Funny thing happened to West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel on her way to City Hall this morning.

Herhoner was stopped by West Palm Beach Police for speeding through a downtown school zone near Dreyfoos School of The Arts.

Guess what?

No ticket!

I’m told by a source at the PD that Frankel, 61, was at the wheel of her old Acura at the tail end of morning school arrivals when she was clocked 26 mph over the speed limit — that’s 46 mph through a 20 mph-zone with kids and school buses! — by Officer Josh Martin.

Dobbs

No-nonsense former CNN star Lou Dobbs wants to throw his hat in the New Jersey political world as a third party candidate.

Joisey?

You can do better than that, Mr. Independent!

How about trying the corrupt world of Florida politics?

Because he owns a $2 million-home at Ibis Country Club in West Palm Beach, according to county property records, Dobbs could easily become eligible to run for political office in Florida. And there’s enough populist anger and resentment against the political establishment down here to pave the path to office for the grumpy anti-immigration advocate with a red carpet.

If Dobbs wants to aim high, there’s the U.S. Senate seat that Gov. Charlie Crist thinks he’s got a lock on. The vote is in november 2010.

For a dog fight is what he’s looking for, there’s a mayoral election in West Palm Beach in 2011. And the fancy western community in which Dobbs bought in 2005 would love nothing more than having a member become mayor.

Dobbs to replace Lois Frankel? Imagine that!

“Lou Dobbs is a constituent?” WPB Commish Kimberly Mitchell asked, surprised. “Well, if he ran here, that’d put us on the map. I’d sure elevate the dialogue in this city!”

Dobbs is spending Thanksgiving at Ibis. He is expected to spend weeks at a time here this winter as his daughter, Hillary, competes in Wellington’s Winter Equestrian Festival.

Wild 95.5’s morning jock Jason Pennington is on a mean streak.

For the second time in a month, a stunt backfired on the guy, this time literally.

Pennington was channeling his rapper alter ego, The Value Meal Killah, for a stage show Friday night at Palm Beach Garden’s Ouzo Blue when things went south.

He first fell flat on his back on the slick stage as he attempted a wrestling stunt. With his back locked into place, security guards carried him away — then dropped him on his back for a second time.

In pain but determined to finish the gig, Pennington then sat in a chair to show his fire-eating prowess. Not only did he burn himself, but the jolt of the pain caused him to fall from the chair, on his back.

“I’ve been laying down on my floor since then and I’m taking care of the burns,” Pennington said Saturday morning. “But the crowd seemed to get a kick out of it.”

Pennington toilet-papered WPB Mayor Lois Frankel’s house this month. Only, it wasn’t Frankel’s house, but her neighbor’s. He’s been part of the station’s morning crew, with Virginia Lang and Kevin Rolston, for five years.

What do these feathered pests know that we don’t?

When West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel (left) leaves her Interlachen Circle home for the luxurious confines of the new city hall, two dozen buzzards have taken to spending quality time on her roof.

Says her spokesman, Chase Scott: “We’re glad they’re on the outside looking in!”

The bill for the mayor’s luxury shower at the new West Palm Beach City Hall is in, and it’s as stiff as the marble among which she may now shower.

According to a statement by project contractor Dan Catalfumo’s staff, the bathroom/shower in Mayor Lois Frankel’s new office set the taxpayers back $13,323! And that’s for a relatively small shower!

That’s what the mayor’s office released in response to a 40-day-old sunshine law request by Page2Live.

The document set the total construction cost for City Hall (or is it Show Hall?) at $101,787,925.

When it comes to the just opened building, city officials and Catalfumo generally have been stingy with numbers. Last month, Catalfumo told me the mayor’s shower contained a total $400 worth of marble, something that “wouldn’t break the bank.”
