Guv Charlie Crist romances fiancee from the stage

When Gov. Charlie Crist was introduced to the 300 guests of the March of Dimes gala Saturday night at Palm Beach’s Mar-a-Lago, he locked eyes with fiancee Carole Rome and professed his love from the stage.
“Carole,” he said, “I love you. I can’t wait to be your husband in a few days.”
Some women sighed. Others swooned.
Crist and the future first lady of Florida flew into PBIA from the UF-Alabama game in Atlanta, making it right on time for the 8:30 p.m. dinner.
“Six days to go, not that I’m counting,” Crist told Page2Live as he arrived at one of his last public appearances as a single man.

Hottest ticket in Florida
Page2Live obtained a copy of the hardest-to-get ducat in the state — the engraved invitation to Gov. Charlie Crist’s wedding to New York socialite Carole Rome.
Of course, it’s just a copy because mine, I’m told, is “in the mail.”
For most Floridians, looking at this invitation is the closest they’ll be to the wedding of the “People’s Governor.” It takes place at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at St. Petersburg’s First United Methodist Church, and then at the nearby historic Vinoy resort.
No bachelor party for Guv Charlie Crist
Gov. Charlie Crist isn’t planning a bachelor party as his wedding draws near.
