There’s a good reason why Canadian songbird Celine Dion has been flying below the radar over the past few months.

Holed up in a rented house at the Bear’s Club in Jupiter while her waterpark-outfitted castle on Jupiter Island is being finished, Dion suffered a miscarriage, according to her husband.

And the singer of My Heart Will Go On then went through another unsuccessful attempt at artificial insemination, he told the French Canadian Journal de Montreal.

A third attempt is scheduled this weekend in New York.

The 41-year-old Dion’s hubby and manager, Rene Angelil, told the newspaper that Dion became pregnant in August but lost the baby a week and a half later.

Said Rene, who’s 67: “We are living the same reality as the majority of couples who face these techniques of procreation. The road can be long and arduous. It doesn’t always work like it did the first time with (their son, born at Palms West in Loxahatchee in 2001) Rene-Charles. In August, the doctor believed that the pregnancy had started well. It wasn’t the case. We were in shock.

“But you know Celine. She doesn’t let go. We are not discouraged.”

Hey, guys, here’s a novel idea: How ’bout an adoption?

Is that a new Motel 6 on Jupiter Island? No, it’s Tiger Woods’ new crib!

Is it any wonder that golfer Tiger Woods had everybody building his Jupiter Island home sign a confidentiality agreement? I mean, look at this place! It’s a cross between a discount motel and a beachside nursing home! But hey, from what I’ve been told, Woods’ Swedish missus, Elin Nordegren, is calling the shots on this one. Woods bought four adjacent properties on the tony island for a Martin County-record $44.5 million in 2006. He then tore down the existing homes on the 12 acres, including a classic Bahamas-style manse. The new 9,700-square-foot home is split between the living quarters (right on the photo above) and a gym (left side). Both sides will be connected with a glass-covered walkway, according to the blueprints. Good thing the plans call for so much foliage around the house that few passers-by will be able to see it! So, this is why Canadian songbird Celine Dion has been drilling wells all over her Jupiter Island property! Now that the water can flow, worker bees are laboring extra hard on her double-wide beachfront home’s lazy river and main pool, according to these aerial pictures taken Monday. Still to come, the water slides!

Celine Dion using some of the precious liquid

Calling Celine Dion a water hog did have some effect after all.

Now that she’s having a water park installed on her Jupiter Island property — that’s two giant pools (one for the guests, of course), several waterslides and a lazy river — Dion’s doing it somewhat sensitively.

(See exclusive pictures of the construction here)

Last year, as the area suffered through one of its worst droughts, the Canadian songbird became the area’s heaviest user of drinking water. About 6.5 million gallons flowed through her nest, and that was just during construction. Cost the singer of My Heart Will Go On $36,343, and beaucoup public scorn, even if it was partly due to a broken pipe.

Now, La Dion told Martin County she’s having American Drilling Services drill wells on her $12.5 million beachside property. That’s three wells to extract water, and three to re-inject some of it, post use, back into the ground, according to the paperwork.

The water will not only be used for the waterpark but also to cool the home’s air conditioning units.

By the way, Dion is having a reverse osmosis system installed to purify the water 98 percent on its way to her water park.

Water flowing without scrutiny? Priceless!

Stick a fork in one of sports highest-profile couples.

Just 15 months after their romantic wedding in The Bahamas, golf legend Greg Norman and former tennis champ Chris Evert have separated.

In a joint statement, the couple said: “We will remain friends and supportive of one another’s family.”

A source close the couple told Page2Live the two gave “a great deal of consideration” before separating.

“They haven’t said whether they’ll divorce,” added the source, who asked to remain anonymous.

The announcement came three days before Norman is to captain the international team at the Presidents Cup in San Francisco. Traditionally, players’ wives take a visible role in the tournament but the Great White Shark showed up this morning alone.

Bill Gates in low-ball land-shopping spree?

Gates

Gates

Here’s the good news: Multi-billionaire Bill Gates may be shopping for waterfront properties in Martin and Palm Beach counties, with $65 million to spend.

Here’s the bad: His peeps are low-balling the pants off sellers.

A wet-behind-the-ears analyst with the Seattle-based Cascade Investment, Gates’ investment arm, signed contracts on three luxury cribs on Jupiter Island and two in the Town of Palm Beach over the past two months. A real estate source said he brandished papers showing the availability of a $65 million line-of-credit.

The youngster, Justin Hance, 25, claims to be with the firm Front Range Investment in some cases and Lake Clarke Holdings in others.

But here’s the Fact: Hance’s office is at the Kirkland, Wa., headquarters of Gates’ Cascade. The richest man in the world reportedly sunk half of his $40 billion fortune into Cascade, to diversify into ventures other than his Microsoft. Also involved in Cascade is the world’s second richest man, Warren Buffett. He weighs $37 billion.

Hance didn’t return several calls. But according to MLS listings, Front Range paid $5 million July 13 for a 5,000-square-foot home at 100 Harbor Way, on Martin County’s Jupiter Island. The Intracoastal property, which is surrounded by sea-grapes and mangroves, had been on the market for $12 million then $7 million.

It doesn’t seem, however, that Jupiter Island will see either Gates or Buffett anytime soon. Already, the property has been put on the rental market, at a monthly season tag of $50,000-a-month.

Lambiet’s Lunch: Alan Jackson to be a snowbird no mo’

Jackson

Jackson

– Country music star Alan Jackson plans on moving permanently into his new Jupiter Island home, according to this story on the country website The Boot. Jackson, 50, is putting his mansion in suburban Nashville up for sale. Price: $38 million! Jackson plans on moving south once his three daughters, Mattie, 18, Alexandra, 15, and Dani, 11, are on their own. “We like living in Florida and we probably will do that when the girls are not living with us anymore,” Jackson said. Jackson has owned an ocean-front property on the southern edge of the Martin County town since 2002. Two years ago, he had the old home leveled. He then built an 8,000-square-foot Mediterranean-style villa. He moved in earlier this year. Jackson, the mustachioed singer of Chattahoochee, has been known to spend weeks at a time in the area. When he’s not deep-sea fishing, he may hop on the stage of the local honky-tonk bar, The Square Grouper, for an impromptu show.

– Developer Bob Matthews‘ financial trouble didn’t end with his departure from Palm Beach for the summer. He’s already the proud owner of the largest deliquent property tax bill in Palm Beach County (more than $280,000 on his $15.8 million home). Now an old hotel in Nantucket, Mass., on which Matthews pinned his hopes for the future is in foreclosure. According to the island’s Nantucket Independent, TD Banknorth initiated the proceedings after calling its $40.5 million construction loan to Matthews. Matthews has been trying to rebuild the place into a luxury Mar-a-Lago-style club, Point Breeze.

– Miami Heat retiree Alonzo Mourning and his charity-fundraising sidekick Dwyane Wade have gathered an impressive crop of NBA stars for their celebrity Summer Groove basketball game July 12 at Miami’s Triple A. Happy to find a game he can win, Cleveland Cavaliers attraction Lebron James has RSVP’ed. Others: Denver’s Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin; Atlanta’s Zaza Pachulia; Houston’s Aaron Brooks; and New Orleans’ Chris Paul and James Posey. The Groove raises big $ every summer for inner city projects in Miami.

Lambiet’s Lunch: A-Rod Father’s Day; Paulina Rubio theft

Rubio

Rubio

– Latin songbird Paulina Rubio twittered over the weekend that her Miami Beach mansion was burglarized Saturday night. Rubio, 38, wrote that cops are going through security camera pictures and are closing in on a suspect. The Mexican star, who lives in a $2.7 million home on the Venetian Islands, was on her way to Spain via Miami when she discovered the crime. A woman at the home said: “I can’t comment about that.” According to a Miami Beach PD report, it’s unclear yet what disappeared. What’s clear: a member of Rubio’s entourage found the mansion’s front door wide open with foot prints on carpets inside.

– Must’ve been a weird Father’s Day for slumping New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez. His own two children, with former wife Cynthia, were nowhere in sight. But his new galpal, Fool’s Gold actress Kate Hudson, dropped in on him at the Florida Marlins‘ stadium near Miami with her little boy, Ryder. I’m told by an inside source that Hudson and her 5-year-old (fathered by her ex-husband, rocker Chris Robinson of Black Crowes) then took place in a luxury suite for seven innings.

– And golf may finally get interesting, sorta. Beer- and rain-soaked US Open fans at Bethpage Black on Long Island, N.Y., actually heckled Tiger Woods Sunday, basically telling the soon-to-be Jupiter Island resident to butch up. “We’re on Long Island, baby, where men are men,” someone yelled at Woods from the gallery. “Put down that umbrella!” Another said: “Suck it up, you’ve got your own video game!” Woods responded by putting a finger to his mouth and telling them “Shhhh!”

It’s back to the future for links Leviathan Greg Norman.

Part-time vintner and developer Norman and his wife Chris Evert, the tennis legend, have found a new love nest.

evert_norman

Chris Evert and Greg Norman

And it’s the same love nest that Norman shared with the wife he divorced in 2007 when he took up with Evert.

Boca Raton’s coosome twosome – they’ve been living in the Boca home that Evert once owned with her ex, former Olympic skier Andy Mill – is moving to Norman’s Jupiter Island home, according to several sources close to the couple.

The palatial Martin County home, a 9-bedroomer just one hole away from fellow golfer Tiger Wood’s new digs, has been on the market for nearly two years. Sale price for the 8-acres beach-to-Intracoastal estate now stands at $40 million, from $65 million originally.

But with no buyer in sight, Norman and his bride of one year are about to have the home, dubbed Tranquility, gutted and rebuilt.

There’s also a plan to redo the basketball court into, you guessed it, a tennis court.

Celine Dion’s husband checks into hospital

Update 2: An eagle-eyed reader of Page2Live tells me he ran into Celine Dion in an elevator of Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach a week ago. She was accompanied by a man, not hubby Rene Angelil, but she looked troubled. She came stepped into the downward elevator on the fourth floor, which houses the oncology department. Her publicist, Kim Jakwerth, says Dion indeed was at the hospital that night, but to visit a friend who eventually died of cancer.

Update: Kim Jakwerth, Celine Dion’s most helpful publicist (and there ain’t too many of those in Hollywood!), issued this statement a few minutes ago: “Mr. Angelil was in the hospital for a procedure which had been planned for months . . . not heart surgery. Today, he’s back at home.” At least, this is what Dion’s people are telling her.

Rene Angelil, the much-older husband of Canadian songbird Celine Dion, is in an undisclosed hospital, possibly in South Florida, to recover from a medical procedure reportedly related to a heart ailment.

A source close to the family tells Page2Live that the 67-year-old music impresario’s life was never in immediate danger.

Still, it could be several days until he is released.

“We heard he’s got some kind of arterial blockage,” the source said. “The prognosis is good. He could be out within two days but he could also be kept in for a week.”

The source added that Angelil has been unable to conduct routine business for several days.

Angelil’s brother-in-law, Jupiter resident Alain Sylvestre, declined comment.

“I can’t talk about that right now,” he said. “I’m under strict orders.”

And the 41-year-old Dion’s L.A. publicist, Kim Jakwerth, said she hasn’t been told of any problem involving Angelil.

“I’m checking into it but I haven’t heard back from Celine’s people,” Jakwerth said. “It must’ve been a quick in-and-out thing because they usually tell me.”

It seems that heart trouble has been plaguing Angelil for a while. He said in past interviews that he suffered a near-fatal heart attack at 50.
